Any battery recommendations? Best deals, preferably OEM (unless there are truly quality, safe alternatives). Thanks in advance.

if you want oem, register you S4 on Samsung's site. They will email you a coupon code for 50% accessories. You can then use it to buy OEM battery plus charging kit for $25. If you want aftermarket batteries, you can pick up a Zerolemon (no NFC) off Amazon for $9.

My Wireless charging kit arrived today and even though the back is thicker than the normal back - I think it adds a more robust feel and sturdiness to the device that is otherwise missing. I really like it.

Wireless charging works like a dream and the fact it works with the Nexus 7 too is a bonus :)

In other news.

Google Edition S4 4.3 just got a 16mb patch. Hopefully this corrects a number of problems with the 4.3 roms such as tap to focus missing in camera mode when using scenes or HDR.

For that 50% offer, aside from registering the device - is there anything else I have to do?

How long does it take to get the coupon via email?

Thanks for the info!

EDIT: Just received the email! Great tip, thanks!

Coming from the iphone 5 and jailbroken iphone 4s, would you guys say android overall is "less" secure than ios?
Also should i wait for the new operating system to come out before buying the gs4?
The new nexus is coming out soon....any thoughts on that?

thanks

Define less secure and what are you going to be doing on it that you think your security is so important.

If you are looking to sideload or pirate applications then yes it will be insecure, just like folks who jailbreak their iPhone just to get pirate applications.

If you are a legit user of the market place and have an ounce of common sense then android is no less secure than anything else. Add the fact you can install party extra security to check apps and such, an argument can be made for extra secure.

And if you want to go GS4 then don't worry about the updated OS. There will be very little difference between how 4.2.2 and 4.3 run.

Less secure? Absolutely.

Installing bootleg roms from dubious sources, side loading apps, and pirating material exacerbates the problem. Also, installing crappy apps from Google Play will expose you as well.

However, being smart about your downloads, and what you expose your device to will spare you lots of pain.

By default the S4 is no less unsecured than the iPhone. Unless you change the security settings, it verifies apps before installing and doesn't allow you to install apps not downloaded from the play store.

Those are pretty sweet.

But it goes against my beliefs to pay for anything in the Play Store lol

I may break that tradition though when I get the Note 3

Can't say I'm particularly enamoured with the uniform square look - it's one of the aspects of iOS I was glad to be rid of.

Still, anything is an improvement over Touchwiz at least.

Looks much cleaner to me. But hey - that's the good thing about Android right? We're all free to choose the UI that works best for us.

What do y'all use? I'd love to check out some other icon sets.

I used Holo icons for a while with Nova but got tired of the lag and issues I was having with delays on my S3 so went back to a factory reset.

I liked that set of icons though.

I actually like clean, symmetrical home screens as well. I feel that it adds to ease and comfort of overall use. It's this very reason I hate the dialer on my s4! I've tried alternative dialers but they introduce latency, which I refuse to deal with considering everything else runs smoothly.

Not really. You may find one on swappa or eBay but they tend to go for relatively close to retail if youre lucky 150ish off. Patience required. Could get lucky on craigslist if u live in a high traffic area, no dice for me here. Bought from play store :-/

Not many of them out there on secondary market, maybe not many in general too :p

Fwiw im very pleased with the phone and FYI rooting (which is slick due to the device having fastboot(also enables the ability to root without breaking warranty)) is required to really take advantage of the SD card unfortunately.

Yea I just got the HTC One on Att, and I have the nexus 4, but I wanted to see how the S4 was, but I don't want Touchwiz. Been there done that. Thanks for the info though.

EDIT: I found one on swapps for $475, but I want to sell or trade my iPhone 5. Is there a way to do that on swappa? The trading part I mean?

Yea I thought so too, and you would think with a name like swappa it would be s trading site.
You can trade on swappa....but you have say that in the description and list a price to for it to be listed. But I have seen some phones listed as trades. But how they get that done is another story. Paying for a phone is one thing but how to do a trade might be difficult.....

So I've been having a weird issue with my GS4 (standard AT&T model). When I am updating an app, it'll display a message at the bottom saying that I only have about 1.5MB of internal storage space left (it fluctuates between 1.3MB-1.7MB). However, looking at the storage in the Settings app I see that I have 5GB of internal storage left, and 10GB on my SD card. Anyone else getting these weird messages?
