I have been using my 15pm naked for the past month. It is nice, but the latercase does not actually add much so going to put that on my 16pm as well.

Been naked for the last year and makes the phone more enjoyable tbh. Only dropped it on carpet so far.

I adopted this mindset of being extremely aware of how I'm taking it out of my pocket and storing it rather than just be "whatever" with a case on. I've actually dropped it less than when I had a case lol

I go semi-naked. I have a magnetic wallet on the back. Makes for a nice grip and helps cushion the fall. That being said, my 15PM has eaten through screen protectors like candy. Always cracks at the top near the earpiece. Even a sapphire screen protector cracked. I’ve been semi-ceaseless for four years and this is the first time I’ve had this problem.

I haven't used a case since 2018 (on the iPhone upgrade program) and have only had to send it in for a cracked screen once during that time ($30 repair at the time, not sure what it is now.) Worth it for me!

I’m never going without a case or screen protector, ever. It just takes one small accident, no matter how careful we think we are to screw things up. 👍 “ resell value.”

How about getting just a bumper case? Not fully naked, the back and front are totally exposed, but the lip prevents the screen from hitting a flat surface if dropped, and of course, the bumpers protect the corners and edges of the phone. As a bonus, it’s easier to take out of your pocket by just pinching 🤏 the bumper instead of grabbing the whole phone. The only downside is that the bumpers make the phone slightly wider to hold

I have been using iPhones naked since the first one was released and never broke a screen. Until my 14 pro because I got into bike riding again and I thought a case might be a good idea, you know, “just in case”.

Even in a case and then a padded bag, one good spill was enough to break the screen. Nothing was going to stop that so yeah, naked again it is for me forward.

I’ve since switched back to a stationary bike. ;)

I go naked when it’s just in my jeans pocket on a regular day. I slap on a case when it’s in looser short pockets or I’m going hiking or to the beach or whatever. I have never used a screen protector in my life and despise the way they look. Why would you spend so much money on this beautiful screen and then cover it with plastic? Hideous.

Never used a case or screen protector on my phones. I've been on IUP since the beginning in 2015 (iPhone 6s?), IUP comes with AC+, upgraded every year since, but I've never used AC+ (maybe once?? I really can't remember). I switched from TMO to Visible+ earlier this year so I can't do IUP anymore, will be buying out right without AC+ this time. 🤞

My 15 Pro is in great shape. Naked all year since 99% of cases I tried were pretty bad. Small scratches in the screen, but nothing a good screen protector can't mask. No nicks or noticeable marks on the frame.

I would never use a plastic screen protector either. I use the tempered glass screen protectors. They are barely noticeable.

I could most likely get away without using one with how I treat my phones but they are really easy to put on and remove and it’s very cheap insurance basically so I won’t get any scratches on the screen.

I want to go naked but I know I'll regret the decision.

Has anyone had problems trading in a phone because it was too dinged up?

You didn't know there are many screen protectors made from tempered glass rather than plastic? I don't blame you then, I wouldn't put a plastic screen protector on my phone either.

I personally feel newer iPhones don't feel great without a case. Like they just feel too slippery to touch and not grippy at all, so even though I'd gladly use them naked, they just don't feel nice to hold in my opinion.

I just “spoke” to Apple today about whether they recommend the use of a case. I thought it would be itneresting to see their reply:

You:
Does Apple recommend an iPhone case?
Apple:
Hi there! Hope you are safe and doing well. I would be more than happy to assist...

Apple: ...you today.
You:
I just purchased an iphone 16 PM
Apple:
Sure, allow me a minute.
You:
I was on a few discussion threads and many folks indicated that a case is not needed. I am reaching out to Apple- Does Apple recommend an iPhone case?
You:
(Purchased through T Mobile)
You:
Same question for screen- is a protector recommended?
Apple:
Yes, we do have cases available. Let me send you the link for that so that you can have a look for your reference.
You:
(In other words, is it risky to use your phone without a case
You:
(I do not want to look at your cases I want advice as to whether they are necessary to protect the phone)
Apple:
Yes, it might be risky as it might get scratches on the screen or at the back also.
Apple:
Yes, they are necessary to protect the iPhone from scratches or falling off.
You:
Is it best to get a case that covers the capacitor button as well? Many don’t have that option yet.
You:
I know your silicone cases have the cover as does at least one Otterbox (Lumens)
Apple:
No, it's not necessary to cover the capacitor button as well.

I like the idea of going caseless, but there are a few issues that have made me use cases in the past (dropping ain't one of them)

  • The phones are just plain slippery... I find it easier to hold and manipulate the 15 Pro Max with a case on it. It is also more prone to slipping off surfaces I may place the phone on or even things like airplane tray tables.
  • The camera bump makes the phone super wobbly when put on a table. Cases can mitigate this.
  • My magsafe car mounts don't provide a ton of friction and don't have the stabilizing magnet... so my phone "rotates" on the mount when I go caseless. I know I can find better mounts, but not all work well with my BulletPoint setup I have in my wrangler.
  • My Spigen clear case has a built in kickstand which I find SUPER convenient.

I‘ve gone caseless with my 14PM the past year or so. Other than minor dings, no issues. I occasionally use a MagSafe wallet with my phone without a case as well. I used to use leather cases with my phones, but I have found that leather cases (both Apple and third party) have gone downhill since the 11 line

I’m now careless. I started trying it out with my 13 mini because it’s a cheap spare phone and I love doing it. My 15pro is much better use wise without it since I like the smaller phones. I pay for AppleCare+ for a reason.

By the time you pay for AppleCare+, $65 for a case, and some of you getting screen protectors you’re already well on your way towards another phone. After two months my 15pro still looks new. Won’t be going back. Makes me want to put down the 15pro and use my 13mini even more though. Plus caseless lets the phone cool better

I’ve never had the desire to use mine without a case as I tend to drop it more regularly than I care to admit and I prefer the grip a case gives. I also prefer that a case hides a lot of the aesthetics of the phone and it’s less appealing to being snatched. They are mass produced products though so I still don’t really get the whole ‘enjoying the look’ thing. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
Come down to London, bruv.

The little s***s would snatch a Motorola Flip if they saw one.

The only reason I use Apple's clear case is because it offers good protection, and you can still see the lovely aesthetics of the device.

I have AC+, which has saved me when my phone was stolen a few months ago as I was given a replacement within 2 days.
Nevertheless, enjoy your phone. Why baby it for a year or two, only to sell it to someone else or trade it in and let someone else enjoy it like you should have? Use it as an dhow you want - enjoy what you've paid for!

I try and visit London as little as possible these days lol. Its happening in other cities now too though. A couple of razor blades protruding from the case woud be a good idea when I visit and a wrist tether. I saw a guy on reddit who had modified a case like that, ouch.

I like a sleak black case where just the camera module is visible personally. Never been a fan of clear cases due to the dust that gets inside which can be seen, plus some of them yellow after a while.

I upgrade annually, and never use a case nor a screen protector.

I have had every iPhone since the 3G, and have dropped it badly enough for a crack once. I got the screen repaired and went back to using the phone naked.

I’m the type of person who always keeps the phone in specific places, is conscious of my grip, etc. I don’t baby it, I’m just aware of it.

OTOH, I have a friend who drops their phone probably weekly. Even an Otterbox isn’t enough to prevent serious damage. They plop the phone down randomly, and are surprised when it falls out of their lap when getting out of the car. Like that.

You have to figure out what type of phone user/owner you are. Be realistic, and don’t think you’re going to change that much, because why bother?

^^^^ totally agree with this. i carry a z fold 6 and 15 pm ( soon to be 16pm) and i dont use a case on either one. i also am conscious of my grip. i have a little pouch i carry both phones, credit cards in and take them out when i need them. getting a new case every year ( i swap phones yearly like many of yall) is a waste of MY money, and subscribing to apples insurance is a waste of MY money.

Used my 14 Pro naked for half it's life and didn't have too many issues. Used my 15 Pro the entire year with no issues. Intend to use my 16 Pro the whole year sans case.

Got full trade-in value every time. No issues.
