I like the red back myself. It’s the red aluminum sides that bother me. I don’t like the way they look. I opted for white again. For me I like it best of the three.

This angle sold me on the Product Red SE.

While the cause is good, (Project Red) I'd never own one of those branded phones in shocking red because it would always remind me of the tragedy it represents
That’s fair. I look at it as doing something good for those tragedies, thereby making the purchase a lot easier.

On a superficial level, I love the deep red color and wanted another Apple product in a shade similar to the Project RED Nano.

I am using the SE more than my 8+ too. It’s so nice to hold a smaller phone again.

Hmmmm yah I’m not feeling the red. J liked the red on the xr. Although my next iPhone is definitely going to be white for sure.

A quick update after 3 days:

I am starting to despise the red. I never thought that it would come to this. Part of my reasoning behind getting this color was that many people hyped it up on this board and also on YouTube. In hindsight, I should have just acted on my gut feeling all along and gotten the white instead.

I can live with how the red sides contrast against the black screen. But I'm already sick of looking at the red rear end. Again, it's not a bad color. It's just too flashy and "out there" for my liking. It doesn't look clean. It sort of cheapens the look of the phone.

I know that it's all very subjective and people's views will vary. I'm kind of glad that I went with red because I considered it for years. Now I know it's a color to stay away from in the future.

That's a very valid position to be in. Red is the loudest color. Some other color options would really have been nice to appeal to different styles, but ah well.

I had gotten bored with my rose gold 1st gen SE and transferred the guts to an aftermarket red housing. It was super fun and flashy for the first couple days before getting really old.

The "you can just put it in a case" argument really doesn't fly in real use. Portions of the red will always be visible and the possibility of clashing colors really reduces your case choices. I was excited to use again my favorite lime green case, before realizing it looked like Christmas with the red visible on the bottom and side. I've always liked white/silver iPhones because they work like a blank slate to add color cases to.

I had been contemplating the RED long enough to ditch the concept by now.

I had said NO to black, now I am certain I am going for the white one.

I struggled between the black and the white. My 11 is black, and it looks REAL good in my cheetah print Loopy case, but I decided to go for something different.

Only trouble is, I can't seem to find a case I like as much, and I don't know how cheetah will look with a white phone peeking out.

First world problems...

Kudos to Apple for making a donation to a specific cause each time they launch a Product Red product and for each item sold. However, as is typical with Apple on a number of issues (amount of RAM in phones; weight of Magic Keyboard etc.) they refuse to make public certain information. This can only cast suspicion on the situation at hand. Product info is one thing, but not to state what donation will be made for each Product Red item sold is just odd. Is it 5 dollars, 2 dollars, 5 cents? Why should I be enticed at all to make a specific colour choice when I have no idea what is being donated as a result? Some will say it doesn't matter it is a wonderful gesture and just support it. If it is so wonderful and if Apple is proud of its Product Red program, be upfront and proudly state what the donation is. Why hide in the shadows?

Not the SE, but kinda the same issue: when I got my 11 Pro I decided to get gold. I’ve always had space grey iPhones and wanted a change. I get that you can get bored of a phone’s colour once the novelty has worn off. Luckily I’m not bored of my gold Pro.

I would just exchange if it’ll really bother you.

This is ridiculous and minimizing the impact a large corporation like Apple can make. For those that wish to make an impact without conspiracy, why not make a private donation? Any amount given to organizations like (RED) is helpful and appreciated.

Here's a post from 2019 citing the Apple's contributions since the beginning of their partnership. https://9to5mac.com/2019/12/01/tim-cook-apple-red-donations/
Napkin math (dividing 220mil by 13 years) comes out to just under 17mil per year. That's huge. To imply that it's not enough or an insincere contribution is in bad taste.

I'm not trying to defend Apple, here. It's their prerogative to release red products and to donate a percentage of that revenue to the cause. It's also their prerogative to report their contributions they way they see fit.

Calm down. I am saying that transparency would be the best approach. You are free to disagree which you obviously do. I did not imply "it is not enough or an insincere contribution in bad taste" so stop making things up.

Sorry- not my intention to come off so heated. Some of the statements in your post read like you were casting doubt about the program/Apple's intentions. I think it's a big win (for the cause and for Apple) to have one of the largest for-profits participate by not only making donations but by the visibility they can bring to the initiative.

That’s to bad. If it‘s anything like the iPhone 8 product red, which I use to have, I think it’s a beautiful red! The good thing is, you should have 14 days to return it. Get the color you love.

Yeah. Would've liked navy blue.

My case preference runs towards black or grey so clashing isn't really a big issue for me. As long as bezel is black, I'm good.

White was always a pleasant choice for me. The white looks classy looking. It's also less prone to apparent smudges. The Space Gray gives me OCD.
