I’m sitting on the fence on the morality of this post by the OP but I bought a pair of APM’s during launch week.

I’ve been very happy with them and they’ve done everything expected and advertised.

I am however, disappointed that they don’t offer compatibility with Apple Lossless. Had I known this at the time, I would not have bought them. That said, I’m not going to complain or try and return them.

Nowhere did Apple claim they would support lossless, BUT, Apple were aware that this was coming and it is a little disingenuous of them to sell such a costly device knowing that this launch was coming.

It is a real shame, but that’s life.

OP while I understand that when Apple releases a feature like lossless music, and your expensive headphones you just bought don't support it, I think you are a little misinformed. These are wireless headphones, and they aren't meant to support that type of audio which is really more of a marketing term anyway.

I honestly think you are causing yourself more trouble than its worth here. Apple and Amex aren't going to allow you to just keep a $600 pair of headphones without some type of repercussions. Apple is likely to shut down your account or Amex is likely to reverse the charge and flag your account as one to watch for unscrupulous claims. Either way, both parties aren't going to idly sit back and let you keep the APM at no charge just because you think they should have a feature that they were never advertised to have.

Honestly if I were you I'd contact Amex and try to get the chargeback reversed and sell the APM and take a slight loss on them if you are that unhappy with the omission of lossless music. Having Apple shut down your account is not worth the hassle of trying to get it reinstated or worse losing it all together.

You should return the headphones now that you got your money back.

You received everything Apple had promised you at purchase.

Obviously OP would never be entitled to keep the headphones for free. But it sounds to me like OP already tried to return them and Apple said no. I think Apple is more likely to dispute the chargeback and/or shut down OP’s account at this point, rather than just accepting a return they already refused. I mean, you can’t really force Apple to take them back.

Technically, Apple could sue the OP and would probably have a pretty good case. Probably not worth Apple’s time though.
