Hell yeah! Garlic bread rocks. My favorite is from Alexia, it's a garlic baguette, but it contains dairy (butter) and since I'm trying to go vegan I'll have to find an alternative.

just try getting a vegetable oil based margarine, it's a pretty solid option really.

i love garlic bread, and agree with the idea of putting garlic in/on everything. i tend to use garlic powder, just cause it's easier and actually sometimes gets more of the flavor. i love these garlic parmesan pita chips that they have at trader joe's... mmmm

FACT: Texas Toast is available ANYWHERE in the country, not just Texas.
FACT 2: In Texas, we call "texas toast" TOAST. Normal toast is called melba toast, and melba toast doesn't exist. We do it big.

I should be the ambassador to Texas.. awesome.

in texas you also have: steakhouses everywhere, lots of fake boobs, people who hate gays, and a high death penalty rate...

i should be the anti-ambassador to texas. ;)

I feel that way about Tabasco (except the meat of course). Stick it in scrambled eggs. Yum!!

I love garlic bread and I really love Tabasco!!!

I have a bottle of it in work, at home, in my mates shopin case I have a bacon and egg roll in town, plus I leave a bottle at friends houses if I visit them often.
I much prefer the Habanero version.

Well, call me crazy, but my new favorite food is garlic bread, especially the "Texas Toast" variety. Do any other macheads like garlic bread?
Very much so.

I like it just a bit crispy on the outside but soft in the middle.

A store near here makes quarter sticks. Very tasty.

Fresh Bagette, Finely minced Garlic and Butter. Mmmm.

It's all about the bread. Can't use any of the out of a bag cr*p.

For vegans do it bruschetta style. Extra virgin olive oil with garlic on a nice vegan crusty bread from the bakery.

I might be crazy, but I like the cheap garlic bread - you know, the $4 loaf you get at the frozen food section.

Wrap it in tin foil, throw it on the grill with some steaks, and it's the best :D

(Then again, I'm also known to make regular toast, butter it, sprinkle garlic powder on it, and call it "garlic bread".... )

Garlic usually makes everything better. Eggs, chili, pasta sauce, meat. Haven't tried garlic ice cream yet...

... There is a gelato place near my house that has 125 flavours guaranteed in store and usually during the summer months they are up to 350 or so.
last summer I had a three scoop combo of Garlic , Beer and Wasabi gelato , it was wickedly good. the wasabi had the perfect kick to it. the garlic was smooth and good and the beer one was actually fizzy... my favorite in the 12 mini scoop sampler. Right now the blue cheese and pear is my favorite.

well i can appreciate all levels of fancyness when it comes to garlic bread. and i've certainly been known to toast up some bread, hit it with some garlic powder, and eat it with my spaghetti or whatever.

oh, and how about garlic naan? mmmmmm. trader joe's stocks a really awesome frozen package of garlic naan. very tasty

Now you've got me salivating LOL

There's an indian place near where I live, Raja Rani, which has incredible garlic naan and masala naan.

Unfortunately, sprinkling garam masala on a roasted pita doesn't work in this case...

Garlic...? Bread...? Garlic Bread...? :D

In desperation, yes. I've done it.
And I'd do it again.

I love garlic bread and feel that it can never have enough garlic on it. I prefer just plain roasted garlic to garlic bread, though. Yummy.

Love it. I make mine with roasted garlic though. Take a whole head (or two) of garlic, cut the top off to expose all the cloves inside, drizzle some olive oil and salt and pepper over it and put it (wrapped in tinfoil) in a 350 degree oven for about an hour. Meanwhile, put a stick of butter on the counter to warm to room temperature. When the garlic comes out of the oven, put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes so it's cool enough to handle, then squeeze all that yummy garlic goodness out into a small bowl. Mash lightly with a fork, then add softened butter and mix well.

Spread on a loaf of bread, top with some shredded parmesean cheese (the real stuff, not the crap from the green canister) and put under the broiler for a minute or two. DO NOT WALK AWAY! Things under the broiler will go from GBD (Golden Brown and Delicious) to blackened in less than 30 seconds.

Remove from oven and enjoy....

Garrrrrlicc???? get that stuff away from me!! I can't stand the smell of garlic, i once threw up from the intense smell.

But, i see am alone on this, so enjoy your garlic breads people! :D

so then, who else is rushing home (stopping only at the grocery store for much needed items) to make garlic bread a la mactastic???? hot damn

I am!

I just have to wait until ~midnight when it's cool enough to turn on the oven without heating up the whole house.

*drool*

Like Josh, I'm a big fan of Garlic Bread a lo pobre. But, that's mostly because when I was younger I would come home from school and it was the quickest way to make an after school snack.

If I can get Lori to stomach it, I might make it for her....this has gotten me really hungry...

Garlic nan is definitely the shiznit, or even plain nan really.

Texas also executes the mentally retarded. Go Texas!

Texas Toast is a variety? I thought that it was the variety...

I love garlic foods. My wife and I often eat garlic. I think that if the Vampire Lestat (or any vampire) came up and offered me eternal life my main reason for turning him down would be that I could no longer eat garlic :)
