I like it, it's very different, very nonBorglike. Obviously you haven't been assimilated.

Guys, not all the foofbags look like this.

There are some that are very "normal" and similar to the colcasac:

I agree, foof makes quality stuff, their Black as night is a very nice sleeve, it actually was in the running when I was looking for a sleeve a while back. But the applesac won out in the end.

Haha I actually think this bag is kinda cool...not saying I'd buy one, but interesting none the less.

Awesome, mine just showed up on my desk at work so here's a few more pics and another review for anyone considering it. Mine took just over a week to ship from Australia to Japan with the slowest shipping method.

The bags, as has been mentioned, came in very neat and simple packaging, and arrived in perfect condition, inside a plastic sleeve within a cardbard envelope.

I ordered two foofbags; the gray one is the "Tsunami" Japanese cotton one, which I got for my uMBP, and the other one is the "Nishikigoi" Japanese cotton one, which I got for my MBA.

Tsunami Bag:

Here is the inside of the bag. As you can see the acrylic fleece is more of a cream color than a white color, and it's of a little shorter pile than I expected, though it is also softer than I expected:

You'll notice the fleece is very clean--I noticed with AppleSacs that there was crap in the fleece that had to be picked/lint-rolled out before use. Not so with the foofbag.

I was worried about the inseam as well, because the AppleSac I ordered had a terrible, rough inseam so I never used the sleeve. The following is a pic of the inner seams--very very clean, not rough at all, not anything you can even feel with your fingers:

Here's the sleeve at the bottom inside end of the case. It's a little different than the side seams, but as the bag is turned inside out for the picture, once turned inside right it is very similar to the other seams...you can feel it, but it's completely covered with soft fleece just like the rest of the insides of the bags so zero worries here as well:

And the Nishikigoi bag for the Air:

So how are the bags?

As I mentioned before, the two things I was really worried about was shedding and the inseams. I am happy to say that the seams are basically nonexistent inside the bag, and there is not a single fiber of shedding whatsoever. The bags are definitely made of high quality materials, and are very well crafted. I also was apprehensive of fleece because there are far softer materials out there and to me fleece (albeit synthetic in this case) just never seemed very soft to me at all. However, the fleece used in these bags is much softer than I expected. There are still other materials that are softer, like microfiber, but nonetheless, as a super anal person, I have zero worries about the material. Feels great and poses no threat to the laptops.

I'd also like to comment on the fitment. It says on their site that the bags are a very, very snug fit, and this is true. The bag for the Air is certainly very snug, and holding the laptop bag open-end down would NOT allow the laptop to slide out--it's in there good. It's almost a touch toooo tight, but after a few uses it will be perfect. The bag for the MBP is also very snug, though just a touch easier than the MBA bag is to get the laptop in and out--it's basically perfect right out of the box. I also feel the bags are sufficiently thick to be able to carefully place the laptop in a school backpack between textbooks without having to worry about it.

In short, the bags are highly, highly recommended for basic scratch protection and there is nothing to worry about with these bags.

EDIT: I also may order the "nami aka" one as well.

Bumping an oldie.

How has it been for you now that you've had it awhile?

1) Does it shed?

2) No nasty inseams rubbing on your MBP?

I'm awaiting two in the mail, hoping to get them tomorrow.

I haven't noticed any shedding, and the classic MBP I had in the pictures was absolutely pristine when I sold it. I now use it with a unibody MBP occasionally (I have a few sleeves) and no scratches or anything either.

I like the sleeve a lot. It's not for everyone, but it's well made and quite unique. I'm a writer and have a lot of artist friends, and it always generates interest/discussion. I'm a fan of foof products.

Hope you enjoy yours.

um.....

i guess it makes you stand out in a crowd.....

it's really a matter of personal taste.....

but looks like it fits the mac very well

I received the Nami Aka foofbag for my MBP yesterday. This one shipped to me a day quicker than the other two did, so that was great. Here are some pics:

Exterior design:

Inside seam at the bottom, very soft to the touch and just like the other two foofbags I have:

A comfortable amount of extra length at the end to protect your MBP:

Tucked away inside, nice and cozy:

Nishikigoi for the MBA, and Tsunami and Naka Aka bags for the 15" MBP:

So how is this bag compared to the other two I previously ordered? Exactly the same. The quality and fit and finish are excellent throughout, and most importantly, despite being handmade, the quality and fit and finish are consistent between bags, even two different bags for the same computer. The Nami Aka bag fits the MBP just perfectly right out of the box and again there are no complaints or issues to be had, just a fantastic bag.

When I ordered this bag, I could only find a couple pictures online and those seemed to be shots depicting this color as a very bright and vibrant red; I suspected photoshop saturation enhancements were at play and I think I was right. When mine came, I found it to be a slightly darker and more subtle, yet richer shade of red than I'd seen in the pictures. What came to me in the mail is more the style that I would expect to come from Japan, as this fabric did so even though it was a little different color than I saw in pictures, it's a shade of red much more in line with what could be expected from the design aesthetic of the Japanese, so I'm very happy with that as well.

Also, as with the other bags, there is no shedding, the packaging was fantastic, and the fleece was clean inside requiring no type of lint-rolling or anything like that prior to use. Customer service and shipping were also excellent.

I've had several kinds of sleeves for my laptops. For my Macbook Air I've had a white canvas/microfiber envelope by Avenue-D that I got here in Japan, a Tucano Second Skin, and now a foofbag. For my Macbook Pro I've had a black ColcaSac, a Tucano Second Skin, and now foofbags. On both laptops I now use foofbags exclusively and find them to be the best products in terms of basic scratch protection for taking inside something like a backpack. My only complaint is that they don't offer all fabrics for all models of laptops, but it's not really an issue since they surely have something for everyone. Highly recommended if you are in the market for a simple sleeve for basic protection.

Tell your kids that they need to use this cover for their laptop otherwise they can't use it in college, thus forcing them to stay indoors and work harder. SUCCESS!
