Listen bro you can have your phone however you want but don't go questioning what others want with their own phones. I like having dark themes, simple as that.
I don't think it was in the sense of questioning on what people might use it for, more to see what would prompt Apple to actually make it available (given their reasoning for macOS, and tvOS, and watchOS).

keep complaining, eventually apple will probably absorb whatever dark mode jailbreaks there is on cydia & pay their devs $999999 for it, like whats happened multiple times in the past with once large jailbreak tweaks, making their way into ios natively

He's asking me why I need dark theme if night shift is there, that's questioning how I use my own phone lol.

haha I'm just gonna continue waiting for the jailbreak. The dark theme was actually just in messages, not across the whole ios but I liked it. Message customizer is the tweak I believe.

Dude, you're not understanding me. I'm not asking you WHY you want a dark theme. I'm trying to point out that Apple will usually analyze the benefits of a new feature before they spend time and money on it.

And once again, +1 for jailbreaking. I had dark mode when I had my 5s with ios7 jb and loved it.

Leave it to them to control how we use our own phones, comical.
They sell a product, and you bought it. They don't inherently owe you the addition of any of your favourite features - they sold the product as-is and you decided to buy it.

It's like going "omg lol lexus sux" because they didn't upgrade your engine to a newer V6.

The only thing comical here is the sense of entitlement.

You can bet on Dark mode coming next year.iPhone is switching to OLED and OLEDs are worse than LCD in battery efficiency on white screens.

Lot 23E. Somewhere in Georgia.
and they never will but it's crazy how it'll void your warranty when it's technically legal.

In fairness, you can't expect Apple to cover the device when you remove the safeguards they put in place. It isn't about the law, it's a business decision.

You might know what you're doing, but for every person like you, there is someone who will download/install whatever DM profile some sketchy website tells them to, and Apple can't distinguish between you two.

This is baffling to me as well. I just don't understand using a phone in the dark with a blinding white on off white theme. How much more obvious can it be than simply turning your phone on in the dark? Or do Apple execs and devs only use their phone in the light and daytime?

Finally someone on my side. Night shift is limited and will never replace dark mode. Have you seen the pictures with dark mode? How can no one want that!?

what do you mean finally? lol. I said I would be ok with a dark mode. I just don't see Apple doing it unless it makes sense for them to do so.

Certainly seems like there have been a number of people supporting dark mode (in this thread, and certainly quite a few others).

I just find it comical how many ideas they actually got/stole from jailbreak tweaks and yet.

Oh yeah.. the jailbreak community is really responsible for everything that the iPhone is today.. from the quick reply (bitesms) to the Notification Center, to control center, to the lock screen (I believe it was called lockdown. Not sure).. and just a lot of other tweaks. Not to mention the App Store lol. Idea completely stollen from the jailbreak community
[doublepost=1477446943][/doublepost]But hopefully we will get dark mode as a 10.2 update or something like that.. similar to how night shift came out mid iOS cycle

Is that to say that Apple didn't put things in on their own or wouldn't have added various things on their own even if the jailbreaking community wasn't there or didn't have those things?

My guess is we'll get it with iOS 11 when they change the screens from LCD. It's gonna look great on the new iPhone (2017).

I think we still have a chance of getting it with iOS 10.2 or 10.3. I mean what else is there to put in it?!

They will say something like "we started preparing for it with night shift and people love this feature... so we thought how could we take this one step no one giant leap forward? Well in our next update we will introduce (insert fancy apple name for dark mode)!!!!!

I would really like it too mostly because then it would hide my pink and yellow tinges that I see on my iPhone 7 on white backgrounds. Hopefully it would work in safari too. If that jailbreak guy can do it why can't apple? I've used eclipse and while it isn't perfect and some apps look wonky I'm sure apple could get it right.

Well, to be fair Apple never allowed jailbreak. If developers created unsupported tweaks for iPhone, expect those ideas to be stolen and baked right into the OS later on.

f.lux was an app but Apple pulled it from the store, then f.lux became a Jailbreak tweak and a few years later we have night shift which is like f.lux only it is crap compared to it. Even when they copied something from Jailbreak they manage to f it up:rolleyes:

I like Apple products and have nothing else for myself in my house but they are a bit backwards at coming forward.

Looking forward to a new Jailbreak for iOS 10

To be fair, have you seen the "Night Light" feature in Android 7 for the Pixel?
