“Pill lovers”??? Why do you sound so antagonistic?Thank you! Pill lovers don't have much to say about that wasted gap of pixels between the bezel and the top of the pill. At least the notch feels somewhat uniform.
I believe they mean the tap it gives on your wrist telling you where and which direction to turn.Should you really be looking at your wrist while in a roundabout?![]()
It literally happened to me this past Sunday. This is the road I was referring to if you want to try on your end "Rockhill Dr, Bensalem, PA 19020". Siri Voice is set to American 4. iOS 17 beta 7 21A5319a.Can someone prove this has actually happened in the past 5 years?? It doesn't even happen when you pick a "non-USA" Siri voice since Siri went to 100% AI driven at least that long ago (and was the only reason it ever happened)

I tried it again on my end and Siri still isn't saying "Drive" correctly for me. 🤷♂️Just tried it and “Getting directions to Rockhill Drive”…
Trying other voices to see as well.
Edit…American Voice 4 works for me…
American voice 1, 2 & 3, “Starting route to Rockhill Drive…”

It was saying "Derv" instead of "Drive". So more like it was trying to sound out "Dr" instead of recognizing it as shorthand for "Drive". If I knew they would have fixed it that fast I would have recorded it lolWhat is it saying instead??
I rebooted my iPhone and the error came back. You can hear it via this linkWhat is it saying instead??

If you want to try to recreate it, set Siri back to American 4, turn off Siri, reboot iPhone, and then try Rockhill Dr in maps again and let me know what happens.
Normal power shutdown then normal power back on. The only other variable I haven't mentioned is that I do have this area as a downloaded offline map BUT I don't think that is playing a role since I'm not currently offline. IDK. I'm going to update to today's Beta 8 and see what happens.Hmmmm…still works fine for me. When you reboot, are you doing a hard restart or just a normal shutdown?

EDIT: I've updated to iOS 17 Beta 8 and still hearing "Derv". Updated the offline map for this area and it is still present in both online and offline map modes. I even tried to toggle Siri on to see if it would correct itself like before and that didn't happen this time around. So now I'm really confused as to why it briefly correctly itself before my previous reboot. It's not a big deal. But just weird how different our experiences are.
Haha sorry I didn't mean to sound so pissy! Just didn't know how to describe people that like DI!“Pill lovers”??? Why do you sound so antagonistic?
Regardless, that literally doesn’t bother me.
"People"Haha sorry I didn't mean to sound so pissy! Just didn't know how to describe people that like DI!
Killing Stadia, apparently.Dynamic Island has been out for almost over a year. What's Google been doing all this time?
Why bother when Apple kept it off the non-Pro iPhone 14? Limited market = limited ROI.Dynamic Island has been out for almost over a year. What's Google been doing all this time?
Oh yeah, iPhones and iOS are so unbelievably restricted and behind in so many ways that it blows my mind. It also blows my mind that iPhone users simply aren't aware of it.Guys you’ll never believe what happened. I was in a car next to someone with an Android phone. Wait! There’s more to the story. I was navigating on his phone using Google maps. And when I switched apps to change the music: a little Google maps Picture in Picture screen stayed visible as an overlay over Spotify. Now THAT’s a live activity. It was a great experience. Why doesn’t iPhone’s PiP extend to other apps…?
Hopefully, support will improvePeople that are buying this for dynamic island are going to be so disappointed. Very little apps use it. It’s a bummer
Right and I get that. Makes complete sense. But that's a hardware driven feature. I was mainly referring to features introduced in upcoming versions of software. As a developer we prioritise features that appeals to the maximum amount of people. Since Apple decided to add the two punch holes only to the screens of the least selling phones no wonder if developers postpone adding features to the cutouts.
Yet, other people’s experience is that Apple Maps is excellent, now. Hard to know what is causing you to considered it screwed up. It seems that the data is still weak in some areas depending on the data source.I hate Google, but am still forced to use Google Maps sometimes (not signed in, and only via the web site - not the app) because it is so much better in Japan. It's incredible that a company like Apple managed to screw Maps up all those years ago and has still not recovered from it.
This is a crazy good use case and I’m shocked Apple didn’t think of it, especially with how communication focused iOS 17 is.I still want Apple Maps to support the Dynamic Island when someone is sharing their ETA with you.
