I don't date gals with Androids 😊
I don’t even KNOW gals with Androids 😂😂😂
I have so many recovery passwords setup, I’m trying to start with the important and daily ones first, and work through more over time.

How does Apple Mail handle spam? I’m thinking some logins I might keep out of my Apple eco system… damn digital organization is like having a garden one must constantly prune!!
I feel your pain 😅
It took some time for me to get rid of those, too. But I’v finally been able to de-google my digital life, to some extent. What Google have done to me is very bad, and I cannot trust that company anymore (I wasn’t very keen to trust it since the beginning, to be honest). I’m using google just for very specific applications.
Because we hate android?
I don’t HATE Android. I’m a tech enthusiast and I’ve been using android since its first iteration. But I don’t trust Google and I much prefer Apple ecosystem and philosophy . there is no fanboysm included in my choice. Apple is not perfect and I have a lot of complaints about them (one of the reasons why I abandoned Mac in 2021 after almost 40 years ), but if I have to choose, I opt for Apple.

thats fair.
i do hate current Google. the original Google actually stood for making a difference and breaking up the monopoly but it became the very thing it took down.

and yet under Cook more & more enterprises are switching to MacOS....I guess the modern systems engineer is much more concerned with security & privacy
I can't really see that in my area, but there might well be geographical and industry differences here.

What I do see is more people switching to Linux desktops or generally more BYOD - this then certainly includes MacBook Pros, but these are usually only used for Remote Desktop sessions to Windows (where I work).

I’ve not seen this where I am. it is always Windows front end onto either Windows server or Linux at the back

So why do Android manufacturers blatantly copy iPhones all the time ?
Lol half of the time both android and iOS are copying WebOS. When HP scrapped it, Google and Apple snapped up as many WebOS devs as they could and slowly incorporated features that WebOS had since day one

I understand the emotional reply but this is simply not true under the conditions I stated. If I encrypt my data then Google does not get it. If I prevent any communications through a firewall to Google, then Google does not get it.

Sure, for those that don't care Google scoops up everything. The whole point of my post is that there are ways to prevent that even for Google. So few people will do it that currently Google does not care. Maybe that will change but the undeniable fact is that I can install more secure Apps under Android that I can under Apple' crippled OSs.
If you use google, google gets your data. You can tell yourself that you are protecting yourself from them with a firewall or using encryption, but if you use a google os, they get your data, and what’s worse, some of your friends data who don’t use google. Like contact info and WiFi passwords. Just say no to google. When they control the os, you can’t keep it from them.

Security updates for two years? iPhone Xr are still getting major versions up until 18.x. Which you can buy refurbished for less than €200. That is a phone released 6 years ago. No, Samsung can't match Apple.

And the issue is cheaper devices run on slower SoCs / older SoCs which Android loses support for quite quickly with newer releases. Forcing companies to only offer minor updates (security updates) but rarely have more than one major releases. High end androids often have 2 or 3 major releases, even phones as expensive as 2000 euro. iPhones have 5-7 years of full major releases per phone.
Major upgrades for 7 years and 2 years of security updates. I don’t believe iPhone XR will receive iOS 19. So it’ll be the same..

Not even close to that. They still lag way behind
We've seen different phones then? Why else would I be considering on going back to Android? I just don't know which one, because there are too many choices.
Nearly every Android phone released within the last year supports AI. Samsung has it's own AI, which is already better than Apple's.
Android phones have way better battery life (Considering when I'm with my family I constantly have to charge my iPhone 12 and my family never charges their Android phones).

Android has so many languages and Google Voice Assistant alone is way better than Siri. The other day Siri was reading me a notification in Finnish and I was like: "What the hell?"

You clearly have seen different phones.
I don’t know and I don’t care why you wanna “go back”. But I wouldn’t because it would be a downgrade.
AI is just a software gimmick: Apple has even more powerful hardware to support it. It’s just a matter of time.
Better battery life ? In which parallel dimension ? iPhone are among the best flagships in that sector.
Google’s services better than Apple’s ? That’s because you are the product, in Google world. I wouldn’t trust Google in my job.
Siri reading a notification in Finnish ? Never happened to me or anyone else I know about.

You can buy whatever please you more, but they still aren’t “more powerful than iPhone”.

You know Apple collects your data too including data on your contacts. All you need to do is read the iCloud terms and conditions

What I said is that Siri sucks in Finnish so much is that you cannot understand it. iPhone doesn't support majority of European languages anyway.
Obviously you do care enough, because you replied to me. All of the major Android phones have better battery life than iPhone, that can't even withstand a bit of snow and iPhones batteries are so small it's literally pathetic. I don't even really use my iPhone 7, battery health is 100% and it runs out within three days. My Motorola is just chilling for a week without the battery running out.

I wouldn't trust Apple or any American company with my data either, but don't really have choice. Apple scans your pictures, sells your data and can access everything.

iphone 7 ?
we are in 2024 dude…

Apple doesn’t do that.

Yes they do. And I use iPhone 12 as my main phone and it doesn't have a great battery life either. My Motorola is older than iPhone 7 (on Android 9) and the battery still lasts longer…
No they don’t, it doesn’t matter how hard you try to twist reality. Apple core business is to sell devices and services. Google core business is to collect and sell your data.
iphone 7 is one of the worse iPhone ever made and it is very old (more than 8 years old). The iPhone 12 isn’t so old, but it still is 4 years old and not a very memorable device (no great flaws, but also no great selling points).

Apple doesn’t want my data or have access to it and doesn’t sell my data. Google’s entire business model is based on that they do. Google has also been caught multiple times gathering data they weren’t supposed to be gathering.
