I really wonder if the Gold S6 looks good or not. Sometimes it's hard to tell cause of the lighting and reflections. For example, it doesn't quite look as good here:

What's with it looking like silver sometimes?
Glad I am getting the white one......

I may have to go for the white one too. I hope the Gold versions are put out for display somewhere.

Are ya'll talking about the black and blue S6 edge in that photo? I think it looks awesome!!......:D

Still set on the emerald green barring a big pricetag/yield issue that causes me to lose interest.

Gotta see them before I choose, best way to go and then I can play with them too. :)

I think the preorder date at BB is the 27th, the same date they should be on display but like I said I hope I can see them sooner.

I have Rewards points and gift cards and I am hoping for some incentives for preordering one.

The color is gold platinum. It's gold, but when the light hits it, it looks platinum-ish.

I like that Samsung's color names are jewelry names, since the phones do glimmer like jewels.

That is how a review is done way earlier than should be apparently going by some conflicting things I am reading

Chainfire roots T-Mobile Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge prior to official release

Looks like the S6 on TMO is getting some root love.....

It’s pretty rare to see an Android device that doesn’t get rooted at some point in it’s life cycle, and it looks like Samsung’s Galaxy S6 isn’t going to escape that fate. Chainfire’s famous root method has already been confirmed to work on T-Mobile Galaxy S6 and its Edge variant, and those devices aren’t publicly available yet.

Apparently there weren’t many changes that needed to be made, so T-Mobile isn’t going to be locking this one down like some other carriers inevitably will be. Chainfire does mention that rooting the device is very likely to trip Samsung’s KNOX security measures, and an untripped KNOX will probably be required for phone based payments. If you root the device, say goodbye to one of the biggest selling points of the GS6.

Either way, we’ve got at least a month to go before the S6 hits T-Mobile’s network officially, so you’ve got some time to think it over.

Wait, so per that review, there wil be a model with a removable back and a SD Slot?

not sure if you or others haven't paid attention to news lately but the lack of sd cards in android phones is not exactly samsung or any other oem's fault. google is asking companies to stop with android 5.0... you can search google as to why that is.

so even if you do wait for an sd card samsung phone, eventually you will have to give up as there will be no more sd card phones on the market.

Interesting theory about the SD card, but the M9 is retaining the SD card. I guess Samsung has a closer relationship to Google than HTC does... Wasn't there that big Samsung/Google "deal" a while back? Maybe part of the deal was that Samsung would remove SD card from the next Galaxy phone?

Did Google ask HTC and HTC just said no? Ditto Sony?

it's not an obligation, its a suggestion by google, hinting companies to stop, i'm not too familiar with the terms etc because i don't care at all however you can search google... you'll find it.

Forget benchmark devices, thinking you mean device specs instead. As far as benchmarks, pretty sure the iPhones scored well. AND with 1gb of ram.
No I mean benchmark quality of screens not the grey mid-res stuff apple sells. 4k recording on camera. Edge control like on Note Edge, not even on the radar for Apple.

Folks swarmed to the new iPhones in droves, lines at nearby local stores for weeks after launch. Even with Apple anticipating large demand and making stock on hand more available than ever it still did not matter.
You seen the politicians they vote for? Need we say more about judging by number of sheep?

These are benchmark devices, bud. Give Samsung their due credit.

Another Galaxy S6 review..... Fingerprint scanner

Getting excited about the S6 and the fingerprint scanner. TouchID on my 6+ is the best i have used. From the reviews i have read the new scanner on the S6 is just as good.

The difference is immediately obvious. Even after unlocking the Galaxy S6 dozens of times, clutching the phone in all manner of weird ways and stabbing down my thumb from all kinds of angles, I only saw it stumble a couple of times. And that’s only because I was really trying to get it to fail.

The scanner can once again be used to unlock the phone, as well as pay for stuff via PayPal without entering a password. And soon it will hopefully be used for Samsung’ Pay, to authorise real-life transactions - but don’t hold your breath as it’ll likely be a while coming to the UK.

I'm really trying to do my research about TouchWiz, so apparently another issue is that TW slows down over time? For no real discernible reason?

Is this true?

Depends on who you ask...

Some folks have experienced this, others not so much. But it could be highly dependent on usage pattern between users. Certainly there are more reports of this happening than on stock android or Sense.

Likewise you always have that risk that they botch something in a Touchwiz update that makes your device perform like its wading in treacle (such as my lollipop note 4 update). But again this can affect some users and not others.

So yes there is always the potential of touchwiz being a complete pig, and probably more chance than on other android skins - but it's still not a vastly common issue as it once was a few years back. Indeed 2014 Touchwiz onwards generally has been the smoothest it's ever ran, with caveats of course.

Basically if they have improved not so much on the smoothness of the GUI (for most part since S5 the GUI on top tier Samsung devices has been very smooth) but the memory management side (it's here under the hood where touchwiz can be most culpable for the often reported lag and refreshing issues) then I wouldn't be too concerned. The S6 has more ram then the S5 so the app refreshing it suffered shouldn't be an issue on the S6 (in theory). So yeah as long as you don't get a dodgy firmware update that banjaxes that like the DBT Lollipop update I wouldn't be too concerned about it slowing down over time.

But.... Before taking that as gospel, I do however want to see exactly what memory the S6 uses at stand still.... I am concerned that of all the early hands on reports and even GSM Arena review not once has someone reported what memory is used by the system and how much is left to the user. That concerns me that there is so much silence in this regard, from even the likes of Erica Griffin who normally goes very in depth and GSM not even covering it - in case as often there is - a NDA clause about that reporting on that side until it's 'final retail software'....

So yeah wait and see and if your unsure - just wait till someone here picks one up and user reports begin hitting the net. If there are issues - users will report them likely sooner than the tech journalists / bloggers these days...
