I go back and forth. Sometimes I like nekkid with just a screen protector so I can put it face down. Sometimes I like to accessorize and have a case to match my week. Never had an issue. Not prone to dropping either. I've dropped more in a case than I have ever nekkid.

All the pro naked arguments revolve around "I'm very careful, never drop my phone".

I sang the same song until it took a header from the girl friend.
And the popular the dog ate my homework, actually snagged the charger cable.
So what can I do when the significant other has an accident, get a divorce ?

So no longer self insured. Same reason I have no-fault car insurance.

I go naked, no AppleCare, and trade in every year. I have never cracked a screen, but broken the back glass twice. Both times when that has happened, I got a case, and didn't upgrade that year. I'm generally very careful with my phones, and thus don't find AppleCare to be worth it. If I ever cracked a screen, I would pay to replace it, but a case isn't going to protect the screen anyway, just the back.

I've gone case free for a long time now. The cost of cases has gone insane AND you have the annoyance of needing a new one every time you upgrade. I cracked the back glass on my iPhone 15 Pro, but that still didn't and won't make me get a case!

For me, I have Cell Phone insurance through my CC so my back glass repair was $50. I skip Apple Care+ now too as it makes no real sense. I haven't damaged my phone more than 2x in a year ever (my CC limits me to 2 claims per year). IF I managed to do so though I could always buy Apple Care+ after the last covered repair...

So, yeah I'm staying case free and Apple Care+ free too. I'm out ahead with a phone that's lighter and nicer to hold. :)

Caseless last year with the 15 Pro and just sold it for $750. Will be going careless with my 16 Pro as well. Pro tip: when driving don't put phone on your lap, put it between your legs.

I just “spoke” to Apple today about whether they recommend the use of a case. I thought it would be itneresting to see their reply:

You:
Does Apple recommend an iPhone case?
Apple:
Hi there! Hope you are safe and doing well. I would be more than happy to assist...

Apple: ...you today.
You:
I just purchased an iphone 16 PM
Apple:
Sure, allow me a minute.
You:
I was on a few discussion threads and many folks indicated that a case is not needed. I am reaching out to Apple- Does Apple recommend an iPhone case?
You:
(Purchased through T Mobile)
You:
Same question for screen- is a protector recommended?
Apple:
Yes, we do have cases available. Let me send you the link for that so that you can have a look for your reference.
You:
(In other words, is it risky to use your phone without a case
You:
(I do not want to look at your cases I want advice as to whether they are necessary to protect the phone)
Apple:
Yes, it might be risky as it might get scratches on the screen or at the back also.
Apple:
Yes, they are necessary to protect the iPhone from scratches or falling off.
You:
Is it best to get a case that covers the capacitor button as well? Many don’t have that option yet.
You:
I know your silicone cases have the cover as does at least one Otterbox (Lumens)
Apple:
No, it's not necessary to cover the capacitor button as well.

I love how they followed your misspelling of the capacitive touch button.
