Ive only tested the above method on:
MacBook 2007 MacBook2,1
MacBook 2008 MacBook3,1

Mac Pro 2006 MacPro1,1 (kext not required)
Mac Pro 2007 MacPro2,1 (kext not required)
For ATI graphics card, i do not have a Mac to test them, I believe its the same, try ATIRadeonX1000.kext, ATIRadeonX1000GL.bundle, ATIRadeonX1000VA.bundle and report back.

Well.. It can even run on my mid-2007 MacBook White with 1GB of ram and a 5400RPM Sata HDD.. I don't understand why Apple would wanna discontinue these old but reliable Macs.

It is very simple Because if you like the 10.8 very much you will have to buy a new mac

yup! The guide has been modified, and now a compatible Mac isnt required anymore

Because the file you downloaded from a torrent site is already the InstallESD.dmg file, just renamed.

Thank you for putting guide together. I originally installed ML on a Mac Pro 4,1 and then moved the drive to a 1,1 and just added the model & board to the platform support plist.

It would get to desktop but would crash when I tried to use it, allays with that "Kernels_Cl" error. When I did a fresh install that never ran on 4,1 it worked (works) just fine.

I am curious what this error was and how you have fixed it in this guide. Also, you seem to have pulled all the earlier references to "MB White" from this article, but you missed one. I am guessing that you are trying to make it useful for all models.

I'm glad this thread is here. I've got a mac mini 1,1 that has been upgraded to a c2d processor and the 1,2 firmware that i'll try this one. I'd love to keep my mini going on current osx software.

9. 2 ways to perform this step:
a) Manually copy and install the right kext.
b) Use kexthelper (skip step 12)

MacBook2,1 - AppleIntelGMA950.kext, AppleIntelGMA950VADriver.bundle, AppleIntelGMA950VLDriver.bundle
MacBook3,1 - AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext, AppleIntelGMAX3100VADriver.bundle, AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext, AppleIntelGMAX3100VLDriver.bundle
MacPro1,1/2,1 - upgrade graphics card to GT210 or HD 5770 No kext required. 7300GT untested!

This step still needs fixing. Compare what you have in your list as required kexts for the GMA950 with what you get in your SLE folder:

I have the following:

AppleIntelGMA950.kext
AppleIntelGMA950GA.plugin
AppleIntelGMA950GLDriver.bundle
AppleIntelGMA950VADriver.bundle

You need all of these plus the AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext to get the Desktop up.

Follow the guide and search for x3100 64 bit driver from 10.6.2 and you will be nearly happy. What I miss is the lost of smb and afp shares on my MB3.1 late 2007 X3100. Kernel 32 no longer support smb and afp.

Also, this site confirms that one installs 10.8 Server by downloading and installing an app inside of a 10.8 install already in place. So it seems the requirements for 10.8 stand.

Help, it doesn't work, I did everything you said from step 5-7, but still not able to boot into it, I am desperate because I already erased my internal hd now my Mac won't work, so help. On start up it shows a prohibited sign and if I press command-v it says this version of Mac OS x is not supported on this platform Mac-f22788c8
