What Is An A2DP Headphone And Why Do I Want Or Need OS X Support For It?

NicP said:
I believe a2dp support is coming in leopard
Pardon my ignorance. But could we have a link to what it is you are referring to please? I have never heard of the term a2DP headphones before these posts. Got a link to the a2DP headphones page for dummies? Thanks in advance for your help. :)

160's Are Seagate Momentus 5400.3 ST8160821AS Perpendiculars

As soon as somebody receives a new MBP with the 160GB 5400rpm disk, could you please post the manufacturer and model number?
I think and believe the 160's Are Seagate Momentus 5400.3 ST8160821AS Perpendiculars.

It's in your google for as low as $180 from NewEgg.com

has this been confirmed????
This is not confirmed yet but I will be in total shock if they are not. Seagate is one of Apple's prime HD suppliers and their 160's are an outstanding performer.

Seagate's 2007 offerings are going to be even more amazing including 7200prm & 256MB cache models.

I will definately add this to the list.

I am at work right now, so I am compiling a list of things to check, and software to run, benchmarks, etc...and will run them all later this evening when I get home.

I will most likely take a picture of the unit to show the hinge movement.

bcavanau gets my vote as the 2006 C2D Most Valuable Player :D

Not if you ordered the 160 GB! Bada Bing.
But you are right, all the other capacities are LMR.

Not sure if I'd order the 160GB HD. I just bought a new 120GB drive for my PowerBook. I looked at a few 160GB drives and more people than not reported faliures. Hopefully they've fixed things so there are no more problems.

I bought a 15 inch 2.16 last Friday, returned it this morning for the 15 inch 2.33 (both top 15 inch model.)

My boss won't let me bring it into the office :(, but I shall report back this evening....

Brian, that is bs. real bull$&it. You can run windows and integrate into the office if you need to. or is there a security issue, or are others not allowed to bring them in.

Yeh, when it comes to bringing a Mactel laptop into work, don't even mention that it's a Mac. If they require certain apps, just boot up (or Parallel-up) into Windows and they'll never be the wiser. Just don't ask for any support on OS X :p

Guess we'll have to wait and see when someone opens up the case, but the C2D MBP appears to have no internal revisions, so the GPU should be running at the same clock as before. I suppose they could have tweaked the firmware/software that monitors internal temps to run the fan sooner, such that a higher clock could work, but other than that, if there has been nothing doing internally, the GPU would be the same as before.

MacBook Pro owner notes on improved WoW performance using SMC Fan Control

see this page below for the two ATI utilities for setting/reading the GPU core/memory rates, varies from system to system what the reported values are:

Differences in ATI X1600 Clock speed in Macs vs PCs, Overclocking using ATITool in Win XP

Your statement: Guess we'll have to wait and see when someone opens up the case, but the C2D MBP appears to have no internal revisions. So did they just tape a FW 800 socket on the outside? Modified board to support FW 800? pre 802.11n???

Thanks mdncallr! You should be able to view this in Apple System Profiler (Applications > Utilities) under one of the categories you can select on the left-hand pane, probably "serial ATA" or "SATA disks" or however it is labeled. It will show in the right-hand pane a bunch of info on the drive in the system which you can probably copy/paste.

no prob, but you'll have to wait a week maybe week 1/2. cause even though i ordered it right away on announcement. the BTO macs will take a little extra time. oh the humanity!!! Just kidding, wish they made some of these with the larger HD ahead of time. like the normal configured models.

Japaneese Engineered 160's Insead Of California Engineered?

nevir said:
I'm wondering the same thing - there's also been talk of them being Fujitsu drives
Say's Who? That is downright un-American and anti-California. ;) :p - joking

I edited my original post above to reflect not confirmed. But if they are Japaneese instead of California Engineered, then I will not be buying any Apple MacBook Pro until that changes back to California.

This would also steer me toward a 2GHz C2D MacBook with a small HD that I would replace with Seagate's Santa Cruz County California Engineered 160GB Technology in the easy access HD Bay.

You'd best get rid of all your Macs then, as many of the component parts are not "engineered in California".

I can't believe you're being serious here.

Faster than any other non-Intel or dual core Intel Mac but not as fast as on a Mac Pro.
