I have both glasses and contacts but I wear neither! And guess what... Im in a Med School!:p

But as a personal preference: Glasses! They give the best look... IF you can carry them perfectly... which is quite tough!

Interesting. I've never thought about it that way. You may argue that I've probably never thought about it at all, but I'm still giving you credit.

yeah, that's me right at the leading edge of the fashion world :D Looooong day's work.. I once wrote a 5,000-word essay on nothing by eyewear design. :p

I suppose if you're going to have this poll...you should have an option for having had lasic eye surgery. I know several people that have had this and don't need corrective lenses anymore. :D

True, but I suppose they would fall under perfect eye sight? Hmm... well, is it possible to add another option to the poll?

I'd like to try contacts because I've got a whole bunch of cool sunglasses that I had before glasses and I still like them... but don't wear them since I can't see worth crap if I don't have my corrective eye wear on.

I'm thinking of giving them a try... if I can get over the pokey-in-the-eye phobia..

It just occured to me to ask whether you ever thought of getting prescription sunglasses? I had a pair made to order over a decade ago, and love them. (At the time, I even thought about Bausch & Lomb prescription sunglasses, as my optician had initially suggested that. However, my left eye was outside of their frame of reference, hence it was left to my optician to do the needful and the need was met, very impressively).

I fully take your later point about the personal choice element which nowadays attends upon glasses, as well as contact lenses, thus altering the nature of the experience.

Friends, and medical types, have mentioned both contacts and laser treatment to me, but, in common with many others on this thread, the thought of putting something daily into my eye fills me with distinct unease.
Cheers

I've considered that - but I like the shades I've got right now (I'd have to get new ones if I went the prescription route). That, and I ran out of eye insurance last spring, so anything I get would out of pocket. I need to make more money...

It's not that bad...just keep telling yourself, that you won't actually be touching your eye. ...and with plenty of solution (and clean fingers), you should get that sucker in there just fine. :D (just make sure to not have hot sauce on your hands...or toothpaste...neither one feels good)

Plus one benefit I love about having contacts...is my sunglasses don't have to be prescription (no more clip-ons, or the changing lenses.) yay!

I'm nearsighted (about -2.25 and -2.5 diopter).

I use glasses when I'm in class and most of the time when I'm around town. I put contacts in for sports use and when I know I'm going to be out all day and want to wear my sunglasses and still be able to see details clearly.

I plan on getting Lasik done when i finish grad school.

i wear contact lens during day time and glasses at night... i dont want glasses' print on ma face..

Glasses in the lab where I work (formaldehyde gas + contacts = ouch), contacts in the bar where I work. Otherwise, I go blind.

I went in for the Lasik evaluation once, but when that woman came at me with the plastic scoops to prop your eyes open... I literally ran away. They look like those damn cheek retractors that dentists use. Ish.

I cannot make myself wear the contacts as I am so freaked out on putting something right on my eye balls. I have a few pairs of glasses.

I am always looking for the frame which is fashionable, light weight, and wearable in the business setting (I have to be presentable to the clients as a director of sales).

Had 20/575 vision in worst eye. Other wasn't far behind with bad astigmatism. As I got older the need for bifocals became apparent. Glasses at that correction looked horrid so I went and found I was a candidate for Lasik and followed through with it. That was four years ago and while I still need 1.5 reading glasses, my eyes have remained at 20/20. A true miracle of modern medicine. Never could do well w. contacts.

I have both. There are times I just don't want to bother with putting them in or left them in to long and need to give my eyes a rest.

both

contacts: when working out, when i need sunglasses for driving or being outside

glasses: times i don't feel like wearing contacts

I like to run--silly habit--but I've been doing it since 1980. One day in the early 80s while running in DC--in the rain--the thought occurred to me how nice it would be to actually see where I was going in the rain. Contacts proved the perfect solution and I've been wearing them ever since--but <sigh> now I have to have the bifocals.

i prefer glasses because it's easy to wear unlike in contacts..it takes 1-2 min. for you to wear that..
