The only way (I see, at least) iPhone users are going to be able to play ROMs (VERY successfully) is if someone makes a cheap (they'll probably make it $20 so they make a fortune) SNES controller to plug into the bottom of the iPhone

This would solve ALL problems for SNES, NES, Game Gear, GBA, GB, GBC, Etc.

From what I've read up the Controls are the only thing holding people back from implementing such ROMs into the iPhone (especially the SNES)

TO GET A FULLY WORKING BIOS go to Google and type in gba_bios.bin. Its the very first result. Remember guys, when in doubt you use GOOGLE!

That would be incredibly awesome, but somehow I can't ever see that happening. :(

There are plenty of games for all those consoles that would probably be better controlled with the iPhone screen than they had been with their original controllers. RPGs, strategies, adventures etc.

I keep saying, it; PHOENIX WRIGHT! :D

EDIT: Also, how does Pokemon etc. fair on the new 0.0.7?

Wouldn't that require a lot of re-coding of the games so you can actually touch a button in the game?

.. yeah probably xD Didn't think of that ^^

DS though, I don't think devs should delay work on an emulator for fear of not being able to emulate the buttons, it's perfectly fine IMO to produce an emulator that would only be practical with certain kinds of DS games.

Oh and btw, emulation aside, how does the iPhones graphical capability stack up with the DSs? Is there any 3D capability there? 2D I assume is equal if not much better on the iPhone, sound certainly is, ditto video. How about RAM?

I'm just trying to think how far native iPhone games could go.

I installed the app via installer and copied the *.GBA roms over to the specified directory. Ran the app, chose my game and the to control interface appears, but the screen part stays blank. Nothing happens. Tried all 6 games I have and nothing happens.

Does this app work on 1.1.2 iPhone FW? I just upgraded, unlocked and jailbreak.

You have to put the gba_bios bin in the gba apps folder. and yes it does work on 1.1.2

I know this is an older thread but here it is:

Have an iphone 3g with GBA working. I installed the bio file in gpSphone.app - so it works but when it plays the game it starts stops starts stops starts stops starts stops starts stops starts stops .. ect.

What did I do wrong - isn't it supose to run smooth and consistently?

Thanks for any info you may be able to provide!

Short Answer: No. Welcome to emulation.

Long Answer: The iPhone isn't quite powerful enough to emulate the GBA at full speed. That, and different roms have performace issues with emulators. Heck, even the NES emulation has problems.

If anyone wanted the Pad I made. Give credit if you're going to repost or share.

Great! Now all we need a is DS emulator...there's more than enough screen real estate, but the iPhone's hardware probably can't handle it is my guess.

EDIT: Great...no Leopard support...

Actually the iPhone is much more powerful than the DS

Yes but running an emulator = more power needed.

Anyways can we see a screen shot of how it looks on the iPhone?
