Yeah but I really didn't like Hangouts either, although I'll give it a try again. One of my biggest complaints was that it didn't display a preview of a new incoming SMS on the lock screen like Samsung's stock SMS app does. Unless there's a setting option I'm not seeing.

I've been using textra for quite some time and it is great. Very light so it doesn't take up much room and it customizable enough for me. Give it a shot.

Everyone probably realized this by now but I just starting using Touchwiz again... if your downloading especially a samsung made app the Samsung Apps Store sometimes has a newer version then the play Store. Milk Music the Samsung Store has a 6 day newer release then play store atleast and Play Store wants to me "update" to the version they have lol

Anyone having an issue with their side power button? Mine is sitting damn near flush with the side of the phone and I don't know why. While that helps prevent accidental presses, it kinda requires a bit more effort for intentional ones.

Anyone else reading about how the S4 watch might feature Google's stick Wear OS and be rebranded as the "Galaxy Watch"?

If that means it'll play well with the upcoming Pixel 3s, that could be interesting.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think you necro'd a thread about a five year old phone. >_>

It happens. That being said, I'd like to see proof that WearOS isn't just a re-branding of a platform that they had basically abandoned before. I wouldn't want to spend 350$ for a platform with mediocre support from the people developing it. Say what you will about the Apple Watch, Apple isn't going to abandon the OS. I don't know if I can say the same for WearOS/Google.

Would mot be good for Samsung to abandon their gear platform.

Smartphone profits have been declining since peak galaxy sales so it would make sense for Samsung to abandon its tizen platform.

Just not a good sign.

Oh, I don't think it's a good sign either. They threw that thing on TVs, washers, dryers, fridges, and cheap phones.

I think Samsung had once intended to ditch android and put tizen on all their phones. At the time of the S4 they were Selling in huge numbers and were a serious contender to Apple. However sales have slowed down and they’ve never been able to get back anywhere close to the sales they had with the S4. Also I think at some point in 2014 Samsung had a meeting with google and concessions were made on both sides, including Samsung having to have stock google apps on the phone out of the box. I think google agreed to extend some of their patents to protect Samsung in the their legal battle with Apple.

I remember the tab pros that were initially unveiled at CES in 2014 were heavily skinned and the final product that was released was toned down as a result of the agreement Samsung came to with google. Also there was one Samsung launch which occurred before that meeting and it was noted that nowhere had Samsung mentioned android in the keynote. As a result of the meeting I remember subsequent Samsung phones then started displaying powered by android when they booted up.

They did with out much success.

Yeah. I want there to be a third OS out there that can compete in these areas, like watches mostly, but it isn’t meant to be. And I don’t say that happily. But what I want doesn’t matter to reality.
