Got a custom 27 i7 iMac. One big issue.

check out the IPS glow on this guys one... 2nd picture down. terriable!

The reflection shows the guy has taken the pic pretty much square on.
I went to a few retailers today to see if I could find i7 screens as bad as mine. They were looked perfect. I set full black background, moved my head to various angles, different lighting etc.... I couldn't replicate whats going on with mine... I wanted to swap mine for one of them there and then. But the were only core duos
Anyhow, gives me hope that glow ive reported is a out of the norm. Fingers crossed for my replacement

Well replacement came in. Plugged it in, and I still have this issue. This really sucks. I would expect to see an IPS glow if I turn my head or look at a different viewing angle, but come on!! When looking strait forward I shouldn't have this glow.
I really can't deal with this issue, and well after spending 4k on it I guess they will have to take it back. Would love to own this machine, but not with this handicap.

They even shafted me on my original purchase of ram. I bought 2x4 gig sticks to total 8 gigs and they only installed 4 gigs on this replacement iMac.
I really can't deal with this issue, and well after spending 4k on it I guess they will have to take it back. Would love to own this machine, but not with this handicap.

Maybe its best to get a refund and get a MBP and monitor instead. There have been quite a few threads about people exchanging them multiple times and still getting bad ones. I certainly couldn't/wouldn't live with that.
Yeah, I already have a MBP that I am trying to get rid of. Doesn't have the power I am looking for. Perhaps they will let me upgrade to a Mac Pro and give me some sort of discount for my troubles.
But seriously, I can't believe they actually sell these iMacs like this. People just don't know any better if they find this acceptable.

My time wasted dealing with their bs, is worth something, and they have done deals for people in the past. They told me I shouldn't have this issue and here I am dealing with it again. They are also lying when they market the display as being perfect. Hell they have a picture of an imac using Aperture, and a movie on the website. Both of those would bleed light into the blacks. Not everyone uses their iMac in daylight. Even if I don't get anything for my troubles, I hope people realize they are not getting what they paid for.
