From the picture, yes it does not look like it uses the cable, but I don't think you can go by the picture considering there isn't even any kind of cable coming out of the dock.

From the product description:

I did not look at the description. Picture told me enough to think of what I thought:) how is it if you have it yet?

Don't have it, but I have backed the Everdock project on Kickstarter (see cbb77's earlier post). Backed for 2 of their Duo docks for an iPad Air and iPhone 5 each, and they should be here in a little less than a month.

Don't have this yet but should in a few weeks. Was one of the early backers and have a few coming in for the whole family in different colors. Will post pictures once received.

The company is sending me one in silver and a duo in gold. I am getting them as samples to review on amazon and I get to keep them for free:) I'm happy!! They are sending them by the end of this week.

I also backed the Everdock project on Kickstarter for 2 of their Duo docks. Looks like a brilliantly simplistic design that offers you the flexibility to use whatever connection cables you need for your devices. In my case for an iPad 2, iPad Air and two iPhone 4's. Should work equally as well when I upgrade our iPhones early next year by simply changing the connector cables. We also use the Sanctuary4 from BlueLounge as a centrally located charging hub for our devices. It works quite well, and it too allows us to use the required charging cable for each device. For example we also use it to charge our Garmin GPS.

We also own a bunch of charging docks with fixed built-in connectors for the iPad 2 and iPhone 4. Next year, when we replace our two iPhone 4's and remaining iPad 2, they will be useless where the Sanctuary4 and two new Everdock's should work just fine for just about any new mobile device that we purchase.

The everdock could last a lifetime;)

I just received an iHome iDL100 and I couldn't be happier. Two lightning docks and a USB port on the back. Beautiful sound quality and the dock itself is gorgeous, very sleek looking compared to old models.

I listened to the Everdock pitch and it fails to deliver in my opinion. If the goal is making connections (i.e., power) how does a $70 hunk of metal meet that goal?

If these were $25 a piece, then yes … but this is an overpriced piece of metal to which I have to add my own cables.

After a year of research (yeah right) I can't believe they couldn't come up with a less expensive design.

Not a valid design aspect.

Hunk of metal will last... Just the parts that hold the cable in place could break.

A few monts ago i bought a Philips DC295 docking station.

Image

It is build from aluminum, both iPhone en iPad compatible.
But i don't know if it is available outside of the Netherlands.

Oh yeah, and it works great with the air :)

That was what i was looking at for my iPad Air.

Glad it works with the Air, but also how does it sound?

I won't be playing music loud or anything, and won't be using it often, just wanted a clock dock and these look cool.
