Yes, this happened to me the first try.
I basically did the following:
1. Factory reset watch or shut off if you have no option to factory reset. Close out of S3 app on iPhone.
2. Go to iPhone settings, then Bluetooth and forget the watch. Stay in BT settings.
3. Turn watch back on and wait for phone to see watch in BT settings and re-pair.
4. Open S3 app on phone and retry setting up watch again. This worked for me on the second try.

Remember, this is a Beta app and Samsung is getting a lot of feedback from developers to fix these glitches. Unfortunately, unlike Apple, Samsung is unbearably slow when it comes to software!!! Very annoying for a Tizen developer like myself!

Success!! Thanks for the help. Now the only problem is keeping it connected.

I was able to use the app and download some apps onto the watch, but now it doesn't seem to want to connect again. At least there is progress.

Thanks again

The app must remain open in the background on your phone. This is how I always have mine. See pic below.

And you noticed that once you go into the Galaxy App store, there is no way to use the back button to go back to the Gear Manager app. You have to close out of the app completely and reopen.

Thanks again for the info. I have the app running in the background, and it will disconnect and reconnect pretty constantly. I was chalking it up to it being a beta.

Do you know how many Bluetooth devices an iPhone can be connected to at once? I noticed the watch takes up two (not sure why) and my cars Bluetooth acted up today for the first time so I didn't know if there was a limit.

You will have two BT connections for the S3, because you have an LTE version (the one with an LE at the end, should be the connected one). I believe this allows for the remote connection? Not exactly sure why it is set up like that?

As for connects and disconnects, I do not have that issue, but I only have at max 2 BT connections at once. Usually my car and my watch.

The gear s3 frontier looks incredible. The software looks really smart and slick too.

First smartwatch I'm interested in. I'm also impressed by the three-to-four days of battery life reviews are saying.

I keep everything on with my S3... GPS, LTE, Always on display, brightness at 8, BT, plus every notification from every app and 2 days is what you will get.

Thanks for starting this thread. My husband loves his Gear S2 and S7 Edge combo. He wants the S3 Frontier for Christmas. If one wants an LTE enabled version is the only way to get it through the carrier? We both got spoiled having our S2s able to function freely from the phones.

I love my S2 sport but it's so big so there is no hope of me getting an S3. I'd have to wear it around my ankle. :p I do appreciate the step counter and how it gives me various readings but I miss my activity rings on my Apple Watch. If I could get my Apple Watch to work with my HTC 10 or my S7 Edge that would be my ideal. Oh well at least when I switch back to my SE for the summer I can get back on my fitness groove with my Apple Watch.

Yep, LTE version is only available through carriers. ATT is the best option if you are with them, since they can duo-port the phone number on the watch to match your phone. T-Mobile still has the watch with a separate phone number. As long as the watch and phone are connected via BT, no big deal. But you have to forward your phone calls to your watch if you plan to leave the phone behind.

Lloyd, I know you're using the LTE version with a seperate number fromn your iPhone but wonder if anyone has successfully been able to set up AT&T's NumberSync with a Gear S3/iPhone combo?

No idea. I have not seen any posts yet from an ATT user.

Hey there! I'm using an iPhone 6s with my Gear S3 Frontier on AT&T. The app is pretty buggy, and since it is the beta I'm thinking it's the reason that I can't activate my NumberSync. This is the first wearable I've purchased that has LTE functionality. The app asks you to go into your connections page and go to NumberSync... however that option is not there. Since the app is what downloads software on the S3 (right?) or at least certain parts of the software, that could be the problem. I think you might also have to be the main line on the account to receive the NumberSync feature. I don't remember where I read something like that, but tomorrow I will call AT&T to see what they say.

Other than that problem (will probably be fixed when the official app rolls out), I'm loving this thing! It looks great, and really works well. I hope the app selection gets better... I got stuck in the "my apps" section on the Gear S3 app, couldn't back out at all. Restarted the app, restarted my phone.... all to no avail. Had to reconnect my phone and watch through the whole process again by soft reseting the watch. Then another time, the phone and watch disconnected, and never reconnected. Tried everything, had to soft reset again. Regardless, even with all these problems, I'm loving it. What can you expect with a beta, leaked IPA?

Battery life is good, but with everything on (GPS, data, always on display, wifi, notifications, etc) I'll probably only get 1 day out of it. First day I played a lot with it, downloading apps, watchfaces, checking the games out, Google Maps, etc... Ha, didn't last very long.

I wish I was able to reply to texts that come from the phone, though. I wonder if the NumberSync will fix that, even if they're iMessages, hopefully it will just send as text...

I'm currently using:
◊ Brightness at 6
◊ Auto low brightness
◊ Screen timeout 15 seconds
◊ Bluetooth on
◊ Mobile Networks Auto on/off
◊ Wifi off
◊ Location off
◊ Notifications on
◊ Auto heart rate off

with that set up I've used up 30% of the battery in 12 hours. So, theoretically I'll get 1.67 days of battery at this rate. That it, if I don't use the apps, get barraged by notifications, or have/make phone calls. What is your secret to such great battery life? I might as well have every single thing on and charge it every night at this rate.

Interesting on your battery use. I have heart rate on, notifications on, location on, wifi always on, mobile networks always on, BT on, screen timeout 1 minute, brightness at 7, auto low brightness off, and still get 1.5 days.

I also don't have the same issues that you are describing. My watch will auto reconnect back to my phone if I go out of range and then back into range. The 1 time it didn't, I simply turned the watch off and back on and it was fine. The Galaxy App store glitch of getting stuck and not being able to back out is normal, but having to reset your watch and repair to phone is def not normal! You are the first person I have heard having that particular issue? Weird.

I always keep the Gear S3 open in the background of my phone and I'm also on iOS 10.2 public beta 4 with my iPhone 7+. Are you still on 10.1.1? I have heard that there are some battery issues with the iPhone 6 variants, so wondering if there could be some problems with the S3 beta app and the phone and/or watch?

Oh, man I would love to have all those on and get that sort of battery life!

Real quick, what are the pros of having your wifi always on? If you put it on auto, won't it use your phone's wifi signal because it is connected via Bluetooth? I'm curious as to what speed difference there is, and if you have it on wifi does it override the phone's data transfer and just use the wifi directly on your watch?

Yeah, I got pretty upset when I couldn't back out of "the my" apps or whatever it's called (I fear going back into the apps section haha). I might try again at some point, though.

Ah, well that makes quite a bit of sense regarding the OS version. Currently, I am on 9.3.3. I am currently jailbroken because of a few tweaks I missed ever so dearly. Nothing crazy is added, though. I have a tweak called swipe selection pro (wonderful for texting), activator, a display recorder, iCleaner, Kairos, NoAppstoreRedirect, OneHandWizard, SendDelay, SpeedIntensifier, Swipe Home, and YouTube ++. I also have some little cosmetic things like a carrier icon changer... but nothing that should interfere with Bluetooth or the Gear S3 app itself... however everything gets thrown out the window when on an older OS, AND a jailbreak, I presume.

I'm genuinely curious if that's the issue or the fact that I'm using an iPhone 6s... Where have you heard of the iPhone 6 variants causing watch battery efficiency to dwindle?

I'm on the fence about upgrading to the newest firmware... But I might just go ahead and do it. The main tweak I'll miss is the SwipeSelectionPro... but I think it's time.

That explains it. You are jailbroken. You never know which apps will, or will not, play nice together when you are jailbroken. This sounds like there is a software conflict between the gear beta app and another Cydia tweak. Just guessing though.

It's possible, however I can't really see which cydia tweak would conflict it. Nothing else on my phone has suffered from cydia, and in fact my iPhone's battery life has increased ever since I've jailbroken... although, that may just be how I feel since I don't have to do as much on my phone and it feels like the battery lasts longer. Either way, it definitely had 0% impact on battery life. I'm going to assume that because I'm on 9.3.3 it isn't as efficient with the app. The Gear S3 app is probably optimized for 10.1+

Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help me, I can't get imassage work on my gear s3 clasic

I'm sorry to inform you, but that won't work. Currently, you can't even reply to a normal text on even the frontier model unless you have NumberSync on (an AT&T feature). Perhaps when the official Gear S3 app rolls out in the App Store there will be some way of having the app take care of text messages and then send them to the watch, but iMessages? Nope, you'll only get notifications for those.

Hi Lloyd,
I need , if possible, your help:

I’ve a S3 Frontier BT (non LTE version) and in Settings / Bluetooth of my IPhone 6 I can find two S3 devices: a Gear S3 (8F9A) LE, combined properly, and a Gear S3 (8F9A) that I can not combine in any way. However, when I try to make a call, a pop up tells me that both devices must be paired.
S3 and Iphone are well paired; wifi and BT always connected.

I’ve seen your post #29 but I’m not sure about what to do.

Have you maybe a tip?
One more question: How can I upload music via Iphone ?
Many thanks for your help.

Well folks, I received my Gear S3 Frontier LTE for AT&T last night and can answer some of the questions posed above. I'm using an iPhone SE:

1) The LTE AT&T can be purchased at Best Buy in addition to the carrier.

2) As far as operating the watch with the IOS Beta App -
* NumberSync with AT&T can not be set up.
* The Galaxy App Store works just fine BUT - the apps are limited to free apps and free watch faces. You can not download any app that requires a payment.
* The set up of the watch was flawless - even imported my contacts.
* Notifications for the apps I use; messages, phone calls, ring doorbell worked just fine.
* The Beta App is a bit buggy, as one would expect but usable with the limited capabilities I noted.

3) Bottom line - I currently have the Apple Watch 2 Nike + 42mm and I like it but love the Samsung S3 Frontier watch. However, I am going to return it until the IOS Gear Manager App is finalized and NumberSync and the App Store work properly.
