iPads aren’t getting OLED. Apple is working on microLeDs for the iPad and MacBook screens. It’s a little better than OLED. The next step I’m screen tech
From your lips to gods ears...
No OLED please!
The iPad product range is littered with product variants like it‘s 1996 all over again. Didn’t they learn this lesson last time?
Apple should get rid of all iPads except the Air 3 and the Mini. Reinvest the tech of the others into those two. Dump the dud Pro range as those are outliers to gouge people with plenty of money to lose.
I personally would love to stick with the Air 3, but the risk of bright spots, especially showing up after apple care expires is just too great. With the power under the hood of these newer model ipads, keeping them beyond 2 years is no problem at all, so I don't want to be forced into upgrading because of a screen defect.
Yeah and the face id doesnt work as well in landscape mode. I dont think people will use the camera given they have a better options though...Camera (and home button) placement suggests otherwise.
Granted, I almost always use mine in landscape as well.
What site did you get this from?Because the case I have is very bulky and heavy and I don’t want to use the iPad naked, today I got a Chinese replica of the old smart cases that Apple used to make for the air 1 and air 2.
It is not a perfect case in regard to fit and finish, but the price was 10 euros, so I was not expecting Apple quality.
Anyway, it is slim and light, fits good and all the holes line up good.
Now I’ll test it over the weekend to see if it improves the usage for me.

By camera, I meant the front facing ones. We tend to prefer the iPad for FaceTime/Skype/Facebook video chat.Yeah and the face id doesnt work as well in landscape mode. I dont think people will use the camera given they have a better options though...
I guess it isnt official so it wasnt well thought out but somebody in the development must be envisioning it as a landscape device, sooner or later... Pro 12.9 is really awkward to use in portrait as if it wasnt the intended use. Besides the recent pros dont have a home button...

I can see the attraction of a Mini. My son-in-law has a similar-sized Kindle Fire. But the Mini would function too close to the size of my phone. I have a XR and never have desired a Mini, even when I had 4.7” iPhones. A XS Max is even closer to the Mini.
My 10.5” iPad Pro is about perfect tablet-wise for me, and the 11” would be even better, a nice size in between my XR and 15” MBP.
And you’re right about the size of the case. A nice thin one makes using a regular-sized iPad easier, though I usually use my 10.5 with the Smart Keyboard, handier than my MBP when I don’t need to do heavier computing.
As you give the 11” more time, gdourado, I suspect you’ll grow more attached to it. Hope you the best with it.
Exactly, but the title for what you’re suggesting is less clickbaity. So this is more about a bigger tablet vs a smaller tablet and not necessarily the much better and new technology in the iPad Pro vs mini?
Hello,
So yesterday I got an iPad Pro 11.
The iPad is a beast! Performance is fast as hell, Face ID is just as great as on my XS Max and I love it.
Pro motion is a whole new revelation and a game changer for browsing. Also, the speakers are pretty sick!
So what is the problem? It’s the formfactor...
I am just not feeling it as comfortable and practical as my old mini 4.
The mini 4 is great to carry around the house, tomou-se while standing, to thumb type on forums and reddit.
The Pro not so much.
I don’t find myself reaching for it as much as I reach for my mini.
Granted I still have a bulky case on the pro, as it was the only one that was in stock and I really didn’t want to bring it home without a case, but still...
The mini has a screen protector and the silicone case and Smart Cover combo and while at home I never use the Smart Cover. Just the silicone case to be able to place the iPad on any surface without worry.
I might get a similar tpu back cover for the pro to try it out.
Another thing... is the pro a different aspect ratio? I am not feeling it as comfortable to browse in portrait orientation as the mini.
Anyway, this is my first impressions on the pro.
Here are them both:

Same. Portrait on a tablet feels wrong.
Fiction, I always read in 2-column landscape mode on iPad 9.7" or bigger. In that orientation, it's similar to two 6" Kindles side by side. For anyone who does any amount of reading they are likely going to want to hold the iPad in portrait. The aspect ratio resembles a book. Ever read a book on its side?

I read epubs in portrait but pdf (textbooks and magazines) in landscape and scroll all the way down. It's way too awkward for me to read pdfs in portrait since the fonts are too tiny. I'd say about 99% of my iPad usage is in landscape. I'm using iPad 2018 though.Always read books and mags in portrait, everything else in landscape.
