iPhone 8/Plus Goodbye Android....

Been using Android for a long time, but I finally got sick of it. I had the Galaxy Note 5 and was very happy with it. Lately though there was constant bugs and issues having to always factory reset or clear the cache. Ugh...enough.

So yesterday I traded in my beloved Note for the iPhone 8+. Gorgeous phone, very powerful, fast, better all around everything. Plus it will integrate better with my iPad Pro.

Your note 5 released in August 2015. Of course it was starting to experience issues. I also have an 8 plus that I love, but to be honest you probably would have been just as happy with a galaxy s9+ or a note 8, assuming you are a Samsung guy. Android phones have come a long way ever since the galaxy s7 and oneplus 3 a few years back. Enjoy the 8+.

The 8+ is an excellent choice. I’m assuming the “constant bugs and issues” are what pushed you over to an iPhone, but did you consider any other newer Android phones before making the purchase?

Also, what case is that?

I have a buddy whose been an iPhone user for s while now and he's always trying to get me to switch. I asked him if he ever had any issues (like I was having with my Android) and he said no. So reason number one was the integrity of the device. Also, I just got the iPad Pro so I knew having an iPhone they would integrate well with each other. I'm taking a lot more photos and videos now and it made sense to get the iPhone because it not only has a much better camera but I can also work with photos and such directly on the iPad (using apps like Affinity and Photoshop).

I did not consider any other Android phone. I was looking at the Pixel2 and a couple others, but these would be android phones and I'd be having the same type of android issues again. The iphone hardly has any issues compared to them and I wanted a device that was more stable and secure.

The case is a UAG (urban Armor Gear). I had one on my Note 5 and dropped it several times on cement (one time the stylus even flew out of it), but it was never damaged in any way.

The battery so far on the iPhone 8+ has surpassed any other phone I've owned. I know it's new and cell batteries deteriorate with age, but I'm assuming this will last a while before it does that. I also watched some YT videos on battery tips for this phone and that will help as well. Lot more settings on this iPhone.

A lot of people are having battery issues on iOS 11.4 (myself included), so similar issues there.

Thanks for the links. I am always interested in new cases. Currently using the Apple silicon case but I usually have dry hands and it bothers my hands a lot due to that.

I wouldn’t call my issues with battery life with Android as a bug. I’ve always had an issue with it be it on the Note 4 or note 8. With 5 hours of usage my iPhone X is around 30- 50% depending on type of usage. The note 8 it would be around 10-15% after 4 hours

I find hardware amongst competitors has improved greatly over the years, overall it’s really based on the software experience. iOS has longer support over Android, excellent security and Apples customer service makes the experience. Also, I like that Apple has more stores widely available for the customer, where Samsung’s are more sparse.

I could never get consistent battery life on android. It was mitigated by being able to use spare batteries but that’s not an option anymore. Find battery life on the iPhone to be much more consistent.

I have the Galaxy A5 (2017), and it lags like a cheap phone. Worse, Oreo update is causing system UI force closing. Software is simply not Samsung's forte.

As others have said Samsung have come a long way since the S7, the S9 for example is a beast.

The S9 was just released, this year. The OP's point is that he/she got tired of his/her barely 3-years-old flagship had to be factory reset frequently due to issues.
We can only make a comparison with the S9 3 years from now. As of this point, Samsung is still the same, their handsets don't age well.

My 6s is a month newer and it’s still excellent.

While the SE may not be considered a flagship device it has a flagship processor. The Samsung Galaxy A5 on the other hand does not. It’s mid-tier. That said, just because something is flagship or not, the software should still be optimized for the hardware.

Therein lies the problem. Samsung have too many phones to optimise the software for each one. Also remember that Samsung don’t make android.

I had iPhones before and no issues with them. Currently I have a Note 8 and I like the device no issue with it either.
However I do miss think I prefer Mac over my Windows laptop...
My iPad has started to get slow but it is over 5 years old.
I also am a fan of the Apple Watch over their Android counterparts... I have been debating whether to switch back to Apple or not... There are some things I do miss about the software and some things I hate.
