The other colors look great but black is just so clean and stealthy looking. I can't wait. :D

p.s. Did I hear that they aren't doing gold in the US? That's a shame.

I came to the S7e due to smaller form factor but same screen as ip6s+. Is the note 7 similar in size to the 6s+?

They appear from the images much the same - though the Note 7 has the bigger screen and is fractionally shorter.

But if the 6S+ was too big for anyone, the Note 7 would likely pose same issues.

Not interested in new iPhone then? Smaller one?

To be honest I have no excitement at all for the new iPhones. I have no issues with the ram or speed of my current iPhone 6S. They open apps fast and keep stuff in ram for a good length of time. The camera I have no problems with, sure you can always go better, but it's not like the iPhone 6S / SE camera is poor or anything (i'm taking great photos regardless) so unless

a) the battery life is noticeably improved

+ in conjunction with

b) higher resolution screen on the regular sized 7 (so it is over 400 dpi)

Then the usual SOC updates are not enough to make me go rushing out, especially given were sure to get iOS 10 on our existing devices anyway.

Hmm the perspective on that pic isn't good. I've physically compared my 6s plus to my note 5 dozens of times and I'm always amazed at how much smaller the note 5 is. The note 7 is a decent amount narrower so it's even smaller.

My guess is it works just like themes, has to be submitted to Samsung.

that was my thought too. Was hoping for Play Store icon pack compatibility

Here are the specs.....

The difference in size is quite significant IMO, given that the Note 7 display is bigger. After seeing all these Note 7 pics I'm actually beginning to feel for the first time like my 6 Plus is quite chunky. That size difference is going to make a noticeable difference in my pocket! And for one handed use.

Just seen s recent speed test between note 7 and 6s and seems iPhone won which was very surprising to me

It shouldn't be, the iphone beat both the S7 and S7 Edge, and the Note's specs are exactly same.

Real world there really isn't much of a difference, but the iphone is a little zippier.

Also s7 lost against iphone 6s so its clear the note 7 with same soc will lose again. This will become worse when iphone 7 comes out in one month.

This is the one of the few areas where apple is still number one.

I wonder if you set the resolution lower on the Note 7 if that will speed things up a bit?
hmmm.... good point. I wonder if lowering the resolution would mean better over all benchmarks? Or just better video benchmarks?

The S7 Edge with the same 5.5" size screen as the iPhone 6S Plus is even smaller than the Note 7, making it significantly smaller than the iPhone.

Puts the iPhone to shame. And worse, no sign of it improving this year.

You mean this one?

Wouldn't it have been more natural to test the N7 vs the 6s Plus instead? I'm not sure if there's a real world difference in speed between the 6s and the 6s Plus but it would make sense if there was, given the higher resolution/bigger screen on the 6s Plus.

For comparison, below is a speed test between the Note 5 and a 6s Plus. Here, the 6s Plus beats the N5 with only 15 seconds after two laps, whereas the 6s beat the N7 with a full minute...! This could mean that either the 6s is significantly faster than the 6s Plus OR that the Note 7 is significantly slower than it's predecessor...

...but it could also simply mean that opening graphic intensive games is the real achilles heel of the Notes (aside from memory management), since it looks like the first test features more of those than the second test.

In any case, it's really striking how slow the N7 is at opening those graphic intensive games. To the point that it looks like there's something wrong with the N7... Have there been any significant speed enhancing updates to any of the previous notes?

FAKE EDIT: I checked these 6s vs 6s Plus benchmarks on Anandtech. It seems that those two models are mostly equally fast. Aside from memory management (scroll down to Basemark OS II 2.0 - Memory), where the 6s is notably faster - not sure however how much that particular benchmark has to do with actual RAM management... So in summary, maybe the Note 7 would have done better vs. a 6s Plus at least on the second lap.

Used the wife's iPhone earlier on, it feels like a brick in comparison to the s7e now I'm used to it and I'm using it as my only device.
[doublepost=1470946465][/doublepost]Them Benchmark tests only ever matter when two phones are next to each other and being put through the test.

In the real world, who actually cares? Besides bragging rights, if the phone you are using is fast, fluid and hiccup free, they are irrelevant. All IMO of course.

Lovely phone and I keep coming back to this or s7e but and here is the biggest issue for me and that is the track record I've had with Samsung. Right now I'm on a rooted sprint note 4 with cracked screen. It's buggy, laggy, the s pen has never worked I think something was wrong with the digitizer. It has issues and on its last legs.

I've had a number of Samsung devices even the Galaxy Nexus and most leave a bad taste in my mouth now because of problems I've had. It could be because I was rooting and flashing Roms. But the other issue is bloatware and updates.

Still I keep thinking and wonder if the newest device will be any different. I don't think I'd use the engineering boot for root btw. I could use my nexus devices for play and a new note or s7 as a daily driver I guess.

Thoughts?

I don't have an issue with the size of the 6S plus but it's at the limit of what I find comfortable. Whilst I loved the screen size of previous notes I always found them unwieldy. This is why I'll be keeping my edge. My OH has an s6 edge plus and I find it awkward and too narrow. I prefer the wider frame of the S7 edge. 5.5 inches is plenty for me. The edge is even more comfortable than my 6S plus.

I'm happy to keep my 6S plus for another year. I'm sure it will feel like new with iOS 10 and I have all the other Apple kit (Mac, Apple TV, iPad, watch) so I will benefit from all the new software updates.
