Had a bad experience with garlic bread so i dont eat it much
My mom (bless her heart) thought it was a good idea to take french bread, butter, and what i assumed she did was pour garlic salt on it
boy did that s*it make your mouth pucker not to mention ruin your appetite

To this day every one remembers the "Garlic Salt Toast"
I bring it up to my wife every once in a while just for laughs to see if she remembers, and she says
"Oh I remember it, clear as a bell"

It's good, but too much cheese really ruins it. Actually, I don't like any cheese on mine. Just the olive oil, spices, and so on.

I love garlic bread. But it's much, much better on a good ciabatta. Texas toast doesn't have any texture at all. I don't like cheese on it either - just oil, or butter, and garlic.

Fresh minced garlic is lots better than garlic powder, too. And don't forget some good pasta with tomato sauce to sop up with the bread.
