Are with TMO or ATT?
AT&T. Have thought about moving to t-mo, but right now I have a much better deal with at&t. I have the 30gb data share plan for $130 plus discount and another line full of dumb phones that I use to upgrade. However if at&t stops doing 2 year contract upgrade like the other carriers have, then I really look into switching carriers.

Assuming youre from the Chi area, have you looked into LTE coverage for TMO?

Actually I'm in florida, haven't been to chicago, so I can't comment on coverage there. Sorry.

I think you got my post mixed up with Tig bitties, he mentioned being in Chicago in the post I quoted.

I'm seriously considering this phone. I've read ppl saying, elsewhere on the Web, that the task-killing issue is so severe, their navigation app will be killed mid-drive, if they're running an audio app at the same time and a few notifications from other apps come in. Surely that can't be true(??)
I've used navigation on my S6 Edge+ plenty of times and never had this happen.

Thanks. I was in a carrier store earlier today; tried opening a bunch of apps in succession and seeing if the original ones reloaded/lost their last "position" (like in the Android Police video). I was gratified that it didn't seem to happen.

Btw, an older lady saw me playing w/Note 5 and asked why I was considering it over Note 4 (which is $150 cheaper). She said she's been researching both phones in depth, and is trying to make up her mind.

I was like, "Uhh... well, it's a year newer and faster; it's a bit thinner and made of nicer materials," etc. Mostly, I realized how it sounds slightly ridiculous to talk about phones out loud -- as opposed to typing all this stuff online...!

Tbh I didn't think the Note 5 was a very big upgrade over the Note 4. It is a lot faster though, and the "take a note with the screen off" feature is cool. I'm happy with my purchase though.

Does anyone know if Samsung removed the writing to text and formula feature from s-note? I used to use it all the time but can't see to find how to do it?

I cannot find the formula action in "link to actions", either.
Just found out how to get the features back :) go to the notes section of s-notes and get to the more menu. Then go to more features and download the extension pack :)

I still think the note 5 is the phone I'll keep for a long while, but that Sony z5 premium is a beautiful looking headset.

I have no doubt the iPhone will sale in droves. Apple could not release a new phone for 3 years and it would still sell, because it is an iPhone.

That being said, this may be the year that we don't see an area were the iPhone outclasses the competition. For example, the only thing it should have over the note 5 is force touch, yet the note 5 has the spen.

With hardware like the note 5, z5 premium, and the rumored larger nexus....its all very compelling.

100% Agree the Note 5 when you think about it is basically a Mini iPad Pro It has a Stylus 4GB or RAM an Amazing Display Split Screen View

And it does things iPads or iPhones can only dream of doing.

Yeah my Z3 multitasking like a champ. They have embraced the near stock appeal whilst keeping the additional features people actually want in a third party launcher. That's what OEMs should be doing. Thankfully we are seeing a move to it from other manufacturers, it'd be nice to see Samsung do the same.

I don't know if you have done any listening comparisons but I like the Z3 for music over the Note 5 for both onboard speaker and headphone listening.

Best looking devices at the moment are the Sony devices. Love the Z3 and the Z2/Z1 before it. Love the Z3 compact tablet except for the plastic back but can live with it due to its overall sleek design. For the iphone, I think the 6 is the ugliest iphone in recent years. The iphone 5 and 4 were better looking devices in their era.

Unfortunately, Samsung still have not nailed it design wise. S6 is pig ugly as too is the note 4. The Note 5 looks like an improvement but if it looks like an S6 in person then it is still work in progress for Samsung. The edge plus is Samsungs best looking device but the colours used do it no favours. Black is not black and the side metal frame is not dark silver. The white on the white phones look opaque and plastic. The gold whilst the best colour is let down by the gold on the front. It looks like gold foil as oppose to the nicer gold found on the side and the rear.

Curious which stock apps you use, or download others from Play Store ?

- Texting ? Stock default Messages on the Note 5 ? Or something like Google Messenger or Textra ?

- Keyboard ? Stock default one on Note 5 ? Or Google keyboard or Swiftkey ?

- Browser ? I use Chrome

- Lock screen ? Do you use the Fingerprint to unlock, or swipe up to unlock ? Only thing I don't like with the fingerprint unlock, is if I have a missed text on the lock screen I can't tap or touch it to reply, I need to unlock the phone first. But if lock screen just set to swipe up to unlock, I can reply to that text right in the lock screen.

- I was using stock messages but I also like Google and textra.

- I was switching between stock and a custom swiftkey from XDA.

- Chrome but I do wonder if ppl like TW browser.

- just regular swipe to unlock.

Thanks. Question this with other text apps. I tried Textra briefly on the Note 5, and I would still get double notifications on the lock screen. The white stock Messages banner would pop up, and then also the dark textra would too towards top of screen.

If using only Textra, how do you stop the stock Messages from showing Heads Up ?

Tig, I never tried Textra with the Note 5 but with my Nexus, I'd freeze it with TB.

First major issue. Vodafone Ireland works on LTE Band 20 800mhz. The phone says it supports it. I can not get LTE to work at all. It shows up in the LTE Band selection tool, but can not get LTE to kick in.

Hangouts and Dialer since I use Google Voice # as primary.

Stock keyboard with autocorrect disabled since it gets in the way of ConnectBot SSH/telnet client but JuiceSSH seems to work around it fine.

Chrome with non-root Adguard has eliminated need for Firefox with uBlock.

Pattern unlock is still faster than fingerprint although fingerprint web site authentication is handy.

Pretty much using everything stock, though with the material theme. I do use Nova launcher instead of stock launcher.

I also kinda switch between the stock sms app and hangouts, the stock app performs better but my wife uses hangouts.

Your screwed then, I suggest you sell it to me for £250 to me!!

Seriously though, have you rang voda because they may be able to send the network settings over to you.

Worst case you can try disabling Messages with non-root Package Disabler app.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro

Update: Disregard as it currently doesn't work on rooted devices.
