I don't know how or when but I know I e had Android devices recently that out my icons all in the same spot when I set it up. Maybe it was a dream?

Whatchu talkin bout Willis?!?! Maybe it's operator error on my part, but the last 4 or 5 times it hasn't done it for me. I added a screenshot to Google photos so I can use that to remember how I had it all set up.

Does it even download your apps automatically? And put them in the app drawer or home screen?

Nova launcher puts everything exactly how you had it. You just have to download the apps if you haven't already done so (they're greyed out until you do).

I still have both my 3 and 3a. The 3a has been in its box for the last two weeks or so?
Just haven't got round to doing anything with it.

I loaded it back up tonight and had a play. I do think it's an amazing device for the price. I guess that's pretty obvious though!

One thing I did notice as I set it up as new just to see if I could maybe switch to it for the better battery, is that I really liked the animations.
I always (no matter what device) just knock off animations to 0 in developer settings and did the same with my Pixel 3. But I've turned them back on now to 0.5 and I love them ! Easily the nicest animations on an Android I've used.

I do like the 3a, but in direct comparison to the 3 side by side the 3 just feels so much better to me.
I also can't get over the better haptics on the 3 too.

I still maintain that if I hadn't have bought a 3 before the 3a came out and just got a 3a I'd be over THE MOON with the device. As it is though, the 3 is just head and shoulders more premium to me. I just wish battery was better but I am seeing a difference now I've knocked AoD off whilst I'm in work and can't use my phone.

I think it helped that I had a 2 month gap between owning this and the 3XL because I literally see no difference so far... Other than no wireless charging.

Had a heavy use day mostly on LTE today on my 3a.

A bit off topic, but I'm curious if there are any Android Wear watches even with looking at. I've seen Fossil's lineup mentioned before. There's also the Fitbit Versa I guess even though that's not Android. I'm not entirely sure that I even want or need a watch but just curious if you guys are using anything.

The thing that's most concerning about WearOS is how Google just doesn't seem keen to update it appropriately. It's so far behind.

I honestly think google don’t care about it anymore.

So I think it comes down to this. If you have an iPhone get an Apple Watch and if you have an android phone get a galaxy watch. The others are not even worth talking about.

Yeah that's why I'm kind of leaving towards the Fitbit Versa. Works with any phone. Proven to be a good fitness tracker and at least give me notifications.

I use a FitBit Charge 3 with my Pixel 2 XL, it's no Apple Watch but it does everything i need as far as fitness and notifications.
Thanks! I'm between that one and the Versa. Is the screen on the Charge 3 decent? Pretty sure it's not in color right?

@mjschabow what do you need out of your smart watch? Just notifications and step count or? Any other type of fitness tracking or requirements?
I'd say mostly that's it. It would be nice to have a run tracker as well. I don't have a need to keep my phone at home when I run either so gps isn't necessarily a must have.

No it's just black and white, all I wanted is notifications and fitness stuff so colour screen etc isn't a concern. I used to have a FitBit Versa and didn't enjoy how square it is.

Just get whatever's cheapest with the best reviews then. Most watches should accomplish what you need.

Yeah, good call. You know watch was awesome? The original Huawei Watch.

But yeah, I'll probably go Fitbit Versa or Charge 3 at this point.

I went with the Garmin Vivoactive 3 as I like having fitness tracking, sleep tracking, and notifications. While I've had fitbits in the past and have not issue with them, I do like the Garmin tracking and app, etc. a little better than Fitbit. So something else to look into... I got mine on swappa new for a lot cheaper than MSRP several months ago.

yeah, I'm a big fan. I love the slate color (https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/571520/pn/010-01769-11#). It's super light but a good size on my wrist (43mm). The battery life is insane, easily 5-7 days and that's with tracking sleep every night and workouts 3x-4x a week. I just don't have to worry about charging it which is nice. The only downside (and this is true of all garmins) is the transflective LCD screen. It looks great outdoors and in moderately bright rooms but at night, the the watch has to use the backlight which makes the screen not look great. If you are coming from an Apple Watch (like me), it takes some getting used to but I'm now fine with it and have no issues. But using this screen type is why the battery is so insane!

Can you play music directly from the watch?
