Well for some reason my Pixel 3XL deal fell through but I might now have a local possibility. But now I'm questioning if I want to maybe pursue the 3a again. Or I might just stay on my Galaxy S10.

Why u want the 3a? I find it slower. Even camera opening.

Not sure lol. I'm most likely going to see if I can get the 3xl locally for a deal. Otherwise I'm just going to stay put with the s10.

PS. I hate PayPal. This guy refunded me and of course I have no clue when the money will be back in my account. Always annoying.

Can get a brand new 64gb 3 XL for £500 or a second hand 128gb 3 XL with 3 cases for £587. Not sure how much worse the battery is on the original XL but I'm definitely satisfied with what the a XL has been giving me.

Logic tells me to stick with the Huawei until the end of the year. Someone take away by bank cards please.

I've been going back and forth between my 3a and OnePlus 7 Pro. While the 3a battery is good, better than the 3 and probably even 3 XL, it can't come anywhere near the 7 pro.

So far the downsides to the 3a:

-No wireless charging. I really miss it since I have two pixel stands.
-Slow processing of pics. It does take a couple seconds to process a pic sometimes, whereas it was almost instant on the 3/3 XL.
-Haptics are not near as good as the 3/3 XL.
-Every now and then it does get a slight hiccup when opening apps and navigating around the phone

All in all none of these things are really deal breakers for me. Especially since the phone only cost me $100 total.

So I bit the bullet on a Pixel 3a on Sunday afternoon. I went to the local T-Mobile store and picked up one in black. I took it home, plugged in the transfer cable and after about 45 minutes I swapped out my sim card and was ready to roll..mostly. It was my first day and after setup and no charging my phone died while I was out and about roughly an hour after I left home. I ended up taking the phone back Monday morning. For reference, I have an iPhone XS, Apple Watch Series 4, MacBook Air, Airpods. So I'm fully invested in the Apple ecosystem and I've used android before but it's been about 6 years so alot has changed. I thought the look and feel of the phone was phenonomal. It was light, camera was nice, and the fingerprint scanner was handy. This might sound really small but I really love the Android music notification tray widget. Just how it seamlessly blends in album or podcast art. I also thought from the brief time I used the camera that it took some great pictures. All of my messages transferred over and I didn't seem to have any issues missing messages when signed out of iMessage for a few hours and messages on the web worked flawlessly. There was alot I didn't care for and I know for a device I messed around with for roughly 6 hours it's probably not enough time to give it a full review. There were things like the magnifying glass, force touch on the trackpad and overall comfortability of tie iPhone keyboard I didn't feel with the stock google keyboard. I was comparing apps and realized a few of the android equivalents didn't look or feel as optimized as their iOS counterparts. I kept having issues with instagram hitting link targets or expending on hashtags where I couldn't tap something I could on the iPhone. There was a little bit of lag and I was having a hard time getting a few ringtones I uploaded to use as my ringtones on the phone. They were available as phone ringtones but not text tones or alarm tones which seemed strange. I know there's workarounds for all of that but what struck me was how much time it was taking to get basic features that I already had on my iPhone working through android. Reminders, notes, passwords I have all of that on my Apple devices but moving those over to android was taking a ton of time. I also worried about how long this phone was going to perform reasonably well, about giving up iMessage, about having to switch to a phone that has way more settings to worry about. Yes there's freedom in that but I also just like things that work and I'm familiar with. I took it back to the store and the guy who helped me did the exact same thing. He just couldn't get into android but we'll both be back for the Pixel 4 perhaps.

It's too bad you got a lemon. You might have really enjoyed it.

Got to handle the 3a yesterday. Loved how it immediately conveyed a sense of quality despite the low price. Vibrant OLED display, kick-ass camera, clean hardware design (love the back), and clean Android - feels like a device that really delivers on the key points while being good enough at the rest. I also enjoyed how light it was, picking it up became a little "oh wow" moment.

I think Google hit the nail on the head with this one and I really hope it does well for them. For all my non-tech junkie friends, this is a phone I'd recommend in a heartbeat. And most of all I hope it helps set a trend where people stop spending buckets of cash on ultra fancy flagship features that they don't even fully use. These rampant flagship prices need to be kept real somehow, and I think offering great quality "good enough" devices is the way to do it.

Aaaaaaaannnnddd I caved. Yesterday I committed to keeping my S10+ until the fall. But then in using it last night it just hit me that the phone is a chore to use. I counted at least 5 accidental touches, one of them while in my pocket and almost calling my ex (yes I should delete her number). It's way too large for my liking as well and I'm just never content with it.

I'll miss the wireless charging but then again, I only really use it at work. It's not the end of the world. I get a free Google Home Mini, which I've never used before so that's cool too.

Yeah with the fall coming I couldn't really justify paying for a regular Pixel. And good call on the iPad mini. I thought about getting one for the family as a portable gaming system.

Not exactly what you asked, but my 3a (non-XL) has better battery life than the 3 XL I owned.
Thanks. Still debating on selling my Huawei for a Pixel. And whether sacrificing battery is worth it for a slightly bigger screen, more storage and full res Google photos.

I understand how you feel. the Pixel 3a is a really compelling device. I'm ready to move off of Samsung and onto the Pixel. But at this point I feel like it is best to wait for the Pixel 4 which will almost certainly come with Android Q.

I'm really looking forward to Google moving security updates to the Google Play Store.

Also, with the Pixels being optimized for Google Fi, I know that they will work on Sprint since Google Fi uses both T-mobile and Spring networks.

One thing about the Pixel that is underappreciated is "ease of setup". Google remembers all my login/password info, much like Apple does on initial setup. I got it activated about a half hour ago and I'm fully functional already.

I just wish it would remember the wallpaper and arrangement of my home screen icons. That's the only piece that annoys me when I get a new Pixel.

I don't know how or when but I know I e had Android devices recently that out my icons all in the same spot when I set it up. Maybe it was a dream?
