Fine. you do you.
Just remember, if it's free, you are the product. And by product, I mean that they are profiting off of your privacy, instead of money.

I don't believe in privacy and Internet goes together. I am pretty much spetical about Apple and privacy as well. It isn't like Apple isn't profit out of your data, they might sell your data to someone else, doesn't mean they can't make profit from your data.

I am sure banks will use your data from online banking, credit card activities to generate offer for you. I am pretty sure your ISP track your online activities, your mobile phone provider will know text message being sent, your whereabouts etc.

I don't really bothered by Google reading my emails, if anything, I prefer they have copy of my email and have ability to access my email upon my request, if needed.

If you can't have complete privacy, it is more or less no privacy. I rather want take advantage of free offer.

Must be an older person thing.

Genuinely do not care about people’s phones and if their messages are blue or green. Even in the US, where iPhones are dominant, iMessage isn’t the #1 messaging platform. I doubt it’s even #2. Most of my communication, even with other iPhone users, is outside the Messages app. If I need to be in a group chat with an Android user I’m not so iron-headed that I refuse to use a second app to communicate with them.

Caring about bubble color or refusing to text an Android user because of it is just immature.

Time to grow up and get an iPhone. The majority of Americans use iPhones, and I will not participate in certain group texts and such with friends and family if there is someone in it using Android because the experience is just too annoying, or I'll start a new group without the Android user.
Yawn. No one cares except you and other pre-teens who have nothing better to do with their lives than make up social status based on arbitrary things.

Next.

Yes, but what you don't understand is Google levels up on the data-storing/selling/collecting. How do you think they make up for all the data server costs storing your and a lot of other people's data when the service is absolutely free for you? They sell it, and for a lot of money at that! The government has plenty of money when they are printing however much they want for themselves.

Yes, but what you don't understand is that we know what Google is and what they do. There is this assumption that only some MacRumors members seem to understand how the world works.

No, I'm not talking about only Macrumors members, I'm talking about EVERYBODY....most people think that Google cares about their privacy! Also, did you read the second part of my post? That is the more important part.

You need to understand how Google is making money out of your data.

Then tell me. I wanna know!

You see, Google doesn't need know you being you. You are just a random ID to them, all your data are associated with this random ID. They don't have any interest to know who you are nor they care.

And all the data were randomized using mathematics model. Google only need data to show patterns and the pattern that are important to them.

If you are not comfortable that your data is being used for profit reason, then that's fine. It is whole other issue.

Ok, fair enough that you think that's the only reason, because the big reason they collect your data is...(cant say it because you'll say it is far fetched)

Big companies do collect your data, this is just how it operates. Even if you paying for products or services, it is guaranteed that your data is being used and used for some purpose.

Data is new gas and oil, it will be even more company participate this game, Apple is also playing the game. There is no reason to believe Apple does not want piece of pie in data game nor you should blindly believe Apple is such innocent.

If my data is being used for porfit reason, then I am going to used their free service.

They collect it mainly to get your accounts, your addresses, your full name, to then later on use it against you in ways you think are just tinfoilhaterry...and "highly unlikely"....

If enough information is gathered about a random ID, the underlying person will be identifiable.

The problem with a broker like Google is you have no idea about any of the thousands of companies that have access to your data. With Apple, it's just Apple having access to your data. They have that because you chose to do business with them. I definitely did not choose to do business with all the slimy companies Google supplies data to.

Why do you believe Apple isn't selling your data? Don't tell me Apple told you so.

To be fair to Google, I don't think there is any evidence they sell their data to third parties. In fact, I imagine they go to great lengths to not allow anyone to access their secret sauce -- this data is how they drive their $150bn ad duopoly business. They certainly sell you to advertisers, though.

The so-called "data brokers" are like the bottom feeders, scraping data from whatever source they can but almost certainly they don't have access to Google and Facebook's cookie jar.

I may be way off base there though.
