I certainly see image editing and art creation/manipulation being targeted for a tablet and stylus experience. All these images Ive made using art studio:

Given the fact that you've exhibited trouble embedding links in your previous posts and now photos tells me you need to practice a bit on basics before trying to find a need in your life for an iPad. :p

Not to mention you selected the smallest images to view. Now if you want to take 5 of my RAW images from a DSLR and blend them to a photo realistic HDR Image on the tablet of your choice insuring that their output will match my calibrated monitor and printer, just let me know and I'll send them to you to video tape. I'll let you use my iP4 to video it all in process too. Let me call my client, a real estate agent and tell him you'll get right on that too.

Actually I didnt even use a stylus for those images just my finger. Real pain too due to the fact how art studio has a hard time allowing you select what you want or sections so you have to use the erase tool all the time around lawyers and with a finger your always cutting the edges or near where borders meet. Again if they made the selextion pess more ideal and better filling, paont bucket, etc...... I can go on.

How am I a troll. Because i think a peoduct I own isnt living up to its full potential?

How is it not living up to it's full potential?

How is that the hardware or OS's fault?

You've still not answered what it is you wish to use it for. Care to share?

How have I while not even trying not shown you several applications the iPad does that are better there than on the other iProducts?

what the hell are you typing on that doesn't include spell checker?

Fair enough that the iPad wasn't designed for some things, but that's not an excuse when the competition can do it. My comment was to show that my android mobile is basically a capable laptop replacement, and that's just 2.3, let alone the redesigned 3.0.

It's not an excuse. The iPad wasn't brought out to be a laptop replacement. In fact it's simplicity is exactly why many are buying it and what it was intended to be used for. I have a laptop and don't need a smaller version of it that does exactly the same thing. My Panasonic Tough book is already small, has a hand strap, removable shock resistant HD, is splash resistant, has an 11" touch screen and only weighs 2.5 lbs and runs for 8hrs on the whole time without needing a charge. It's been around that way for years too. Old school really. (I used to work for Panny)

While it has a slicker interface, iOS has a very long way to go to catch up to android in terms of function and flexibility. My hope is that apple recognise this and that iOS 5 will plug those holes. I think it's reasonable to expect they will, they've always shown commitment to continually improving their products

I have no doubt they will improve on the iOS too. However, again, I don't think they were out to capture all the function the android based apps were going after. Actually, IMO, the hardware makers are the ones trying to catch Apple. I don't see Apple trying to catch Adroid's OS at all. Apple is creating this space not the others. Just like they did with the iPhone. There, Apple did what RIM should have done long before.

Again, it's the experience and why that makes Apple's marketing so genius. Not the what. Hell, we have people right here in this thread that can't help but talk about the iPad and you know want one, but can't for the life of them figure out why? That's powerful marketing. That's Apple.

So your telling me appl cant make imovie better than the iphone version?

I think a windos 7 or 8 tablet will eventually overtake apple if they continue in their ways. Microsoft is just too busy with windows phone atm imo.

I don't have experience with iMovie nor do I have a need. Doesn't mean I won't in the future, but I'll base my thoughts on not being a user vs making predictions.

That said, I will say that I don't know that Apple needed to change a lot just yet. Heck, the iPad2 with camera and movie ability isn't even out on the streets yet. Again, what are you looking for in the software?

Window's mobile is just about dead. IIRC they are losing marketshare. http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Mobile-and-Wireless/Windows-Phone-7-Market-Share-Dips-ComScore-294527/

If that's what Bill and Company are focused on, I'd be surprised. Well, they are still trying to get copy and paste into Win7 Mobile :) In response to Apple iOS and their hardware vs MS 7 or 8 Tablets, go ahead and believe that's what will go down. IMO, the smartest thing Apple has done is pave the way not chase or target MicroSoft. I believe what you will see is that Apple will continue to be different not chase the same.

Well I don't mean catching up in terms of sales, obviously :). But apple doesn't market this as an enlarged iPod. And the things I'm talking about aren't niche features, they're basic concepts like 'files'.

Apple didn't invent the tablet, there have been tablets for years serving various industries and uses. Apple broke it open and made it accessible to consumers with a great and simple product, and as a bonus had a full year without competition. It's still very early, far too early to talk about who is going to dominate. I just don't think they will be able to continue to get away with such unreasonable limitations (iTunes chaining, files, app communication) when the competition is moving so quickly.

Edit: Writing this on my iPad by the way :). I'd not normally be on these forums, but Im without a home pc and need to buy a new one in three months. I'm really hoping the new imacs are out by then.

I get that. However, It's my take that the concept behind the iPad and keeping control of it in the hands of the users seems to be to let us each have choices over what apps and features our devices have. iOS is basic and simple. Doesn't need to be complex and deep. Apps are the same way. Point and click and do one basic thing. Keep the cost low and the uses endless. It also allows me to use my device for business and someone else for art or music without either of us paying development for the other.

If I want folders and file access I can use Keynote. If the market demands such access, then let the developers write and app for that. Etc... I don't really see that as a limiting feature of the device. While the competition is trying to be a replacement for a laptop and all things to everyone, Apple is creating a niche for the iPad and allowing the users to define it's use and complexity while keeping the OS simple and cost effective for developers to to create away.

I never said they did. They have led the way though. Again, even with smart phones, they didn't invent them, but they sure as hell led the way and now all the rest are scrambling to catch them.

I just don't think they will be able to continue to get away with such unreasonable limitations (iTunes chaining, files, app communication) when the competition is moving so quickly.

They are smart, they will let the market take that control and the developers too. In the mean time, all the others are trying the same old thing...."build it and they will come." Good luck with that model. I still stand by the fact that it's got to be elegant, simple and relevant to what the masses want. What apple has done better than all the rest is create their own ecosystem within the world of iProducts. Will there be those that don't like it all, sure. Let them go the way of Android and their slew of hardware companies. However in the mean time, Apple will have lines of people waiting for their stuff. I just know that in my business, I could care less about being the biggest, as I'd rather be the most profitable.

I consider my iPad purchase as a laptop replacement (for Keynote and such) to be a failure. I've had it with file size, image/movie format (codec) issues. I'm done. Its great as a reader but all else is severely compromised.

I'm now looking to purchase a MacBook Air.

I use my iPad to deliver presentations using Keynote and it's fine.

It's improved during the last couple of updates. Now you can see notes and the next slide on your screen as you give TNT presentation.

Yes a few animations don't convert from the desktop Keynote but no big deal.

Not sure what your gripe as IPad keynote is cool.

Artificially hamstrung

I definitely think Apple is artificially limiting the use of the machine.

In terms of work, all I needed it to do was play Keynote files. But, getting the files on the machine was too difficult/slow. The number of images, movies, and other stuff that simply wouldn't work was just too ridiculous. The funny thing is that all of the movies, images, etc., are all created on a MacPro.

Didn't you see the keynote and the iPad 2 video? According to Steve Jobs and the Apple Vice Presidents, the iPad very officially is a "post-PC" device. I think it should be safe to assume that a "post-something" device should easily be able to replace its predecessor.

And where does an iPad offer different functionality than a laptop? It has a different form factor and a touch interface instead of a mouse, that's it.

You know what the real reason is why an iPad cannot compete with a notebook? It's because of its castrated and artificially restricted operating system. Jailbreak the device and it can very easily replace a notebook for most tasks.

The "Big iPod Touch" argument is so dead.

An SUV is also just a big car. A mansion is just a big house.

It's about USER EXPERIENCE people!

Going on the Internet, checking email, typing documents etc is a MUCH better experience with the iPad's larger screen.

Jeez...
