I posted a while back about an offer on a Watch 3 I was going to get but never ended up pulling the trigger.

Well, my Watch 2 broke. It flew off my wrist while playing tennis a few weeks back and I thought the strap had just not been clipped on properly. However it wouldn't stay on, and when I got home I tried my other bands and none of them on that same side would stay on. So I think it was a problem with the metal on the watch itself.

Anyway, google have given £125 as trade in for the watch 2 (which only needs to turn on to trade in), and I had £135 in store credit, plus a code for 20% off via perks at work. So for a Watch 3, plus a new band, it's costing me £50. Which I'm ok with. 😁. It arrives tomorrow.

The Pixel 9 Pro continues to be a great experience for me. Easily the best phone I've had (and there has been plenty). It's just a good phone. The ONLY criticism is battery life. For the most part, it's fine. But it's beaten by other devices and often starts to run out towards the end of the day with heavier use.

That’s a sweet deal on the watch.

Is the Pixel your main device now? I vaguely remember you getting an iPhone 16.

I’m still stuck between iPhone and Pixel but should really sell one and go all in.

I assume you have an iPhone? Are you happy with the software? Are updates smooth with no bugs?

I ask because on the software front Pixel has come a long way. Used to get bugs a lot in updates but since the 7 it has been pretty smooth. I can't speak for iPhone since a year after the 13 pro max was released and updates seemed to be rather buggy.

I really like Pixel UI and iOS UI except for back button gesture support on iOS which really bothers me compared to Android.

In terms of hardware Pixel has impress a lot but the Tensor chip in my except has been the Achilles heel of the Pixel experience since the G1.

If you have a Pixel phone and are used to an iPhone or Samsung s series and go back and forth the speed difference is noticeable. If you just use the Pixel you will be fine most of the time until you push it and it slows down. Also there are micro slow downs here and there but all of this might not be noticeable to most people only using the Pixel.

Battery life is still not as good as the competition although it has improved a lot generation over generation.

Personally I find that Google hardware can be a bit hit or miss with a higher defect rate than others.

I still love Pixel but I will only buy a series after my P8P.

I prefer Samsung s series or iPhone now.

If I were you I would buy the latest Pixel 9 you like and use it for 10 days straight. See if you like it without using anything else.

I have had Nexus phones and several Pixel phones over the years. I consistently love the software and Pixel exclusive calking features but I have been consistently let down by the hardware except for the camera.

I think you may have misunderstood my post.

I’ve got an iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. I pick one for a week or so then swap to the other when I feel like a change.

I also had a brief stint with the 9 Pro Fold a few months ago.

I’m a serial offender and have had way too many iPhones/Androids of all flavors for many years, though am coming to the conclusion that I should really settle on one and sell the other.

How do you find the Pixel compared to the iPhone? I currently have a iPhone 15 Pro Max and a S24 Ultra as my second device. I'm currently thinking of waiting for the Pixel 10 lineup and then trading in my 24 Ultra towards it.

Yep it's my main. I had the 16 since launch too and I dual them. So one week will use one the next, the other.
Both great devices. The problem is, I miss elements of the pixel when I use the iPhone. Namely, the circle to search function which has been an absolute game changer for me. See a cool cushion on someone's Instagram story? Search. Nice pair of trainers someone is wearing? Search. Sweet jacket? Search. It's just so good and I use it all the time.

The only thing I miss with the iPhone is magsafe as I have a magsafe stand for my car and it's just so handy getting in and slapping it on. I do have a magsafe case for my pixel but I hate cases. Having magsafe on the phone itself is so good.

But, the pixel remains king. Camera, software, size, everything. It's been a great phone for me.

I've got a shortcut set up as a circle to search replacement on my 16 Pro.

You need to have the Google app on your iPhone for it to work.

It works pretty well. Might be worth a try?

Nice thanks. Do I have to actually the shortcut app? As it's the most confusing thing I've ever seen.

I've got it assigned to the action button.

If you download the shortcut it'll be added to your shortcuts app. If you then go to settings, action button and then shortcut you can choose it there.

Do you have cellular connectivity for both with the same carrier or do you transfer the eSIM between devices? The features you mention sound really nice. At BB, I took a 30x optical photo with the Pixel 9 Pro XL and was blown away at the sharpening and de-noising it applies to the photos, the IP16 PM did not even come close.

I just swap the physical sim. Thankfully we're not forced into esim like some other parts of the world yet! 😁.

It's a bit of a pain as WhatsApp chats don't transfer so that's the only annoyance. But never mind.
The 16 Pro Max is a great phone. I think the camera is actually great but there are still areas iPhones are a little behind android and I think zoom is one of them for sure.

Very tempted by the deal from mobiles.co.uk - Pixel 9 Pro 128GB for £26.99 per month with 100GB data and unlimited texts/calls and £129.99 up front but with £100 off using a code as well as a £100 currys gift voucher. Almost sounds to good to be true as it's well below the RRP over 24 months.

Just do I let go of my 15 Pro and Ultra watch 1...

Go for it! I would if I had such a deal where I live and if the phone was not so poorly rated with regards to PWM. Many say Pixel and Samsung are terrible for that. Quite a few folks have great difficulty with the OLED iPhones which are supposedly better than Samsung and Pixel.

Chances are if you're an iPhone and an apple watch user you will go clamouring back and the whole thing will be a waste of time. Any sort of pull into the apple ecosystem and it's game over 😁.
Guess it depends why you're looking to swap. And if you're expecting another watch experience to be on par with the watch ultra you'll likely be disappointed. Although I can't speak on behalf of the Galaxy watch ultra, which I think looks really nice but have zero experience with.

I hated eSim but now all in. I swap eSim on my Pixel and Fold though my Verizon app painlessly thankfully improved ease of moving

Google are currently offering an extra £200 when trading in. it’s tempting but I’m trying to hold out for the Pixel 10 😬

Yeah I’m just a little bored with iOS to be honest, had iPhones since the 3GS with a few pixels as secondary phones over the years as well but always stuck with iPhones for my personal devices. Will give it some more thought veggie deciding.

Good thing is, most retailers or networks let you return within 14 days for change of mind etc, so you could always give it a go and see?
The issue most people have is the transition over and after an hour they have it boxed back up to return, which is ridiculous. You need to give it time and live with it in my opinion!

Let us know, though! Intrigued to see how it goes for you if you do decide to dive in 😁.

I have been watching a lot of videos, seems like the Pixel is still holding its own against the competitions newest offering in the camera department.

I'm impressed how the Pixel 9 Pro is holding up against the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the new S25 Ultra. From what I've seen online comparisons, the Pixel looks really good.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. Pixels have always had great cameras. I watched some S25 U videos and the first one I saw some guy showed a photo of his dog in lower light and said how bad it was. So, seems nothing has changed on that front. 😅.

Definitely not missing out one bit, I would say even the 7 and 8 are in the competition easily
