I use 1Password and ICloud Keychain and Samsung Pass. Yes that’s confusing. I had no idea what the hell I was doing and just had all of them start remembering my stuff. I used to actually memorize everything or write it down in a notebook. But that was a few years ago, for the memorizing. Once you hit 50, it just isn’t possible, at least not for me.

So how bad is the battery on the little guy? That’s the one I want eventually. I’m getting it just to stay on top of “stock” Android and for the camera.

My 11 Pro is my main phone. It’s really good. My Note 10+ is a really good plus sized phone. I don’t really need to stray too far from that team.

But for reasons that aren’t appropriate to state here, I need to keep options open, even though I’m happy with the Apple hardware at long last. Unless at least a couple of things happen. I’m going to hang on and keep enjoying my 11 Pro while I see if anything changes.

Pixel 4XL @ 90Hz battery life close to Note 10+. iPhone cheated by lowering brightness and wouldn't be surprised it also throttles performance. Curious to see Pixel 4XL battery life @ 60Hz vs 90Hz.

I get that this standardized form of testing devices is used to make the testing uniform, but I can assure you the Pixel 4 XL doesnt come anywhere close to keeping up with the Pro Max in true day to day use. I routinely get 5 hours of SOT with my Pro Max and its usually still around 50% whereas on my Pixel 3 XL that would put it close to dying.

Despite what the battery test videos like this show, all the reviewers are all echoing the same sentiment when it comes to battery life. And that is it is average at best.

I dislike Pixel. It costs too much for what it offers.
Make service like iCloud for Android and PC and then charge me so much!

After watching Blunty's review of the cameras I can say a couple things, both the iPhone 11 and the XL 4 have for the most part very usable cameras.

The XL 4 has the dual exposure slider which giving what I photograph with my phones will be very useful. Also the raw format (which last I used on my XL 2 choked it) would also help for my high contrast scenes I often photograph.

I still haven't completely decided because that's 1100 bucks for one feature I'd like... ?

I will be very happy if it is somewhat comparable or just a little bit worse then the Note 10+. Very happy with the Note 10+ battery life.

That's a long laundry list for me to put together, especially on the fly. But it's just overall how iOS operates differently than stock Android. Not that it sucks for others, seems most people actually prefer iOS, but I have been using stock Android phones since the Nexus-One days, I have become so accustomed on the feel, and way to use the phone, that iOS feels completely alien to me, and very difficult to get used to.

I was at Best Buy this weekend, just window shopping, I saw the iPhone 11 Pro Max, and played with it. First impressions were, WOW, super cool, beautiful display, I like the full screen almost bezel less display, and flipping through pages and opening and closing apps, so fast, so smooth. Just awesome. Very impressed for sure. But then after a couple minutes that coolness started to fade away, and my frustrations with iOS started pooping up, and after a few more minutes, I said F this stupid phone LOL. But I admit the 11 Pro Max is super cool, great smartphone, just not my cup of tea.

-Turn the phone on FaceID sees me, but I still have to swipe up to get to the home screen, With Android, it puts you right into the homescreen, even the fingerprint scanner. That swipe up is a little annoying and just adds more time to get to the home screen

-Using the phone, I swipe down to pull the notification shade down, but this is iOS it's not there like Android, but instead some really stupid search menu thing pops up WTF? So swiping down anywhere on the homescreen, I get some very odd and strange search thing, what the heck is this, and why is it even there? I would never use that in a million years.

-Moving app icons anywhere on the homescreen. Holy cow, for the love of God, it is 2019, and you cannot move you favorite app icons to the bottom, just above the dock for easier use? That's unbelievable.

-Default apps. I want to set which apps I want as default, not what Apple forces me to keep default.

-Phone app. Has Apple ever actually used their own phone app in the last ten years? LOL. It feels stuck in like the year 2008. No T9 dialer yet? Really? And if your in an app, like typing a message, or surfing the web, and an incoming phone call comes in, the phone hijacks the entire screen, kicking you out of what you were in. Come on Apple, really? It should come in as a Heads Up / Banner, with options to Accept or Decline.

-Widgets, I would like the option to maybe set some widgets on my homescreen, not just have them all on the left screen only.

If I had more time, I could go on and on, with how frutrating I find iOS to be in certain ways. Like it sometimes feels as if Apple compeltely forgoet about certain apps for years, and elft them untouched for a decade. But it has gotten better, seems every few years they make strides to improve it, like every 3 to 4 years there's much needed improvements. I'm thinking I'll like the iPhone 14.
It’s hard to put it into words but I know what you’re saying with regards to iOS being boring. It works well, it’s ridiculously smooth, it’s really fast, but it’s just too simple. For the majority of people, I completely see the appeal. For people that like to tinker and customize, it’s just boring. I keep using that word but it’s the best description of iOS. It does what you want it to do, but nothing really special or cool. It just works.

That said, I currently can’t justify leaving the pro max for anything else. I think along with the Note 10 plus it’s the best phone available.

He does great camera comparisons. After reading some reviews and look at some comparison videos ( of the Pixel 4), I’m shocked that Apple finally did it with their cameras. At the moment they have the best overall camera and with the good battery life of the Pro Max it’s the best overall smartphone right now.

Amazing how Pixel and iPhone have lapped Samsung at this point

Also, if you buy a Pixel, this is important

Agree to continue: Pixel 4
Every smart device now requires you to agree to a series of terms and conditions before you can use it — contracts that no one actually reads. It’s impossible for us to read and analyze every single one of these agreements. But we started counting exactly how many times you have to hit “agree” to use devices when we review them since these are agreements most people don’t read and definitely can’t negotiate.

To use the Pixel 4, you must agree to:

Google Terms of Service
Google Play Terms of Service
Google Privacy Policy (included in ToS)
Install apps and updates: “You agree this device may also automatically download and install updates and apps from Google, your carrier, and your device’s manufacturer, possibly using cellular data.”
Google Device Arbitration Agreement: “All disputes regarding your Google device will be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual, non-class basis [...] unless you opt out by following the instructions in that agreement.”
The following agreements are optional:

Use location: “Google may collect location data periodically and use this data in any anonymous way to improve location accuracy and location-based services.”
Allow scanning: “Allow apps and services to scan for Wi-Fi networks and nearby devices at any time, even when Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is off.”
Send usage and diagnostic data
Additionally, if you want to use the Google Assistant, you must agree to let Google collect:

App info from your devices
Contact info from your devices: ”This data may be saved and used in any Google service where you are signed in to give you more personalized experiences. You can see your data, delete it and change your settings at account.google.com”
Other features like Google Pay may require additional agreements.

Final tally: five mandatory agreements and at least five optional agreements.

∆∆ yup I've seen that South Park episode

Ugh, why couldn't we get this mashup:
Samsung Galaxy note 10+ body and battery and RAM, pixel XL 4 flat screen, OnePlus 7 (pro) operating system and refresh rate, iPhone 11 pro camera set up being run by gcam.

I think *that* I would plunk down 1100 bucks for, no sweat!

So the Swipe down for search? Actually one of my favorite features. It’s basically like a google search that can also search your phone. It’s an all in one search engine. Seems odd at first but I probably use it 5-10 times per day.

I'm almost tempted to cancel my pre-order and God forbid actually maybe pick up an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Edit:. too late, just checked my shipping date, which originally stated next week, now shows delivery on its way tomorrow.

Same here. I love it to pull up apps quickly.
Spotlight on iOS is very underrated imo. It can quickly find so many different things on your phone. I don't think Android has anything like it natively, and I am not sure how I would feel about a third party android app being able to search all my information.

I’ll second these sentiments. I use the search function all the time... use it to quick launch apps, search for contacts, Notes, Calendar appointments, email content, etc, all from a single spot.

Save yourself the hassle TB—iOS hasn’t changed in enough ways to squelch what you find aggravating about it. It’s like me and Android. There are some aspects I like better on Android but after the shine of new hardware subsides, I always become aggravated with limitations to my preferred workflow.
