eh??

samsung makes great phones, tv's etc.

i quess you will be the first of the row throwing also every other devices built from samsung parts? yes? no?

should i smash my iphone because it has a samsung chip inside?

Not really. We had a TV blow out, a Washer Machine, a DVD player. We are done with Samsung. LG on everything else from now on. I just hope our Samsung Fridge lives.... And seeing how they refuse to pay for the damages to peoples homes and stuff, I won't deal with them definitely after that.

You do have to ask yourself though, why on earth after all the publicity had they not returned it sooner, and moreover - why they chanced taking it onto the plane if the first place after all the flight warnings over the last few weeks.

Let me start by saying I 100% agree with you on this one. Just let me play devils advocate for a second. What if this person was on a two week honeymoon, and was in Mexico when the the final recall came out last week. I have seen many stories of people that were over seas with the phone, and Samsung could not tell them how to get it back here, and there was no where in the country they were in to return it. I feel like this falls back on Samsung not giving customers enough options to return the phones.

Now that does not completely explain this case because this person I am sure knew the phone was recalled. Getting on the plan was kind of dumb. Again who knows, maybe he was hoping he could get it back so he could return it since Samsung would not help him out? So I know I am stretching this just a bit.

I think this says more about Samsung and the way they handled this whole thing. What a mess.

No, Samsung could not do anymore, its all over global main stream public media for several days, all over the internet, messages on the phone tell you to stop using it, and two days ago this guy tried to get on a commercial plane with it?? Sorry that is nothing to do with Samsung, that's the end user 'chosing' to ignore all those warnings and chance it.

I truly fail to see how you can blame Samsung for this person getting on a plane in Mexico with a Note 7?

I am not blaming Samsung because I don't know the whole story, and nor do you. I am just suggesting he may not have too many options. Like I said though, it was really dumb to try and bring the phone on board an aircraft.

I am not sure if you have seen it or not, but there are plenty of cases of people that were in other parts of the world when the recall happened, but they bought it here in the US. They called Samsung, and Samsung did not know what to tell them. They said they would call them back to let them know. Most never got a call back. That does not sound like Samsung handling it to me. What is the customer suppose to do? I would not want to lose $700+ on a phone that was recalled.

I got the note 7 right when they came out and immediately went overseas for 5 weeks. I was so worried that they were going to outright ban it before I could do anything. I even went into T-Mobile store in the Netherlands but they couldn't exchange it for me.

I'm sure the guy quoted wasn't the only person faced with the choice of binning their phone or being a criminal.

This is the exact situation I was talking about. What options did Samsung give? From what I heard, nothing. What ended happening to your Note 7?

It didn't end up being banned until just recently. I got back and exchanged it a 2 weeks ago. My LG V20 arrives today, and replacement note goes back. None to soon since it looks like I will be flying next weekend.

I like the "fireproof box" they get u to return it in .... hilarious ...

You would think just a tick box of "damaged good declaration" wold have been enough to prove it's safety..

After all, when customers declare stuff at customs, that what we must to. I figure Samsung don't even trust them.. to go through this much.

I see your point, but I would argue those people were complaining to the wrong company, Samsung did not ban the phone on planes, I would be contacting those who did and demand assistance, firstly from the airlines.
I don't think Samsung is under any obligation to help those people, it would be more from a customer service standpoint if they did I think.

Both my Samsung refrigerator (freezer part) and my washing machine died within four years from time of purchase. Waiting for the Christmas sales to replace them because the fridge part still works OK. I'm going through the inconvenience of having to go to the laundromat.

So......nah. I should have looked at the reviews before I bought my French door fridge though. Plenty of bad reviews. I'll add mine and never get another Samsung product.

Wish Apple didn't use any of their components but I guess I'm stuck.

Do you find Apple products to be reliable? Have they ever let you down? If not then why have the attitude you wish Apple didn't use Samsung products despite them never letting you down? I even set a ship built by Samsung has delivered some of the other goods you own, would you rather not have those because Samsung made the ship that delivered them? It's just as daft to say that as it is to wish Apple didn't use them.

I completely disagree. Samsung recalled a device within a month of release. Customers did not have time to prepare, and were left with no options if traveling abroad. It seems to me Samsung would offer customers that are abroad some options for returning their phones instead of leaving them high and dry.

I have no idea what you expect airlines to do. Should they allow customers to bring the phones onboard and risk everyone's safety? Honestly what should the airlines be doing?

You are correct it is a customer service thing for them to help everyone out. Guess what, they kind of need all the help they can get right now. Having stories like this pop up around the world does them no good. Not helping people only worsens their name. You may not think they are obligated, but they damn sure should be doing something to try and save face.

Dragging Apple into the discussion when discussing Samsung product issues is more shift of blame. Apples products aren't exploding at an unprecedented rate.

The ship analogy is pure hyperbole so I won't address it.

The rest of your question is that if I find a company to be unreliable then I would prefer to steer clear sea from it.

So no. Nothing daft about preferring not to go near a company whose phones have failed me, whose washing machine has failed me, and whose fridge has failed me.

Three types of products. Three failures.

So yah even though Apple has never left me down, I wish they would not use anything Samsung.

thank god nobody listen your wishes... it would be pretty dull world without samsung and their knowledge of techonology.

unfortunately there arent any companies making products lasting 20years as they were in the past.. most of the products have more electronic components which get broken sooner than later.

I don't care about anyone else.

I don't live my life based on the affirmations from nameless people on an Internet forum.

Samsung can exist as far as I'm concerned. I just want none of them.

It WOULD be daft for me to be waving the Samsung banner after my experiences with them.

add to it how how much you hate samsung.

OK.

I don't care what people think and I absolutely hate Samsung.

Is Samsung a person, a religion, a country? Must it be revered? Must I love it? Must I say it's a wonderful company when the Galaxies 2, 3, 5, and Note 4 that I've used have turned bin worthy after one year, having been rendered into a slow buggy load of processed bovine feed after the first upgrade? Must I love the company that produces a refrigerator that I bought in 2012 and whose freezer died in 2016? How many 20 year old Frigidaire are out there, working just fine? And what about a five year old Samsung washer? There are 30 year old Maytags working just fine.

So in what alternate reality would I love a company whose products have had a five year lifetime for a major appliance whose competitors are doing fine after 20? And why would I love a company whose phones are bin worthy after one year, when I still have an iPhone 6 from work that's running fine?

It's a company. It's OK to hate it. It hasn't got feelings. It would be ridiculous for me to say ooooooooo i LOVE Samsung after my four year old major appliance decides to give up the ghost.....

So yeah. I don't care what people think of my wish to have Apple steer clear of Samsung. And I hate Samsung.

And no. It isn't just me.

So it would indeed be daft if I said anything positive about my Samsung experiences.

I'm giving you a thumbs up on this even though so far my Samsung experience has been okay. Not great, but okay. I have a fairly new 4K tv from them replacing a still working plasma tv (now in my husband's home office) so I hope I have better luck than you have had with my Samsung products.

But I fully support your right to hate them after having such bad experiences with their products. I am so against this fanboy or corporate loyalty nonsense that pits consumer against consumer instead of consumers against companies that persistently demonstrate poor QC issues in their product lines.

I believe in making informed decisions. Every purchase decision comes with some risk. Even from a good company there will be a few lemons. But some produce more lemons than others.

We should support each other for speaking out about our experiences.

Nobody is forcing anyone to stop buying Samsung just because you hate their products. Your experiences are duly noted and appreciated.

I may or may not continue to buy some Samsung products. But definitely NOT their washing machines! Or any of their appliances with lots of moving parts. Jeez!

Thank you. I'm a bit shy if speaking my mind given some experiences here. But honestly, it's a company. If I had said anything remotely personal then yah, that would be uncalled for. But I'm talking about my experiences with a COMPANY. If, after having tried all those products, I would be still praising them, then I'd have to have my head examined.

I posted the Consumer Affairs links because I was waiting for someone to claim that I was lying or exaggerating.

I'm not buying one more Samsung product. Ever.

I will venture out to another Android because I like to try things. But Samsung????? Never again.
