a better place
Your screwed then, I suggest you sell it to me for £250 to me!!

Seriously though, have you rang voda because they may be able to send the network settings over to you.
Yeah done that; 4g working on my Edge so it's not the sim or network settings. I mean it's not a big deal really as I still got 20mb down on HSPA+, just a bit of a bummer.

Ladies and gents: has anyone handled the silver in person at all?

Originally thought if I did go for the 5 I'd try that. However, after going to a Samsung store today for no real reason, I found myself liking the Pearl white S6E+ (no N5 here in EU to try) and pretty disgusted at how many fingerprints the black and gold has amassed. At first I thought maybe the white was neglected so I tried to smudge it up myself. Turns out they're hidden well.

So now I'm thinking the silver is gonna be just as shiny and reflective as gold and therefore need wiping down unless I cased it. YT videos sure make it look shiny but not sure if that's just hardcore spotlighting going on.

My black (dark navy blue to be exact) is a fingerprint magnet. But I don't like cases. I tried a skin on the back but felt it took away the great premium feel I like so much on the N5

Wish I could write anywhere with the S-Pen and have it transcribed to text.

I tried it here on Chrome on my Note 5 right now. Pulled the S-Pen out, went to handwrite in this reply box, but nothing happens.

I then opened Google Messenger, tried writing and a little Blue circle with a T popped up, and yes, I could handwrite a message, and then it transcribed it, and I sent it.

So can only certain apps allow you to handwrite instead of typing ? I thought with a Note phone, anywhere that could use the keyboard, you'd also have the option to use the S-Pen and void handwrite if wanted ?

Are you using the Samsung keyboard or 3rd party? If your using the Samsung one, then next to the sym key there is a multifunction key and you can switch to handwriting mode.

I'm using Google Keyboard
Ok, yeah if your relying on the write menu to pop up, it only does in certain spots, I would say it mostly works but it won't show up all the time. In the keyboard it's always there though.

K thx. So I need to use the stock Samsung keyboard. I don't see that option on the Google Keyboard. Pressing the microphone, only activate voice control.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5: A second opinion
http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-5-second-opinion

I've always enjoyed Phil's article and opinions on Android. He tells it like it is, no fanboy or sugar coating.

Phil admits he doesn't like large phablet phones, and doesn't see himself ever using a stylus on a smartphone, and he's never been a Touchwiz fan. So a Note phone does not seems like something he would even be interested in, and he admits that. But he says the Note 5 is so good in other areas, it is the top Android smartphone to own right now. Best in class camera, amazing build quality, super fast zero lag, and pretty good battery life.

For my money — about $800 for the 64GB model — this is the phone to get. It's easier to hold than the GS6 because of its increased size. It's maybe not as quite as easy to hold as the LG G4 for me, but it's fairly close.

What's really done it for me? The camera, of course. As I said at the outset (and numerous times this year), the camera is a deal-breaker for me in 2015. I'm not compromising. The LG G4 camera is really good. The Note 5 (and other Samsung phones this year) is better. But the Note 5 software has been running much better for me than the G4's software.

So for now, I'm a Note 5 user. That'll change at some point, for sure. But as of right now this is as good as it gets.

I'll give a more detailed review this weekend, but first my quick comment after owing the Note 5 for a few days. I've owned all three of the these phones now. Will explain that in more detail later.

The Note 5 feels like the iPhone 6 Plus and Nexus 6 had a baby together.

The N5 reminds me and feels like a 6 Plus in a good way, super high quality build, very good looking phone, jaw dropping beautiful display. But of course is running Android, but not the stock Android we all love, so this TW OS feels almost like a mix and mash of iOS9 + Android in a strange way.

I've rooted my Note 5, and am running a custom ROM, which is tweaked performance, better battery life, and debloated. I am also using Nova launcher, and a different icon theme, and the Material Dark theme from the Samsung store.

So my Note 5 now looks like a stock Nexus type phone, but with the added Touchwiz stuff like S-Pen apps, and actually some of the default apps are nicer than I expected. Like the dialer I prefer this TW Dialer more than Stock Android's. And just the way certain core apps run and operate I surprisingly like better than stock Android. When a phone call is over, the screen fades away after a few seconds back to the home screen, without me pressing the home button. Just little tweaks on TW that I am shocked seemed to be nicer than stock Android.

Battery life seems to be really good, easily on par with my tweaked Nexus 6, I am thinking it will be even better. This Note 5 will easily get 5h to 6h Screen On time for sure.

As some might know, I was on the TMO variant for a week, testing their coverage in S FLA; decided to finally stick with ATT.

I received my ATT variant today and I immediately notice some differences. The settings UI is slightly different compared to the TMO variant, no big deal. The other observation is the display. With the TMO variant, the display was cooler; the ATT variant falls on the warm side.

I lean towards the cooler displays and I hate the idea of returning the device due temperature differences.

Need some help. I just noticed that I can't back out of the Gmail app using the back button. Seems to have worked before. Can somebody else test this?

I'm still a Nexus fan at heart, but was looking for a change, and trying something new, with the Note 5.

It seems some super geeks think Galaxy phones aren't even running Android, but Samsung's in house Tizen OS, and that Galaxy phones should be avoided at all costs. Only phones running stock Android or close like Moto are the ones to buy, per these hardcore stock Android fans.

But after tweaking my new Note 5, it is indeed an Android phone at the core :p stripping away Touchwiz, I rooted and installed a custom TW ROM, and running Nova launcher, using a different Icon pack, and then the Material Design theme in the Samsung store, and installing Xposed modules like Wanam to tweak it even further and deeper, transforms this Samsung phone into a pretty powerful little machine. I like this a lot.

Now a stock Galaxy phone, out of the box, with zero tweaks and no root. No thank you, I'll pass on that.

dam, Tigs, all this talk of rooting and roms is making me want an unlock variant. A small part of me regrets leaving TMO.

Curious, did you have a 32gb or 64gb Nexus 6?

XDA has a new procedure for rooted phones that totally fixes the poor memory management and refreshing ignore back ground apps.

People have tested this method and said they can refresh up to 19 old apps kept in memory, and now they refresh exactly where left off, at lightning fast speed.

Agsin, thanks to XDA Development on the Note 5. I knew XDA would tweak and fix the known issues people complained about, making this, phone even better :)

Unfortunately, if you root you loose samsung pay. I am not sure about android pay.
