While that is true I believe that 4200mAh one is legit.

What was not legit? The two "3500mAh" batteries that I got on Amazon. They are only 3100 yet seem to be only last 75% of the OEM. But they were only $10 for the two of them so oh well.

Then I got a 3100mAh battery from a more reliable and to my surprise it seems a little better than OEM--even though the same mAh. Go figure.

Michael

Cool dude. I always use precautions when buying batteries. That's pretty sweet you found a battery that will last a little longer than OEM! Especially at the same mAh.

There are a few things I don't like about the phone.touchwiz is not my favorite thing in the world. I use Nova launcher to make it the way I want it. The icon in touchwiz just look to cartoon like for me.

I use Nova Prime as well on my SGS3. I primarily use it to get rid of the app dock on the bottom and set my home screen to have 6 rows x 4 columns, so I can fit everything in as few home screens as possible.

I know this is a big phone and typing with one hand is going to be hard. I just think they could have done a better job with the one handed keyboard thing. I wish it could tell when you were holding it with one hand and switch to that keyboard. Instead you either have it on all the time or not at all. I just leave it off. Having SwiftKey helps because you can turn on flow and one handed typing becoming just fine.

SwiftKey is awesome. I only wish that I could customise the layout a bit more. Other keyboards allow for more customisation and narrows the keyboard and moves it to one side for one-handed use. At least on my SGS3, one handed use in portrait mode is not an issue for me.

Can you give me some tips on the unread counts? I couldn't ever get mine to work through Nova....whats the setup?

Unread counts/badges works on Nova Prime. I don't use it myself, but I do see the option in my Nova Prime settings.

Yea I could not do without SwiftKey. I had it on my Galaxy nexus and loved it. I did not realize how much more I liked it then the iOS keyboard until I used the iOS keyboard on the iphone 5 again.

So I don't have nova launcher prime I just have the free version. Does the prime one offer the ability to change the app drawer icon like you did? I like the nexus colors that outline it.

I don't remember if changing the icons is a paid Prime feature. (I paid for the prime version pretty much right away after learning how awesome this app is). You can try pressing and holding an icon that you want to change and if a window pop ups that says "edit", it would you the option to select a different icon/photo from your phone to replace the icon you've selected.

As Stuntman said, the paid Prime version gives you this feature.

You also get gestures so anywhere on the home screens, you can one finger swipe up or down, two finger swipe up or down, double tap on the screen, etc.. and it'll activate an app you assign to it. I can now double tap the home screen and it'll open up the camera app so I can take pictures right away. Instead of reaching up at the status bar to pull down the notification center, you can assign one finger swipe down from anywhere on the home screen and it'll pull down the notification center. This way, you don't have to reach to the very top anymore. Very convenient.

You can also assign a secondary action to any app on your home screen. For example, my phone app, if I swipe up on the app, I've assigned it to take me directly to voice mail. My app drawer icon, with a swipe up, I've assigned it to open up Google Now.

I'm aware of all of this - I guess I was having trouble getting it set up originally and abandoned it. I'll have to look at it again.

I didn't know about the secondary action for any app - is that a long press of the app itself that opens the selection of the secondary action?

Oh, well you do need to download this app to make it work with the unread count if you haven't done so.

Yes, long press of the app will give you the option to edit, and then select a "swipe action" where you choose another app. So next time you swipe up, it'll open the app you selected for the swipe action.

no regrets

I took the leap from iphone 5 to GN2. I will not bash the iPhone, as it is a beautiful device. The battery is awful.I always carried a secondary charger out of necessity. With GN2, the battery life is incredible, not to mention the option of carrying a second battery. The quality of the iphone camera I think is a tad better, butthe GN2 offers more options, e.g best shot, slow motion etc, to balance the scales. The GN2 ,after a few weeks, no longer looks or feels big.Using chrome on this phone is insanely nice.

I'm curious how much you used your iPhone 5 during the day....

I'm a relatively light user, but I can make it 1.5 - 2 days on a single charge most of the time.....generally, I'm plugging my iPhone in every night and its at 65% + after being off the charger for 15+ hours.

If we are thinking about switching to an android device should we get the note 2 or s4 (coming from the iphone 5)?

Honestly I would recommend the note 2. It will get a lot the features that the S4 have just will take some time to get it. If you have had trouble with your battery life on the iphone 5 for sure get the note 2. While the S4 does have a big battery at 2600 mah it has that bigger screen over the S3 so it will eat up more battery. The note 2 you can easily make it through a day. If you are a light user it would be 2 days with no problem at all. If you are are worried about speed the note 2 is really fast and will continue to be through this year.

The only real thing I would caution you about is the note 2 size. With me it did not bother me at all. I thought the iphone 5 was way to small, but if you like the iphone 5 size the S4 would be a better choice. You really could not go wrong with either phone, but if you are looking for a very unique experience then the note 2 is for you. If you want something as close to the iphone as you can on android the S4 would be better.

Be careful with eBay batteries. A lot of those batteries have a fake tape over them that says "4200mAh" but really when you peel the tape off it's the stock size or smaller.

Remember, you can only fit so much into the same shell size/dimensions...which a lot of times = stock battery with fake sticker on the front

This is definitely true however I have got a battery boost from this particular one so I would recommend it to others. Interesting though my friend bought te same one from a different eBay listing and he said he doesn't notice any real difference.

They are both what I would consider big phones, so I don't think size is really a concern when comparing the two. The note 2 has great battery life and a very useful stylus, so I would suggest going that route.

You learn something new everyday :) never would have though the NFC function of the gs3 is in the battery and on the note in battery cover.

So how are you liking your note 2? You think any phone this year will pull you away from it?

The Note III. :p

It's probably to early to tell but after seeing the One and S4, I have no regrets buying the Note II. It's an excellent device. Other phones I'll be keeping an eye out for this year are the Note III, Nexus 5, and Google X. If the Note III gets seriously to large and the Nexus disappoints, I'll wait until next year for the One 2 and S5.

Honestly I can not see any of those phones taking me away from the note 2. The note 3 is rumored to have a 6 inch screen which is way too big for me. I like the note just the way it is. The only way I would want a new phone is if my note 2 starts to lag after a couple of years. I am thinking about getting the nexus 4 to go along with my note, so I see no reason for upgrading in the next 2 years. I will get all the new updates from Google with the nexus 4, and have one of the best phones I have ever owned in the note 2.

If Samsung increases the screen size to 5.9" but barely increases the overall size of the Note (they did a great job increasing the S4 screen without increasing the size of the phone at all) then I'd have no problem jumping on the Note III.

Yea I guess so, but I really prefer it not be any wider. Also I really can't see this thing losing much speed over this next year. I guess it all depends on key lime pie and how big of an update it is, and when ever we get update. I don't know I like the phone just the way it is, but maybe I will change my mind by the time it come out.

I went in AT&T today and held the Note 2.. man it is a nice phone and I admire the battery life, but it's just so big to handle. I personally don't think I could get used to it. GS3 is as big as I'll go.

You might be surprised after using it for using it for a week.
