I went in AT&T today and held the Note 2.. man it is a nice phone and I admire the battery life, but it's just so big to handle. I personally don't think I could get used to it. GS3 is as big as I'll go.

It really grows on you. I used to think the same thing having the ip5, but I finally forced myself to use the note 2 exclusively. After about a week I grew to love it and gave my wife my ip5. Android is weirdly unintuitive at times, but for the most part it's more powerful than iOS and I don't know that I could live without some functions now that I have used them.

There were times when I thought the ip5 was too small though, and I would parallel that experience with the times I think the note2 is too large. Overall though for me it was a win win as having the Note 2 allows me to leave my tablet at home, where I would never think about doing that with the ip5.

I'm curious how much you used your iPhone 5 during the day....

I'm a relatively light user, but I can make it 1.5 - 2 days on a single charge most of the time.....generally, I'm plugging my iPhone in every night and its at 65% + after being off the charger for 15+ hours.

That's crazy, I'm very jealous. With medium use I'd put it on the charger before bed and it would be at 10% or so, with heavy use it would be dead by 6pm. With the Note 2 I can run the navigation for literally hours, browse the internet, and do all sorts of screen intensive activities and still have easily 50% at the end of the day, it's pretty amazing.

65% at the end of the night is pretty amazing and I don't think I've every heard anyone else claim insane numbers like that, do you use a battery manager or anything else that would allow you to get crazy numbers like that?

Well then there's the question of whether I should try the Note 2 or the GS4. I'd preferably want the GS4 but I'm skeptical of how well it's battery will do because the GS3 wasn't impressive at all.

The GS4 to me is still a regular "phone", even though it's not that much smaller than the note 2 on paper, it just seems to me that the Note2 crosses some imaginary boundary into being useful as a tablet, or I guess as it's called a phablet where the GS4 while having a much more useful screen as the iphone still is too small to entice me to leave my tablet at home.

And yeah, the battery life is a deciding factor, the Note 2 is just amazing how long it lasts.

Honestly about the size, when I first bought it I hated it, I felt self conscious like I had a brick on my ear and everyone knew it. I returned my first one because of that, but a couple months later bought another one and got used to it and now I love it and don't think twice about putting it up to my ear. For those many many times when I need a larger screen I am very happy with being able to pull out the Note2. Don't get me wrong, my dream is a foldable screen so I can have a small phone AND a large screen, but I'm sure that is years away.

Hmm. Well you've got me thinking if I should follow your path lol. After having a small screen for so long, even 5 inches is a huge improvement IMO. I tried out the nexus 4 and loved the screen size on that plus the form factor.
