Specs are disappointing

Was hoping for better camera hardware.

Pixel 9 pro fold cameras not pro for me

You don't buy a Pixel for its hardware. You buy them for their software.

Exactly.

And why hasn't my SIM card been in my S24 Ultra since middle of May? That phone is just sitting on my computer desk at home only used as a small tablet type device now.

I went back to my Pixel 8 Pro as my daily and love it. And I'm well aware the S24U is the better spec'd phone no question.

But there's some special magic sauce with a Pixel Pro phone, and the camera, no comparison way better

And their under specc'd camera can produce stunning photos and special effects. They rival the best iPhone's and in some cases the Pixel's produce better photos. I'm still surprised Google gave Apple their Magic Eraser software. Perhaps it was a tit-for-tat seeing how Apple has accepted RCS messaging on the iPhone.

Cameras are great no doubt when you compare within US markets with apple and Samsung just not globally as that's simply a lot of great camera hardware out there now with vivo, Oppo for example

Regarding software the fact apple will get all these al features from Google shows Google cares more about money and support from others than hurting the competition.

Apple al will likely be as strong as anybody this year and heading Into 2025

Interesting that pixel fold 2 camera specs are worse than last year

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is also set for some changes this year. The ultrawide camera is now a Samsung 3LU (1/3.2”) instead of the old Sony IMX386 (1/2.8”). Both of the old selfie cameras (Sony IMX355, 1/2.8” and Samsung 3J1, 1/3″) have been changed to the Samsung 3K1 (1/3.94”).

That's not enough they should still be trying to move forward with the times

Software can only take you so far and they should be trying to move forward with sensor sizes

In the reviews I was reading yesterday for the Nord 4 that appears to absolutely destroy the Pixel 8a hardware wise, and I imagine though not compared probably mostly beats the Pixel 8.

I will likely pickup the pixel 9 pro XL as I do like my pixels but using Oppo find x7 ultra and vivo 100 ultra I can't see it being as good as these two phones

The specs of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold I find somewhat disappointing. Also those of the rest of the range, in the end the camera hardware is very similar to last year (the front not).

I wanted to change the 8 Pro for the 9 Pro Fold, but maybe I'll switch to Samsung with the Galaxy Fold.
