I think Samsung have given the industry a lesson in how not to handle a high profile faulty product. They had a chance to redeem themselves after the first recall and the media even helped them out by writing articles on the best course of action. It seems the committee in Korea did what many companies do and didn't listen to anybody outside of the boardroom, not least their own customers. What a shambles.
If the battery issue was just a shot in the dark, they should have just discontinued it on the first go itself instead of risking a guess being proven correct.Would have saved a ton of rep and PR

I just hope AMD,NVIDIA dont come out with something like this in their CPU,graphic cards lol.I prebuild PCs and a fire there could be potentially even more disastrous

For some perspective, the Note 7 was on sale for 34 days (8/19-9/2, 9/21-10/11), and in those 34 days at least 92 devices caught fire in the US alone. That's almost 3 per day, that we know of. That's insane, generally these things happen a rate of 1 every couple of weeks in the world (at least reported on a website), but this is 3 a day in one country.

I understand them hesitating to repair the house of the other guys as it has not been determined yet if the phone is what caused it, though it does look bad.

But I cant believe they're denying the couple that's asking for $9,000 to replace their bed and carpeting. Not only are these people being reasonable, but that's a small amount to pay for a corporation as big as Samsung and they would get a lot of good will.

Agreed and with that I won't ever buy a Samsung product again.

Some may be saying that now just because of the whole mess. I would like to give them another chance, but it seems the further we get away from this, the worst it seems to get. Cover ups never help anything, and it may cost Samsung more then people think.

Loving my S7 Edge, looking forward to the S8, I really want that iris scanner and secure folder back. Bottom line, there's no replacement for the Note Line. Nothing comes close.

Congrats on getting another phone! Hope the S7 edge is a nice device for you. I have still never heard from Samsung about getting a phone to use for a year and give feedback. I would still like to see what the S7 edge was like, but who knows if I will ever see another email after all the mess. Enjoy your phone!

Thanks :) It'll be interesting to see how it works for my use, but even though it seems like a surefire thing, I won't buy a case before I have the phone in my hand :p I hope you'll get yours too. Samsung might indeed be a bit busy right now, but currently they need all the goodwill they can get and standing behind their promise would definitely help with that.

Yeah, you are going to have to let me know what you think about it. I agree with not buying a case yet. She was you've got before going out am getting a case.

I totally agree they need some good will. That is the whole reason I thought they would have reached out by now.

Agreed, right now there isn't anything like the Note, and probably why I'll get the next "note", but at least right now I don't feel like I'll be preordering this time, after preordering the Note 3, 5, and 7 (note 4 I didn't get right away because of the bad taste left with the performance of the Note 3)

My thoughts as well I don't think they will call the new "Note" the S8 Pro maybe just use an appreviation and call it N 8.

But man this thing needs to have a replacable battery

Yeah me too, I was most interested in the S-Pen and while I'm not counting on Sammy releasing another device called Note, I hope there will be a model with the S-Pen included.

They have to, didn't Samsung buy a healthy chunk of Wacom. To not utilise the Wacom digitiser and stylus in at least one product going forward would be a genuine travesty.

Yeah, or they could do like HTC and sell off their shares, and did that bite them in the butt.

I guess, you can't really test them fully. Only real world use can prove that...

Battery's do damage..

Rather than risk not just replacements, but how many time to get it right, it's eaiser just to recall, until they do get it right..

Stupidity and ignorance. One must be living in a cave not to know at least something about it and if one lives in a cave he/she shouldn't have that phone to begin with.
