Both my rMBP and slim iMac says 15A282a.

Sadly not retina (I wish!) only difference is 2012/13 - must be a hardware/driver difference

EDIT: Just seen your edit, but that wouldn't make sense as your iMac isn't retina either.

I had to install the redemption code from the Public Beta to get the GM to show up in App Store

So is this still considered a Beta file? Or is it now the completely separate GM that may update once or twice before 9/30 and public release? I liked a lot of the features when I had the PB running on my older iMac...I'm just not sure if I want anything besides official OS files on my new macbook.

Is there any way to tell what you're going to get from the installer? It might be worth downloading it again and seeing what happens.
