Do we know the screen size yet for the Pixel Slate?
I'm hoping it's closer to 10 inches and not 12 inches...

That looks cool. What the hell happened with the phones? Here's what the Pixel Slate finger print reader will be like:

They try pretty much everything. I think they wanted their own hardware to test the limits of what they could do with computational photography and their access to all of our photos on their service. They develop, test and drop countless iterations of existing products and services. I don’t think these products and services are necessarily the endgame for them. That’s why they seem thrown together so half-azzedly.I still don’t understand why Google got into the phone market to begin with. I know that it’s to compete with Apple, but seeing how Microsoft tried the same thing and failed, maybe they should just stick to tablets and tablet PCs... other Android manufacturers are making all the leaps and bounds in the smartphone department.
I respect them for trying, at least; I just feel bad for the employees and smartphone design teams internally. They try pretty much everything. That’s the thing...they never seem to actually be trying that hard. They never even really promoted Allo or Duo. They didn’t really do anything to make those must-have products despite the incredible potential they had.I respect them for trying, at least; I just feel bad for the employees and smartphone design teams internally.
Great points! That’s the thing...they never seem to actually be trying that hard. They never even really promoted Allo or Duo. They didn’t really do anything to make those must-have products despite the incredible potential they had.
I don’t think they’re trying that hard at anything. They’re certainly never trying that smart, as in “work smart, not hard”.
I don’t think products and services for us unwashed masses are their endgame. I believe they have one, but probably only their upper levels of management understand what that is. Most of what we see and buy into is a huge experiment for them. It certainly has that feel to it. I find it interesting and more than a bit alarming that these purveyors of personal data have been caught out attempting to manipulate politics and media. Is that a few employees being punks or is that part of them leveraging small units of power and influence into something bigger?
Oh great now I sound like a conspiracy theorist. Sigh. I don’t know, but something just seems off about so much of what they put out on the market.
They’re either evil Illuminati geniuses or hardworking imaginative people under incredibly scatterbrained disinterested management. Lol, or maybe a mix of both.

I missed it too! Had to take my baby to see the Dr but all is ok.I missed it. Freak accident. Going to check out what I can of the pixel 3 thread.
Forwarded to the Pixel & only a couple of minutes in...Enjoy the show:
Not pink, haha. Honestly I think more of a sand/beige color with the orange/coral power button would have been perfect.Pink looks fine.
Not pink, haha.
I like that the white Pixel 3 looks like one white slab on the back. I like that the two-tone is very subtle. I wish the black version was the same. Pink looks fine.
As for the Slate, I'm interested but will hold out for a better deal down the road or for really strong reviews.
No interest in the Hub.
What happened to updated Pixel Buds?
Google is righting some of the wrongs from last year, including providing USB C earphones in the Pixel 3 box. You can also buy it separately here for $30 bucks. I hope they're good: https://store.google.com/product/usb_c_earbuds?hl=en-US
No Chromecast?
Hub only thing I’m interested in from that
It they really wanted to compete with Apple they would advertise the crap out of these phones but they don't.I still don’t understand why Google got into the phone market to begin with. Just watched Android Central’s preview of the Pixel Slate and while the hardware is quite attractive, the software is quite laggy/janky. Google stated it was a quite early version of the firmware but why on Earth would you preview this device with such an awful software experience?
Just wait until you have it polished and ready to go—I’m not going to get excited about a quite expensive Chrome OS tablet that can’t even perform basic functions without stuttering like crazy.
