Thank you.
I like Pixels but I have had numerous issues with hardware since the 3xl.
Sometimes I feel like a glutton for punishment. I had a Google Chrome tablet that a year later they discontinued. Multiple hardware issues with Multiple Pixel phones.
The odd thing is when they were Nexus the hardware was clearly not top tier but the hardware was solid??
In any event I am skipping the Pixel 9 series altogether. I am keeping the Pixel 8Pro for now as I need a back up phone. The screen is now working? It was doing this,

Now it is fine but it was doing what the pictures show for over a day? After the update and a couple reboots it seemed to resolve itself? If hardware that wouldn't be possible right? It would still happen intermittently but nothing even once since?
So for now I am avoiding repairs as I never seem to get a phone back after repair in same condition I sent. So I only do it if no other choice.
On the other hand I have had very inexpensive phones, mid range, and high end and I have rarely had hardware issues on any of them but with Google over the years I have had 4 Pixels since they released them and out of those only the Pixel 7 Pro didn't have any issues beyond a crappy modem and always overheating SOC. So a 75% failure rate or close.
With that track record it really has made me weary of buying a new Pixel and on top of that they keep raising the prices commensurate with Apple and Samsung.
So I will see how many years I can get out of the P8P which compared to the 9 I don't see any huge differences. I know there are some but mostly iterative and I am waiting for the Tensor to perform better and get a lot closer to the competition in both efficiency and performance and thermal management.
I know Google says the focus isn't benchmarks but when you use two phones side by side and you can tell a difference in performance and smoothness of the UI. So I don't care about benchmarks but I do care about speed.
In any event I am looking forward to reading people's experiences with the P9 series and I really hope it is a much better phone in hardware and performance.
