It is but it’s their way of making things as simple as possible. Google knows if people want changes they can download a launcher
I would like to be able to delete the Google search bar at the bottom, I think that should be an option. I do like the lack of bloatware tho, but then it's really not that difficult to remove the apps from the Samsung phone, or even the iPhone with apps like pages and so on.

I've heard they will allow it to be removed in a future software update ..

Btw ..anyone in the US get the monthly update ? Think today's the day for us

Doesn’t it say in your signature that you use an Android? Samsung Galaxy I believe.
I own 2 galaxy yes. I don’t use them as daily drivers. This is an apple only household this way 😂

I jokingly told my bf he had to get an iPhone or hope I remember details because he isn’t in the friend group chat 😂

Yeah, they use it... but then states they hate using it.

Which begs the questions, why do they use it? lol
I hate using it longer than an hour. I only got the ultra when my iPhone was broken and I didn’t want to buy the same iPhone.

Hated it and immediately went back to my iPhone 11 and I brought the 15 pm. I won my z flip.

Even if you won the Flip, you don't necessarily have to keep it.

I'm just confused by the whole logic of... I hate using it, but I still keep it. Because in most cases if not all, anyone that do not like using a device... simply get rid of it.

I usually only lurk on this thread, but once I saw this I had to chime in. You got the Ultra, hated it, then you were okay going back to an iPhone 11? I'm sorry, but this has gotta be satire.

I use emulators occasionally. It’s really the only reason I have it.

It would be an amazing phone if it didn’t run android but I also find foldables gimmicky so eh

I hate using android regularly and i decided to go back to my iPhone 11 until the 15 pm released. What’s difficult for you to understand lmao.

I gave the ultra a try. Hated it. Since I’m heavy in apple I went back to my old iPhone.

If I had to choose, I’d use my old lumia windows phone as a daily driver over an android 😂 I now use my galaxy for emulators.

I used to use it as a second line but I now just use my iPhone plus a secondary app.

You own 2 but you hate them? Where’s the logic.

I’ve tried the Galaxy phones before (the Ultra variants) they aren’t bad phones, in fact they are quite good. I’ve usually only sent them back because I’m in the Apple ecosystem. I like to try things before forming an opinion properly.

Samsung Galaxy S23 and S24 Ultra, are great phones that can do a lot and have great battery life. I’d recommend them to anyone who wasn’t interested in IOS and the iPhone.

They are alright minus the software. Cameras are ehhh but I do enjoy the screens.

I'm an Apple fan as well, probably not as much as you, but come on, do you not read your own posts and think to yourself that you're a little too harsh and over what? An operating system 😅 Like I said, I use a lot of Apple products, but I'd be lying to you if I haven't flirted with the thought of purchasing a Pixel 8, or the s24 Ultra.

I mean I wouldn’t suggest it but 🤷🏾‍♀️

You’re right. It’s an operating system. Not a person. I don’t think I’m harsh at all. I see its appeal. I just find it inferior and it’s troubling that the future could be android dominated and I hate a lot of changes that are happening to iOS that feel android like (imo). I don’t mind change itself. I mind change that changes the ethos of iOS and why I brought into Apple.

If I wanted a hot mess of an ecosystem I’d be using android full time.

Very early days but here are a few more of my thoughts on the Pixel 8 Pro:

Battery life hasn't been getting me through the day so far (that may change when it settles in)

There is a lot of processing with the camera which I find to be a bit of a pain, hit the button to take a picture and you have to wait upwards of 10 seconds before the picture is ready, as we little notice comes up at the bottom left saying "processing" I find that to be very annoying, especially if wanting to take another picture quickly.

Not being able to remove the Google search bar from the bottom of the screen is not good, I never use it.

The UI is very fluid and fast, except for in some apps which seems to lag by a second or two, not all the while but it does happen.

Those my thoughts, but as I said it's early days (Day 3) things could change. The big one for me is battery life, that MUST change or it will go back. I have to be able to get through a working day with battery life.

I only owned the phone for a handful of months so I can't try it again. Have you disabled battery optimization? I thought there was someone or were some people who reported better battery life after trying it.

Yeah, give it a couple weeks to settle in and then make an informed decision.

Only a few months? And yea I’ve disabled that. I’ve also turned off the always on display, tweaked a few things like keeping the display at the lower resolution and also turning off the listening for what music is playing feature.

It is annoying tho because it feels like I’m turning off features that I’ve paid for. I will report more fully on the battery when I’ve used it for a week or so, I have until the 24th to return so I will test until a few days before then and make my mind up.
