Got my 6th gen Nano today. Silver 8gb, like everyone else is getting. Making s trip to the apple store next weekend to get a watch band for it.

Today I received the ship notification and serial number, and it is a 6th gen. Moreso, it looks like it IS under warranty:

Anyone else get this?

Same here, my Nano is supposedly on the FedEx truck for delivery today, system shows it as a 6th gen with a full warranty.

It was confirmed buy a Apple call center staff that they are shipping out 6th generations and not 1st generations...

And all those people whining over not getting there first generation back, just ****, If you really, really want a first generation back im prett sure anyone with a brain would swap a 1st generation nano for a 6th generation nano.

I'm not whining, per se, but I collect iPods and am now missing my mint first gen white nano. if "anyone with a brain" received a first gen white nano but really prefers a new 8GB silver nano, please contact me and I'll gladly trade you! I think you can PM me on the forum or else email me at amethystjw (at symbol) yahoo -dot- com

Got my two 6th gen Nanos today. Absolutely incredible. Who would have thought spending $150 on a 1GB Nano 5 years ago would result in a free 8GB Nano years later? Awesome.

I paid a lot more than $150 for my 1st Gen 4GB Nano, so this deal while good, isn't as sweet as yours. But I'll still take it. :)

Check again...your warranty info will change as these do not come with a warranty or any way to buy applecare.

Did you receive yours today? I got "On FedEx vehicle for delivery", but with "Scheduled for delivery next business day", which it displayed all day. I think Fedex's motto is "adding insult to injury". :) It was shipped yesterday, from Reno (I live in Reno), and they said it will take 5 days to arrive. Then they loaded it on a truck on a Saturday, and drove it around all day without intending to deliver it.

Oh well, I don't particularly need it right away, I'm just an obsessive tracker.

According to FedEx's tracking information, I should receive mine on the 28th. Excited!! :D

Am I the only one that was able to buy the extended Apple Care on my nano? I checked my serial number the day I got my email. It said that day was my last day of a full warranty. I decided what the heck I'll attempt to expand my coverage. I bought the $39 Apple Care and have the funds pulled, so as far as I can tell I got the coverage.

Does apple send you an email when it ships?

I sent off my iPod Nano and didn't keep the tracking number or the serial number :(

How are you guys checking the process?

Yeah they just emailed me this morning, seems a Silver 8GB is en route.

Kinda of a shame at the same time though.... had a real sweet spot for that 1st gen nano. Then again, a free upgrade will not be complained about!

Okay cool. Well I guess i'll just wait for my email. I never got a confirmation email from them with my repair claim number so I can't even check on the status of the iPod.

Got my email today. How can you tell if you're getting a 6th gen? I tried the replacement product serial number on the Apple website and it says its not found.

The empty box shipped yesterday so I am hoping it gets here tomorrow get my 1st gen shipped back and hope to get a 6G in return. I could use a new watch..... :p

Probably, your timing was perfect. My unit first showed it was eligible for Applecare. I did not buy it on the spot and later it was not eligible.

This is a not to others. If you want applecare, buy it the moment you get the email.

Is apple still accepting nanos for the replacement program? I have a 1st gen, barely used at all, probably not more than 24hrs total use on it. I was debating on whether to send it in or not, and waiting to see what model they sent as a replacement for other people. Seeing that it's the 6th gen, I'm thinking I don't have much to loose by sending it in, and actually I'd be gaining 6GB since my 1st gen nano is only 2gb.

Sooo... are they still accepting nanos? Does anyone know when the program is scheduled to end?

Received my replacement yesterday evening around 6 PM, synced it, etc.

Dropped it at 6 AM this morning on tile floor in kitchen and cracked screen.

Karma, I guess. My first gen that was sent in was in mint (physical) condition.

Alas.
