Samsung fanboys say that every year doesn’t make it true.
Samsung fanboys always back them, you’re right. The difference is that even the stock android fans out there are realizing Samsung have turned a corner. A galaxy s4, s5 and s6? Pretty horrible experience with a phone that over heated and lagged like mad. Once the s7 came out, they improved. The s8 was even better. Then came the note 8 and the s9 that are 2 of the next phones on the market. The budget Samsung phones are garbage, but they’re $200 or something like that. It’s cool for people to hate on Samsung and apple, but there’s a reason they are the top 2 brands. The s9+ is a killer phone. The days of touchwiz lag ruining the experience are over.

I agree with Tonybarnaby. I think Samsung‘s hardware is very good, as as Apples. Their software is very much different from iOS, and offers a different experience. From where Android was approximately 5/6 years ago, it wasn’t the greatest experience. But where it is today, it’s massively improved. But in terms of iOS versus android, it’s all preference of what somebody has invested into their ecosystem and what they like about the two different operating platforms. I find those who are true to iOS want a simplistic, straightforward experience with security and stabilization. Android offers a lot more customization and freedom to utilize their preferences much differently than iOS. Both are ‘good’ operating platforms, it’s just really want a matter of someone prefers, but iOS has always been my preference.

Belive what you want, but the S9 is completely lag free while still having all the features Samsung are known for. Yes I'm a fan of Samsungs hardware, but now I'm a fan of the software aswell. Also from all reports the note 8 is aging very well, Samsung most certainly have turned a corner in the smartphone game.

I always had an android as a backup/second phone alongside my iPhone until last year when I bought the 8 then the X. I got fed up with android - it needed constant babying to resolve issues with apps/updates, the hardware etc. I even had the Nexus 9 (the worst tablet I've ever owned). So I went all Apple.

Today I feel fine that all my devices are the same system, I like the stability, the security and straightforwardness - I also love my MacBook and will never go back to Android. I think you made the right decision.

I said the same thing about my S7 Edge, then it became a completely lag fest. I won't say that about my S9+ because I doubt it will stay as good as it is new.

The S7 was never lagfree, even fresh out of the box. The S8 is the first Samsung phone that has been lagfree out of the box for me. The S9 takes it a step further, not only is it lagfree but it is fluid and gives a stock Android experience performance wise.

Been using Android for a long time, but I finally got sick of it. I had the Galaxy Note 5 and was very happy with it. Lately though there was constant bugs and issues having to always factory reset or clear the cache. Ugh...enough.

So yesterday I traded in my beloved Note for the iPhone 8+. Gorgeous phone, very powerful, fast, better all around everything. Plus it will integrate better with my iPad Pro.

A note 5 seriously? You're clueless lmao. Try a S9 or a oneplus 6 and you'll see what Android is really about. Sent from my iPhone X

The Galaxy A5 is a cheap phone...
The A5 is not a cheap phone. The Galaxy A line is Samsung’s mid range, having the similar design language as the S line. The “cheap” line for Samsung is the J series.

Doesn’t change the point of software issues. There’s no reason for the software to be buggy, regardless of the price point of the phone.

The Note 8 is not even a year old yet, so you cannot say it is “aging” very well. Seriously.

The whole point of the OP is that his/her Samsung flagship suffers major issues just barely 3 years old. You cannot come in and say the latest phone is aging better. You can only say that about the S9/Note 8 3 years from now. And I doubt things will change because Samsung wants you to buy the S12 by that time.

Im sorry but if the Note 8 is running well after 6 months it going to continue to run well. Samsung phones of old would start running like **** not long after release, i should know I've owned enough of them. My S8 still runs great (Better then new since the Oreo update) and its well over a Year old. Im sorry to tell you but the days of Lagwiz are well and truly over.

Well, just keep that in mind and see if you can keep that word 2 years from now.

Wow this is certainly turned into a whole different thread, lol. I did consider the note 8 but I was sick of Samsung always making those curved displays. Not everyone wants a curve display. Also I didn’t want to pay over $1000 for a phone. And the note 8 to me personally just seemed like a glorified s8 with a stylus.

After owning the iPad Pro for a while I was won over by the speed, power and efficiency of the Apple system. They also have some pretty nifty features that you can’t find on the android system.

Anyway it was my experience with the iPad Pro that persuaded me to get an iPhone, epecially after the constant issues I’d been having with Android.

I have been an iPhone user since the beginning .. But every few years I will go to android for a few months to see what's changed and if it can lure me away from ios for good. 2 months into my galaxy s9 and...

This kinda crap happens pretty regularly now. Switching back when the next iPhones get announced.

The System UI force closing also happens on my A5 on a regular basis after the Oreo update.

I used to get that on every android phone or tablet I had - it got pretty tiresome.

Just to jump in here I’m a Samsung Note 8 user and although it is a beautiful phone (love the stylus etc) however I was also an iPhone 6S user (software testing). However recently I got the chance to upgrade the 6S to an iPhone X 256Mb for a silly price (UK CeX trade in).

The Note 8 was used with a Galaxy Gear S3 smart watch which I also loved. The S3 however did not meet my fitness tracking needs so I retired that and moved it on to a Fitbit Ionic. The Ionic was less tied to the Android eco system so I could use that with the iPhone.

At this time Samsung have promised 2 years of updates on premium phones which is a disgraceful policy. The Note 8 was £700 and for that money I expect more than 2 years support!

At the same time as this I decided to splurge out and spend my replacements laptop (HP Pavilion) fund on the new cheap 9.7” iPad as I had a very bad new hardware experience with HP (x360 laptop). I loved the iPad that much I traded it in for a 256Gb iPad Pro 12.9” with the Smart Keyboard.

I loved the experience and fluidity of using the iPhone and iPad together so traded in more old tech at CeX to ended up picking up a set of Air Pods, Apple Pencil, 4K TV and lastly a Series 3 Nike+ Apple Watch.

The most recent surprise was the S3 AW as the Fitbit had great health tracking, battery life and worked at reading my heart rate through my tattoos, the Gear S3 had a ‘lot’ of apps but could not read my heart rate..... The S3 AW has a heck of a lot more apps than the S3 (ones that I actually use), reads my heart rate (and detects I’m earring it) 90% of the time and has acceptable fitness tracking.

So as you can see I’m getting dragged more and more into the world of Apple. I can see me revisiting CeX in the near future and trading in the Note 8 and Ionic towards a Mac of some sort.

The other final aspect of the ‘journey to Apple’ is that I’m not always looking for improvements on Android apps as there are issues, not constantly changing launchers to find the best out there etc. So the end result is that I feel a lot less stressed and can just enjoy actually using the technology.

Sure there are things I dislike within the Apple ecosystem but I’m managing to work with them and to be honest I can’t see me moving back to Android at all.

I am curious if you like ios vs the android? My sister is so vocal about how much she hates Apple and ios. She loves android and how that you can customize it "your way" She hates how that with ios your locked into a set way. She said, why do you like Apple so much. I laughed and said IOS LOL

I have a buddy whose been an iPhone user for s while now and he's always trying to get me to switch. I asked him if he ever had any issues (like I was having with my Android) and he said no. So reason number one was the integrity of the device. Also, I just got the iPad Pro so I knew having an iPhone they would integrate well with each other. I'm taking a lot more photos and videos now and it made sense to get the iPhone because it not only has a much better camera but I can also work with photos and such directly on the iPad (using apps like Affinity and Photoshop).

I did not consider any other Android phone. I was looking at the Pixel2 and a couple others, but these would be android phones and I'd be having the same type of android issues again. The iphone hardly has any issues compared to them and I wanted a device that was more stable and secure.

The case is a UAG (urban Armor Gear). I had one on my Note 5 and dropped it several times on cement (one time the stylus even flew out of it), but it was never damaged in any way.

While I’m certain there are good Android phones, nothing beats Apple ecosystem device integration. The fact that you have an iPad Pro makes it a no-brainer for me: iPhone is the way to go.

I’m loving the iOS. I don’t miss Android at all. Yes I like the fact that I can get a launcher change icons and mess around with the look and feel, but what good is that when the system is always hanging up or you got to clear the cache or factory reset blah blah blah.

I’ll trade customization for system stability any day.

Doesn’t change my point though. Is it okay for the software on a phone to be buggy if it’s not a flagship?

Worse, the OP experience issues on a flagship device.

iOS 11 is damn buggy. Worse than any Android. iOS 12 is following that footsteps. So many complaints. Plus planned obsolescence by apple. And affect whether flagships iPhone too.
