No it is not. Apple does not report the screen time. It says useage that's all. We use SOT as the barometer because the screen uses more battery than other components. You did not get 8 hours of screen time. You got 8 hours useage. Not the same.
Here is my usage.. It's says over 16 hours useage since last time the battery was charged.

Thanks for clarifying this Jamezr, just learned something new.

Wow...there are still people who think that android's SOT and iphone's usage are the same thing.

Wow what's with the condescending tone?

No...I get 8 hours on my iPhone 6, even with T-Mobile and weak signal in my area. Would love to switch to the s6 but this is why I'm still on the fence.Image

iPhone usage time is indicated by when it is kept awake/not in sleep mode. If you're listening a Podcast or music / stream, your usage time will increase without the screen needing to be on.

However, you have a very valid point in regards to being in a weak signal area. In regards to battery life, iPhones handle weak signal MUCH better-- especially if the signal is weak enough for your phone to hop between LTE and HSPA. However if you're getting 2-3 bars consistently, you might be OK. Your best bet is to give it a trial run and draw your own conclusions. Best of luck!

Pretty normal usage today with only a little game playing. Ive had my S6 for a week today and its been heavy usage the whole time and today was more normal.

I got a nice surprise today. I saw in here that the GS6 had 3 GBs of RAM and i didnt even know that so i went to T-Mobiles site to see for myself and when i was logged in there was a link next to the specs asking if i bought my device before April twelth, click and redeem your free year of Netflix. So i went to my calender on my phone to see what the date was when i got and it was on the 12th.

I filled out everything it asked me to(IMEI, Mac addrees, etc) and tapped send, and it said, "Congratulations, you have been approved for your prize". Got the code and added it to Netflix and i now have a free year of Netflix.

I wasnt expecting that. I only read that you got that if you preordered by before the 10th so, very cool for me :D

I thought I was doing well battery wise with mine yesterday but after watching YouTube and reading a book in Google play books I only managed to eek out under 3 hours (2hr48mins) SOT with 14hr05mins on battery. No WiFi calling here and no LTE either. Just not getting the results some of you are.

All i can put it down to is the specific firmwares in each of our devices. Strangely inconsistent battery between us all.

How come Facebook is still trying to find location and is giving me number notifications next to the app icon? I have everything in the Facebook app turned off.

my hunch is that wifi is involved somehow with the poor battery life reports. All of skratch's high screen time reports are from using lte only it seems
That and the weird cell standby reporting. Hopefully there is an update in works that will correct the reporting issues. I mean if I am at home and on Wi-Fi all day how can cell standby have that much battery consumption?

cell standby has been at the top of the charts on my gs4 gpe since lolipop too, but I cant say that battery life has suffered, I've had a marginal increase. I had thought it was some kind of reporting error. Don't know what to think anymore

Doesn't a cell phone still need to maintain a good cell phone signal for voice call connectivity? It's not just about data connectivity.

exactly....it doesn't seem to be hurting my battery life. I just think it is reporting it incorrectly.

I agree...but on my S6e sometimes cell standby accounts for the most battery consumption than anything else. That can't be right.....

Cell Standby will also be affected by how strong of a reception you have, so if your some where with crappy reception, then it will eat more battery even if your on wifi because it still has to maintain service for phone calls.

Have you turned off HD voice? I've seen other report that that feature eats more battery. Go to settings/mobile networks/mobile data and turn off enhanced lte service. It doesn't affect your data speeds, but I have noticed a slight improvement in standby time.

It strange though. I get really good battery life. I have been in good cell reception areas with like 20 - 30 MB download speeds. Yet the cell standby is still high. I don't have this option settings/mobile networks/mobile data. My VZW S6e doesn't have those options. I think it is under settings "Advanced Calling" on VZW and that is turned off on my phone.

Seriously, anyone elses Facebook app being annoying? I've turned off all location/notification settings in the app itself, and have unchecked Facebook notifications in the App Manager settings. What is going on. Facebook is still at the top of the battery list... and it's saying "connection time" or something has 50 minutes or so. I definitely was not on Facebook for 50 minutes today. Not even close.

What's going on? Anybody else?

Yep bad experience with it on my edge.

I ended up uninstalling it (well disabling it) and simply opened Samsung browser to Facebook mobile and sent shortcut to desktop.

Facebook & messenger were using 300mb between them of data almost all the time. Horrid resource hungry so I just make do without them on my Edge and live with the mobile website which is near identical anyway.

Even on my Nexus 6 its using 200mb and I haven't even opened it today on that device. I will likely uninstall and do the website bookmark on it too.

This is facebooks doing or Samsung? Must be Facebook right? I'll disable too. How annoying.

Seems like a lot of workarounds to get decent battery life....

Tons.

I'm at 2:54hrs screen time at with 43% left on battery.

5hrs of screen time is about normal for me, and that's in an area with blah AT&T cell service.

That's not all that far from what my Note 4 was getting, and it completely destorys what I was getting on my iPhone 6 which was about 3 hrs of screen time.

Facebook. Its a total bloated resource hog on Android.

It's about as bad on iOS. If you love your battery, use the browser mobile site.
