Well after the faff of sending a 2nd ZF6 back (received brand new / boxed / sealed), after it started to take blue pictures…

The refunds on its way to me and I was going to buy the 9 Pro XL via Google, trading in my 8 Pro for c£400 it quoted. But sold that today and managed to buy my previous 9 Pro Fold, from the fella that bought it off me via one of the UK BMW forums. He hasn’t used it since he got it, it’s still in the packaging I sent it in haha 😂

That lands with me tomorrow with the Spigen Armor case and I’ve splurged and bought the Thinborne MagSafe case too ;)

Will get some pics up when it lands and I’ve restored it etc

Can I ask why you are getting the Pixel 9 Pro Fold back? it's a device that does intrigue me. If I was going to buy a foldable, it would be a Pixel Fold. I'm just not sold on the durability, battery life and cameras on foldables. Unfortunately there is always at least one compromise.

Having had both Pixel Folds, IMO, they’re superb devices and their picture taking capabilities are much better than Samsungs

I’m not a power user and work from home, so the phones always next to my MagSafe charger etc

Plus I always ensure they’re well protected, so durability etc is spot on for what I need

And I wanted to stay with a Fold as I do like the inner screen for reading/Youtube etc

Will get some pics of the Thinborne case when it lands - I do like the Spigen case though. Very protective 👌🏼

I've been waiting for the official Google case and Mous cases to come back in stock on the Google Store to use my online credit but I might just bite on the Thinborne. That said I've been using it caseless since I got it and love the feel of it without a case.

I got the official Google case on Sunday; ordered it Friday night and they had 20% off too

I wouldn't run mine caseless personally; it'd soon get marked

well i'll be damned, it is back in stock in the US store finally. Never got my notification that I signed up for. I am ordering it now lol

Honestly, not a single scratch on my Pixel 9PF. I haven't used a case on it or my Oneplus Open and both are scratch free.

Yeah. But you don't have hands like sandpaper and use chalk like it's going out of fashion when training 😉

Am I foolish in getting the 9 Pro Fold as there's a great deal to be had right now?
I was waiting for Pixel 10 as it's more of a nice to have, but I'm really itching to get one now 😁

Why not go for it and even if you decide to upgrade later in the year or down the road with another deal comes up I'm sure you'll have good trade and value on the phone especially if you getting a good deal now

Go for it. Probably the best foldable phone on sale in the USA.

I cooled myself down to get the 10 Pro Fold instead.
That is a given, even if my wife doesn't really see the need for it 😁

people here still happy with their Pixel Pro XL? or changed to other brands?
Still happy with my 9PXL although I find myself using my 9 Pro Fold more.

Really can't find much to complain about with the 9PXL. It is a solid all around device. I do slightly prefer my S25 Ultra but I'm a Pixel guy at heart and will likely never move on from the Pixel line.

What do you like more with your S25 compared to your Pixel?
For me Pixel OS is much more comfortable compared to the 'here you go, a million settings...good luck with it' OneUI from Samsung. Plus all the double apps

Maybe that was an issue in the past, but now, I just don't see it that way. OneUi 7 is very nice and refined. Very easy to use and intuitive. All Samsung devices use Google Messages now for messaging, so no issue there. You do have a separate Samsung app store stashed in the Samsung apps folder but that's not an issue to me. Also a Samsung Gallery for photos which I personally really like.

What do I like more about it? The battery life first and foremost. Performance-the device is as smooth as any I have used and it handles games and other resource intensive tasks better. The modem performance of the Qualcomm modem is better than they Exynos modem on the Tensor 4 chip. Display-I prefer the anti-reflective display of the S25U. Camera-I prefer the versatile camera of the S25U. I get better results most of the time although the Pixel is still better for indoor shots with motion of kids or pets, but not as big of a gap as there used to be. Also video is much better from the S25U and zoom is no contest if you need to use the zoom. S-Pen- I actually use it quite a bit and obviously isn't an option on the Pixel.

That said, there are quality of life features in the Pixel experience that I prefer. The call screening on Pixel devices is second to none. I love the deep Gemini integration on the XL and the 9PF but Samsung is close here. I still prefer the style of the notification shade and quick settings menu of the Pixel over Samsung, but again this is close and it is subjective. I prefer the phone app/dialer on the Pixel and the way that Visual Voicemail is integrated and handled. A feature I really like that most may not care about is the "now playing" feature on Pixels.

What it boils down to mostly is Pixel software vs Samsung hardware. I still prefer the Pixel software but Samsung has the advantage by a good margin on hardware as they have for a while also closing the gap on the software side of things.

Nice write up. Thanks

I shortly had the S25 Ultra. For me OneUI is still a bit to busy.
Pixel phones are especially suitable for (ex) iPhone die hards I guess.

Note; I am not here to bash Samsung.

Furthermore, I am trying to get out of the Apple lock in more and more. Google has some really nice services.
