One of the best shows Ive seen on television, period. I havent read the books, but will eventually. For the ones who have read the books...based on what you have seen so far, how many more seasons do you see for GoT?

Depends. If they wait around and actually do it to the end (waiting on GRRM to write the last two books) I say it'll get 8-10 seasons. I think they'll split this season in half. So book 4 season 5, book 5 seasons 6/7 and book 6 who knows?

That would match the UK books; books 3 and 5 are split into two volumes each due to the amount of content so there's logic in splitting up the TV series the same way.

The latest episode was good; I particularly liked Dany's scene (I've been waiting for it for a couple of weeks now! :p)

Yeah my gf is a huge Dany fan, and so far has been disappointed in the amount of appearance, but she liked the in.

Also, happy to see that Reek is still going to be a thing, they did what I hoped.

Episode 4 was really good. Being as I haven't got that far in the books it seems to be building up to something amazing!

Dany's scene and the bastard scene were amazing.

This thread seems to have petered out; is everyone still watching? Finally seen the power of obsidian (dragonglass) in this week's one :)

Quite pleased with last Sunday's episode. I've not read the books, but would it be out of line to say obsidian takes care of the White Walker problem? ;)

I was a little bit disappointed (just with myself), since I got excited when I saw the description for Sunday's episode mentioned "wedding", but then bummed as I'd completely forgot about that one, while DYING (ha!) to see either of the other two weddings this season!

My wife and I are really enjoying the show.

I had previously read books 1-4. I loved books 1, 2, and 3, but thought book 4 should have been drastically edited down... to half or a quarter of its published size (since it's the same, I'm not going to bother with reading book 5.)

I hope the show doesn't get bogged down like the books.

No S*** GoT Spoiler, Read At Your Own Risk!

I have a friend who has read all of the books and what bums me out is that she says at the end of Book 5, No Targarian or Dragons have set foot on Westeros. Considering the size of these books, the dragons could be viewed as a big tease or the author dragging his foot. At this rate, he may croak before the end of this story. :(

I had that happen to me with that Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. After 12,000 or so pages worth of this epic story, he was diagnosed with a terminal disease. He wrote copious notes on how the series was supposed to end, so luckily another author, Branden Sorensen, finished up the last 3,000 pages worth of the story. Still not quite the same, though.

I loved the shock, awe, rage, and spoilers on social media tonight.

I think it all can be summed up as #shouldreadthebook. I haven't seen it yet (will DL tomorrow after work), but I already know what's in store.

I really wasnt expecting all of that to happen. I havent read the book, so I dont know what to expect anyways, but that was nuts tonight. I had the feeling that the bride would be pretty, but I didnt expect all of them to die in the end (spoiler). Next season will not get here soon enough.

I made the decision to watch Season 3 before reading the book and this is one of those moments where it paid off. I'm surprised this was not the season finale, one more episode to go, as I wonder how they are going to top last night's events.

This has been their cadence. Poo hits the fan in episode 9. Everyone acknowledges poo hit fan in episode 10.

Spoilers Within!

Last night's episode really cemented my dislike for actors David Bradly (Walter Frey), the grumply grounds keeper from Harry Potter and Charles Dance (Tywin "Greetings from the Lannisters" Lannister). Hey, I held a grudge against Paul Reiser for years for his role in Aliens. ;)

This really puts the war in flux. I have no idea who will rise to replace Rob Stark, if anyone. For King of the North, the likely candidate seems to be Jon Snow, the bastard son of Eddard Stark. Then there is Stannis Barratheon, whose Red Lady has gotten her hands on Robert Barratheon's bastard son, but to what end?

If you've read the book, no need to fill me in! :p
