Are you noticing the A2DP quality to be a little tinny/minor distortion on the S6/Edge? My music doesn't sound as good with my Jaybirds nor my car BT compared to my Z3 Compact.

Go into settings >

Sound Quality & Effects >

Adapt Sound > Set it up with your headphones on (it will work with wired & bluetooth headphones).

The difference it makes to your music regardless of headphones is quite remarkable.

Sounds quite a bit better (less distortion). I think if I fiddle with some EQ settings I can get it closer to sounding like my Z3C. Thanks!

I use jaybird bluebud x, really nice and portable, though for phone calls they're OK, but people on the other line can tell, but for listening to music and stuff, they're great. Battery life is really good too.

I've been using LG Tone HBS730 for the past year and had the previous year's model (HBS700 maybe?) before that. Good sound quality, no complaints on call quality from other end, easy to use--can wear discreetly around your neck and quickly put in earbuds if needed. Pretty good battery life as well.

If the newer models are as good, they're a good option.

Thanks for the recs. I'll check 'em out.

Most of the time, i used them with my iphone, only used with my S6 a handful of times. But I haven't noticed any distortion, though I listen mostly to podcasts, and when I'm listening to music I'm usually doing something else so I don't listen intently. If there is a distortion, its subtle enough that I don't notice.

The camera is a real winner on this device.

The strengths that stand out to me on the S6 really are:

1) Screen - sublime to use. I really can't use any other screen. Everything else looks poor compared to it, including the One Plus and the iPh 6. And the dimness and brightness levels really take them to their extremes, making the S6 very usable both in the dark and in direct sunlight. Bright sun in your eyes? No longer a problem.

2) Camera - Fast. Easy. Reliable. Quality. Sounds like the iPhone camera. And it is the iPhone camera, but even better in low light and even better for zooming into details. Big win here. And double tap home to quick launch the camera at any time? Super useful. The front camera deserves some mention too. It's a healthy wide-angle 5MP camera. The iPhone's 1.2 MP camera is embarrassing next to this.

3) Call quality/GPS strength - Instant lock and ready to go. Never a problem with calls or signal strength. Just easy and reliable to use. Again, very iPhone like in this area.

4) IR Blaster - I can control my TV and the cable box from my phone. I can see the guide right on my phone. It's faster and easier to use than the actual cable remote. And it was extremely easy and fast to set up. Love this feature.

5) Quick settings - I think Touch Wiz's implementation of the Quick settings is really the best. It's narrow and doesn't take up any real space. For comparison, Sense's pull down quick settings is a disaster. Ugly, overcrowded, and messy. Just gross. To a lesser degree, so is the stock Android pull down quick settings. Not as messy or ugly, but just crowded. Also, what makes Touch Wiz's implementation better is that it only requires one pull down, versus two on stock. This makes a big different when you want to quickly access or toggle something. And the fact that you can swipe to a second page full of second tier toggles? Fantastic. My only one gripe is that you can't remove "S finder" and "Quick Connect". Such wasted space.

I also think it's worth mentioning here that even within the main Settings menu you can edit and set up favorite settings at the top (up to 9). It's a lovely feature.

6) Nifty TW features - split screen multitasking, I admit, is used rarely. But in those few times you need it, the feature is very handy! I've used it only a handful of times, but found it very easy to use and helpful. I rarely minimize my apps though with the corner-pull down move, but that's kind of cool too.

7) Great speakers - Pretty good quality and loud! Very easy to talk to someone on speaker or to use it for Navigation.

8) Gorgeous design - The gold is a real winner. The gold metal trim around the device is lovely. Very easy to be enamored with this device.

9) Quick charge / wireless charging - I haven't had the pleasure of using wireless charging yet, but look forward to it once I decide on a wireless charging device. But Quick charge is a real win. It always surprises me how quick it goes. Moments later, I'm back over 50%. And if I wait a bit more, my phone suddenly lights up and I'm back at full capacity. It's that fast that you just kind of forget it was charging and suddenly you're ready to go another 24 hours again.

The rest of the stuff is just good. Like fingerprint scanner. It's okay. Just as good as iPhone's, I guess, which means once in a while you'll get the mis-read. TouchWiz is also just good in terms of how cleaned up and fast it is. No device is lag-free, but they are indeed very rare. I use Google Now Launcher and Google keyboard. Both great. Wish there wans't so much bloat, but once disabled, you forget about 'em. And lastly, battery life, eh, just good. Good enough to last a work day and then some if you push it into Power Saving mode. Wish it was longer, but what can you do. Thankfully you get Quick charge and once I get a wireless charger at work and at home, I'll be topping it off whenever it's idle anyway, so no bigs.

Overall, this is becoming a great device. Everything is either good-to-great; nothing really damaging or bad about the overall package.

And that's saying something.

Nope. That's turning off location.

What I am suggesting is turning of location history in privacy settings.

The two are not the same

Turning off location as you are doing turns of location all together. This means apps requesting location info won't get them. This is not good or practical. Leave it on.

Google Location history is a constant polling / push service that runs even when your not using an app requesting location access. It constantly records your location and pushes that information to google so they can give you transit and such information in Google Search Cards (Google now).

Turning off location history stops your device continuously recording your location and pushing it to google - thus saving battery life.

All other apps like Google Maps, weather, camera still have full access to location when they need it.
Hmmm ok. I turned off location entirely but dont really want to. So turning off the history will still help or is that the culprit using the most battery from the location standpoint? Interesting, good tip.
It also showed my Nexus 5 as on in my history even though it is now my Wifes phone assigned with her Google account. Of course no reporting from it since i got the GS6.

Yesterday i got 4 hours and 17 minutes of SOT with just over 17 hours total and i had 17% left when i went to bed and plugged it in.

----------

I just set up the TV remote function on my s6 and am now controlling my TV and cable box from my phone. You can see the guide and everything right on the phone.

IR blaster for the win.

Yeah, that is a very cool thing. All my TVs are now Samsungs so it works very well with them. Guide and every function on the TV. Love that.

Funny enough my TV is an LG, their direct Korean rival. ;)

Yep just turn off Location History.

This was only introduced with Google Now. Basically its just your phone polling google servers and giving them your location. Unless you really need google now card to pop up and tell you your 20 minutes from home or such, there is nothing you lose turning it off.

Just set the other location to 'battery mode' or if its listed as accuracy just choose mobile & WiFi only option.

Now you have the least power hungry location set up but can still get location information in apps and such. There is no need to turn off location altogether.

Sold my S6 Edge and got the S6

Sold my S6 Edge and got the S6. Loved the curved display screen. I don't use cases on my phones. I found after time i was getting a lot of false touches due to the curved screen when holding the phone. My fingers would touch the curved edges and read as a touch.
I don't have this happen on the regular S6. The regular S6 is a little heavier than the Edge but I don't think that is a bad thing.
I am really loving the size of the S6. I have rediscovered how great it is to use a phone one handed again!
So much so that I sold my iPhone 6+ and got a regular IP6 too.
I downsize my whole line up!

Except for the Nexus 6. I keep that one for flashing roms and getting the latest updates. I missed being able to tinker and flash different roms. It make the phone feel new each time i flash a different rom.

I have a serious problem guys, You know I have been sticking with my 6+ and I have bought 2 S6's and returned them lol. (I have a problem but I know im not the only one!) After navigating through thte 6+ and putting it under heavy stress, I find it to not be able to handle it well after using the S6's 3GB of RAM.

I think I am going to BB and get the S6 again and they are running a deal on a free Samsung Wireless charging pad as well. I am actually going to stick with the S6 this time and I am selling my 6+ and I know I will not regret it.

HA! I knew you would be back! This is why I have a IP8 and S6. I find myself missing my iphone from time to time. Then switch back and love it at first. Then slowly i find it has less functionality and customizations. Then I switch back to my S6 phone.

Conversely I actually find my S6e very poor memory management wise. I still find apps refreshing way too much than they should. Now I am pretty much only using my edge as a phone and using my 6+ & Nexus 6 for more heavy media consumption. I have a thread over on the S6e forum on XDA and many other are reporting similar problem with apps like Tapatalk and Pandora excessively refreshing on the 6e.

Actually look what has just appeared on Sammobile

http://www.sammobile.com/2015/04/28/poor-ram-management-affecting-the-galaxy-s6-and-s6-edge/

Have you noticed your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge killing apps too quickly during usage, and still taking up a lot of the available RAM at all times? Well, you’re not alone, as this issue seems to be affecting a lot of users out there, some of whom have voiced their concern over on the XDA development forums.

I’ve personally been irritated by the horrendous RAM management on my Galaxy S6 edge – apps like WhatsApp and Facebook, which usually stay in memory and show up instantly on devices with 2GB+ RAM, often take time to load as the phone keeps killing their processes. It’s a problem with browsing as well. Chrome will often reload when you go back to it, even if you have only opened one other app after sending it to the background.

Android is designed to remove older apps from memory to free up RAM for current tasks, but the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge seem to take it too far despite having 3GB of RAM (and considerably less bloat than previous Samsung devices taking up memory.) However, the fact that despite killing apps too quickly the phones seem to have very little available RAM suggests it’s a bug and not something deliberate.

Some might say that this is a fault of Android 5.0 Lollipop – indeed, Lollipop does have a memory leak issue, but that doesn’t make the OS aggressive against keeping apps in memory on other devices. Hopefully, Samsung will fix what is one of the very few issues on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge’s software through a software update as soon as it possibly can, as there doesn’t seem to be any stop-gap solution to the problem at this point.

and even phonearena

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Galaxy-S6-exhibiting-overzealous-RAM-management-report-users_id68745

The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge come with the latest cutthroat DDR4 RAM technology, and 3 GB of the good stuff at that, but when it comes to the actual RAM management, Samsung might have dropped the ball, judging from several forum threads and user reports.

In a nutshell, Galaxy S6 owners are reporting a very aggressive RAM management, to the point where apps get constantly shut down, and there's 200-400 MB of RAM left only at any given time. Granted, Android's RAM usage is made this way, and the system feels best when most of the available RAM is utilized, that is why task killers and RAM boosters are never a good idea, but still.

The users have already reported this issue to Samsung, and there might be a software update in the future to bring on a more efficient RAM management - we can only imagine the app sprawling that will be happening on phones with Lollipop and 4 GB of RAM, of which there are already a few out there.

I hope they release a micro update or push out 5.1 soon because it currently makes my S6e feel very limited. It's actually refreshing more than my 6+ with 3x less ram, and compared my nexus 6 - it's just night & day.

One of the biggest things I love about the nexus 6 is that it never refreshes my apps when I leave them. Especially chrome. It's amazing and haven't had a device with as good as memory management as this one.

Same here.....I don't mind the app refreshes for the ability to customize my phone. Like have a different notification sound for each email address i use and a notification light to match. The app refreshes is a known issue that I can live with.

Yeah I actually never seem to use the multi-task functions and I know that may sound crazy but the phone picks up network speeds so quick the refresh is instant and I really do not need to be right where I left off at. But I can see how that could be an issue for some.

Why would app refreshing be done on purpose? To update the app when you return to it? This is by design?

Definitely not without it's faults. I still can't believe the device prompts a pop up to explain what airplane mode does whenever you turn it on. Annoying.

You could do that on gpe :( ugh and this memory issue wouldn't exist either, dammit I want gpe

Crying over spilt milk again, but it would be perfect! Just include the samsung camera app and bam best android phone ever. They should be able to get their other apps working without the heavy frameworks I just don't get why they don't do it!

I would love to have a GPE S6! That would be heaven. I would even forgo my warranty to be able to root and unlock BL on my S6. But I need Verizon as my carrier and they lock them down. Now TMO will let you unlock the BL on their phones. So you could turn a TMO S6 into a GPE pretty much.
