M beta was announced at I/O last year for developers. So around end of May. And right, Note still just got it last month.

LOL, I still say the Note 6 launches with Marshmallow, and best case it might see Android N 90 days after the new Nexus phones come out, which would put it around Dec / Jan timeframe, and that's the fastest I see that possibly happening.

But no way is the Note 6 launching with Android N. Nope not happening.

Have to agree. IIRC, just about every major Android update over the past 4 years has coincided with the release of a Nexus device(s). The only way the Note 6 would be released with N is if Google previously formally announced it's release along with any new Nexus device, which isn't going to happen before the Note 6. I also can't see Samsung heading into the final stages of production/release for the Note 6 without N being finalized.

And remember, Summer doesn't end until September 21. ;)

They do. The Nexus 6P uses a Samsung made AMOLED display. And the camera on the 5X / 6P is pretty darn good for 2015 phones, it's not #1 best camera of 2015, but it's in the top 5 for smartphone cameras last year.

6P HDR in low light still is the best out there, even compared to this years flagships. Whatever Google does for their HDR processing, it is slow af in the 6P, but it takes some amazing shots. Hopefully with some improvements in the hardware, and a better SOC, it will be a killer experience in this years nexus. I would love to see it in the HTC 10.

It may be made by Samsng but it's definitely not the same level of quality as the displays on the Galaxy phone. I find it perfectly acceptable but if I put it side by side with my iPhone, I'd still choose the display on the 6s+ over the 6P--like the color temp better and is better in bright sunlight.

Google better have bigger plans for Allo... maybe it's still baking.

I hope so too. It really didn't impress me. It's just another messenger app. If Google really wants to do some damage to iOS then they needed an iMessage competitor. Not just another message app in the sea of message apps.

And does anyone else think the name "Allo" is a play on how Americans hear English people say the word "hello"?

Wow that was a lot of vitriol, given your post history it's no wonder you empathise so much with Apple Insider.

And yes I disagree with most of the article and as a Mac user for over 20 years, screaming lack of innovation at Google is akin to the Pot calling the Kettle black.

But no point arguing with you, it's clear your posting for reaction and have many a chip on your shoulder.

really?? i gotta mention him again? this is exactly what makes someone donald trump

you know why you dont want to consider DED? because you cant argue against him. if you could, it would be easy, just a few sentences answering most of those questions. but you cant, because you dont have anything to say.

why didnt you comment on the graph you so vigorously brought up? you could at least do that. go ahead, you commented that he purposely used outdated, now post the most up to date graph next to his so we see them both next to each other with your name above them. not only did you so condescendingly brought the graph up, its was the only thing you brought up. come on. it doesnt help the fact he puts the link to the samsung q1 earnings while also mentioning, in text and numbers, how current earnings fare to the 2013, with how many more phones sold in 2016? whats the delta?

pick 5 random questions and answer them honestly. go on, its on topic. ive roughly isolated the talking points, ded made his case, now its up to you. show the world what he is. or is it beneath you?

also, i dont feel the apple insider, i read them. i suggest you also read them instead of feeling them and answer the questions

and what does you owning a mac has anything to with ..anything actually. i also own one. wanna know which one? im sure i can prove something by stating i own a mac, not sure what yet, but i've mentioned it

Anyone else using Android Wear 2.0 preview? I loaded it on my Urbane 2 and it seems to be working fine, not sure if I like it better than the current version. But are there any apps yet that can take advantage of not tethering to a phone?

Google I/O in 10 mins:

No one's really talked about the "seamless software update" thing. I think it's a great idea. Another feature that makes the overall Android experience feel even more seamless (like Instant Apps). Plus, it shows how Android N is taking the update process itself another step further than iOS. :cough: I can't believe I still need to be on WiFi to get iOS software updates :cough:

I haven't tried it on my Huawei yet as I just assumed that apps wouldn't yet be taking advantage of the changes.

I have to admit that I'm chomping at the bit to see so much of the new stuff announced at Google I/O. One of the strongest components that keep me firmly immersed in Apple gear is the strength of the ecosystem--Google lacking a strong 'desktop' presence has been a weak link for me but with the announcement regarding Google Play and Android apps on Chrome OS I find quite intriguing. That coupled with Allo/Duo, Google Assistant/Google Home mean a better overall Google ecosystem (software has been very good). If someone (I'd prefer Google) could put out a high quality Chromebooks in the vane of the 12.9 iPad Pro or Surface 4 style design (highly portable and convertible), I could honestly see myself exploring a move away from such a heavy Apple presence with my gear. I'd likely still keep one foot in the Apple pool (at least one Mac ;)) for my occasional heavy lifting computing but I could honestly see myself living in a mostly Android/Chrome/Google world.

I'm in the same boat right now. I could definitely see myself living in an Android/Chrome/Google world. With the influx of Android apps into Chrome OS, they absolutely need a tablet/Chrome PC device. Not just a flip device. And I also really like where Android Wear is headed, and this is the first time I've actually been interested in a smart watch. I'm really looking at jumping ship right now.

This might be a stupid question, but do Chrome OS laptops get viruses like Windows?

What I'm really asking is... do I need to run virus scanners and software like I used to on Windows?

Or is Chrome OS anything like OSX, where I basically have to do nothing to defend against viruses other than the standard no-brainer stuff (like not giving permission to unknown installs, etc.)?

Because until it's exactly like OSX when it comes to viruses, I don't think I would dare move from OSX.

I'm fairly certain that they're even more secure than OSX.

Really? That was not the answer I was expecting! I know very little about Chrome OS. Okay, if that's really the case, then I might agree with some of you guys here... perhaps Chrome OS could be an option in my future.

Very interesting.

Yeah, shocking, huh? From what I've heard, there isn't a virus on them yet. Very secure and safe. They're awesome for just casual browsing and light document work now. Throw in Android apps and they become a very viable solution for a lot of people.

Supposedly each tab on chrome is sandboxed but with the implementation of Android apps on chrome os I'm thinking it could potentially open the door (only reason I say this is because apps would live on the internal memory and not the cloud) but I'm no expert, so who knows.

Chromebooks only sell in the US right? Or are they available in Europe also? Haven't seen them anywhere.
