Me paying full price doesn't make my phone bill any cheaper. Maybe it works that way in your 3rd world country but here in the US it doesn't. So it's better for me to buy my phone on contract like most ppl in the US.

You could be 80 for all I care, age obviously doesn't guarantee intelligence being as you can't engage in any semblance of intelligent conversation or comprehend basic mathematics.

I live in the US. People like you are why other countries hate us. Leave the Internet. Thanks. ;)

Wasn't the out of contract price for an S3 549.99 at the AT&T store? This means price went up.

Not as high of a mark up as Apple, but boy, Samsung sure is trying hard:

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sams...g-costs-estimated-higher-retail-price_id41021

"Samsung Galaxy S 4 manufacturing costs estimated, higher retail price"

Apparently, after the reports circulated that the fine print on the sweepstakes put the retail value of the Galaxy S 4 at $579, Samsung has done some editing, and has changed the fine print to say the retail value of the phone is $640.

That sucks, if true.

Did you actually read his post? He's obviously in the US if he's using AT&T. He switch to straighttalk which uses AT&T network but is a lot less expensive, saving him 1k per year. This requires an unlocked phone.

I'm not entirely convinced you have gotten less stupid as you say since you stopped buying unlocked phones.

Let's do a simple math problem.

640$ + (495 * 2 ) = $1569

Let's say I'm only using 2 GB on Straight Talk, but I use my unlimited texts. That's without tax, of course, so I'll do the same with the other guy.

Let's figure up my monthly AT&T bill. 40$ for minutes, 30$ for 3GB (I'd pay for 2, but it's either 300mb for 20$ or 30$ for 3 GB) and 20$ for unlimited texts. And I'm going to even make it better, I'm going to assume that they'll only charge 200$ on contract. There's a great chance it'll be 300$

200$ + (90*24) = $2360

If they charge 300$, just add 100$ to that. And that isn't taking into account higher taxes due to the higher amount.

That is, of course, to the guy who was talking about how paying full price for an unlocked phone "doesn't make my bill any cheaper".

But do you also understand where someone may be coming from if Straight Talk or AT&T has garbage coverage in their area?

For example, I pay $100/mo for my 4GB Verizon service. I paid $400 for my iPhone 5. This was a good deal for me over the $850 full price b/c I 1) intend to stick w/ this phone for 2 years and 2) will shell out the $100/mo no matter which Verizon phone I get b/c they have great speed, coverage, and service in my area.

$100/mo for me is nothing compared to the garbage coverage I was receiving before with AT&T and T-Mobile.

It's gon sell a ton.

Samsung Galaxy S4 quadruples Galaxy S3 pre-registrations

isn't that the only place that is taking preorders? So that would make sense for them specifically.

Doesn't take a genius (pun intended) to extrapolate a 40% growth in preorders over only 2 days. Looks like iPhone is going to get trounced this year. Expect upwards of 100-200 million sales, let's see iPhone come even close.

You do know that Straight Talk can use Verizon phones, right? Go to the site, go to buying a SIM, and you'll see three options.

-Phone is a CDMA (i.e. Verizon, Sprint, Metro PCS), TracFone, SafeLink, NET10, -Straight Talk, Telcel America or BlackBerry
-Unlocked GSM Phone (Phone must operate in 850 and 1900 MHz bands)
T-Mobile Compatible Phone

Yes I do. I was trying to wrap the conversation back to the AT&T comment. But I was trying to point out the advantages being worth it to a consumer like me of going with Verizon. Somewhere I read that Straight Talk throttles after 2GB (yet I come close to 3.2GB/mo), does not allow visual voicemail or picture/video messaging, lacks LTE, and reading the reviews in my area the coverage is spotty.

Then you should stick with Verizon, I guess.

There isn't a one-size-fit-all.

But nobody can argue that you won't save money over the 2 years with buying it outright.

You make 1 great point, there isn't a 1 size fits all.

But it's not worth it for me to save money compared to the alternative. If people are looking to just save money, there are better ways. Just look at all the random things people spend on or that go to waste. If we're talking purely from a price point, T-Mo's $30 pay as you go is probably the best.

But what I was pointing out was that such plans like that and the straight talk plans aren't always the best in value. And yes, I will be happy sticking with my Verizon plan for years to come.

Yeah, T-Mobile's 30$ a month is great.... but T-Mobile's services aren't exactly in all that many places. Like... for example... where I live has Sprint/Verizon/AT&T, but no T-Mobile.

D:

But, yeah, stick with what works for you.

LOL - oh man....how delusional are you?

I fully expect the GS4 to sell well....but to outsell its entire line of predecessors COMBINED!?!? Ya right....

The GS3 is sitting at around 50 million (which is slightly less than half of all Galaxy phones sold to date).....I'd say its quite reasonable for Samsung to expect maybe 60-70 million GS4s with the smattering of GS3 sales continuing....hell even 100 million GS4s after a year or so. But the GS4 won't come anywhere near 200 million....

And if it does, I'll gladly eat crow.

Also the iP5 has sold on average about twice the number the GS3 has sold per month since each phone's release....Hell, the iPhone almost outsold the GS3 last year, and the GS3 had a 5-month headstart.

Settle down there sport....Samsung's doing well, but they definitely aren't on Apple's level YET sales-wise.

Get back to me when Samsung has sold 250 million Galaxy phones....because that's how many iPhone 4, 4S and 5 Apple has sold to this point....

Of course it won't save you any money if you continue to use the same, extremely expensive" service. It does, however, allow a lot of people to get a cheaper service that gives approximately the same service.
