heres my new setup. Im waiting on my fourth monitor...should be here in 2 weeks.

more pics upon request....
Hi
I'm doing about the same as you, AE, FCP, Lightwave3D all on a G5 dual 2 gig.
My goal is to play fullscreen video over 3 beamers and have a 4th monitor to control it all. This is going to be a background in anaglyph 3d (with red cyan glasses)for a theatre play in Holland.
There are systems like Watchout to do it with but they are far to expensive
(47500 euro for 5 days)
What i would like to know is the video cards you use in this setup especialy because you do 3d as well.
Would it be possible to stuff 2 NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT DDL cards in a G5?
regards Viewnathan

I feel confident that anyone who goes through the hassle of buying and assembling a 3 or 4 monitor display will quickly grow tired of it. I did, all of my friends did, and will replace it with a single large monitor eventually.

Just my thoughts... but I never cared for the bezels.

:)

Anyonw concerned that this would need six DVI ports? Which is never mentioned really.
It does to D-Sub, which I guess helps (you can get PCI cards to do the rest), as having a full DVI connection is not just unnecessery, but complete and utter overkill :p

 And I thought my 30" + 17" provided a lot of space

I'll take one, please. :D

Edit: Maybe its time to pull the two Dell 2001FP 20" displays off my PC and attach them to my Mac, on either side of the 30", rotated in to portrait mode. Hmmm.....

How will I go about having a set up like this

I have a Dual G5 with an ATI Radeon 9650 card in it. Have 1 CRT viewsonic and 1 LCD Viewsonic. My goal is to have the crt in the middle with 2 LCDs, one of each side and bust out a triple display.

however, how will I go about picking a good video card. Installing it on my G5 and setting up my OS to handle it.

Make a new thread, don't revive a year old thread. There's one tip.

you guys are so lucky. do you know how much it would cost me to buy those 3 monitors back in the day when i was into it? :(

 More pics please! That is awesome! nice setup! what do you do with all that space???

PS- Nice Think Different poster. :D
edit- oops... I saw a Think Different poster made with the poster of the right and I got confused.

if you know of a think diffrent poster with that pic i wanna know about it

 I'd like to work on those big ol screens, but I'd not want to have them in my house, if would make the room look small.

For any video editors that still have one of the later powerbooks, you can actually run 2 external displays off of them.

I have my 2005fpw plugged into the DVI, then I use the S Video as an out to a television for some minor color correction. Sure wish the MBPs did that!
