Quick question... I'm looking to get the P8P but was wondering if the face unlock works on UK banking apps. I'm 99% sure it does but wanted to check.

I hope the Pixel 9 series will get an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The optical one is not great and face unlock only works in bright light.

Doesn’t work for Lloyds. I’m forced to used fingerprint. Shame really as it seems to work ok for everything else such 1Password etc.
Oh, that's surprising. I thought it being class 3 means it would just work as secure biometric unlock for everything. I guess it goes deeper than just satisfying class 3.

Both my Pixel 8 Pro and Wife's Pixel 8 have yet to receive the June update, and its been almost one week. We're both on unlocked Google bought phones, running on T-Mobile.

No updates yet for the unlocked T-Mobile versions of my P8P and Fold
Just to say, my S24U and Galaxy Fold 5 have the updates. Interesting...

Why is it that Apple can push out an update to all of their iPhones, no matter what carrier, or which version of iPhone, and they get it immediately on all carriers but Google can't do that for theirs Pixel's!?

Why is the check for update button not pulling the update immediately like Google said it would?

Good question. The slow rollouts and the AB testing is annoying.

Kind of inexcusable since Samsung which has many more devices can seemingly push out updates to their phones faster than Google just doesn't make any kind of sense??

Feature drops maybe I could understand but security updates delayed makes no sense and nullifies one of the main points of buying a Pixel which is fast updates.

I have been using my S24U for several months so I updated and set up My P8P and tried it. I didn't even last a half a day and went back to the s24u. I like Pixel UI better overall but OneUI is just not bad enough like it used to be to push me to use the Pixel's inferior hardware. The s24u is just so much faster in everything and the screen is just so much better. Getting slow updates on the Pixel vs the S24U is the cherry on top!

In a few months I am probably going to sell my P8P and Pixel watch. I just don't use them anymore. I may just sell the watch and keep the Pixel for curiosity sake but as a daily driver I think it is done.

We will see what the Pixel 9 Pro delivers and if Google can get their **** together update wise. They had so much good momentum with the Pixel 8 series but it just seems to have dropped off Googles focus??? Maybe it is just me.

I am going to skip the Pixel 9 series and wait for the 10 before I buy another Pixel. The processor needs to be faster and more efficient, the modem needs to be faster, battery life needs to be better and they need Gorilla armor and some type of color correction like adaptive color which I didn't see on the Pixel yet.

From what I have been reading, the pixel 9 Pro will be pretty much more of the fame. Nothing radically different or better.

The only positive is the new cooler design and shape of the phone. It's going to get more high-end looking kind of copying what the iPhone looks like shapewise and material wise.

Other than that, day-to-day use will be almost the same as today's current Pixel phone

I'm assuming the June update got cancelled or pulled back due to bugs or an exploit? It's been 10 days, and not one of our 4 Pixel phones has received the update yet.

I haven't read or heard anywhere on the web it's been pulled.

I did read that someone on reddit had asked t mobile in the US why they were delaying the release and they had said it was Google who were responsible for pushing the Pixel updates.

Almost 2 weeks, and still no June update for my Pixel 8 Pro, or any of our Pixel's in my household.

So I installed the latest Android 15 beta.

Is it ok to install this over my current Android 14 I have on this phone, or am I supposed to do a full factory wipe reset to run the beta better?

only if reverting to android 14 I think, no doubt someone will pipe in saying they always do factory resets with each software update 😂
